And there’s another app, simpler than WOD, cheaper than Footpath, with Apple Maps integrated …😉

I keep occasionally dipping into YouRace...although the tease of turn-by-turn and/or POI driven pop-ups (I REALLY want this) keeps me on WOD for most of my runs.

One thing I do have on YouRace is I see a "set targets" button on the watch, but it just goes to a blank screen...what is this?

Do you have the "Pro" version ?
This button opens a screen to set target for your run: pace, heart rate, time (for race)
You can contact me at support email for checking.

Clearly some folks care. Why rail on people for what they care about? I run ~1800 miles a year and it annoys me too.

That being said, I think they are spending a minimal amount of resources with that feature and it could be so much more robust. I just don't think they care to change it.

They could have badges for more distances, and then give you badges for THIS YEAR, so that you can continue to have motivation as you age, since chances are, you aren't as fast.

Or they could say, "You completed your 10th half marathon this year!" "That is 1 more than last year.." or something using AI or the data that they have compiled.

Maybe that is coming with the future AI updates? Doubt it.

See this I could actually care for - not that it needs to be a medal, but more just some kind of pop-up with message regarding my "1000th kilometer this year" and "10th half marathon" or something.

Most of us using devices like this, like statistics - some of the most popular stuff on Strava is statistics

Yes I have Pro.
I get those settings in the iPhone app under Apple Watch settings. Will maybe try a reboot.

Just raced a half marathon in Copenhagen yesterday and unfortunately Apple still haven’t fixed the half and full marathon medals in iOS 18/Watchos 11! Setting a record on 5/10K still good, but with these distances something is off.
Its like it cuts the time at 20K or something?! Weird as it knows the distance perfectly and doesn’t give me the silver medal unless it’s a full half marathon 1:23:47

@xDKP! Wow, congratulations on this amazing result. Well done, all my respect!

Weird bug. Yes, looks like they use the 20k time. Please report a bug on this, this is really shameful.

Thanks a lot - very happy with that race and how I followed the plan from start to finish.

Berlin Marathon is the main goal though, but this was a great pilot test.

Yeah reported a bug before posting here and can see I have done the same report several years in a row :(

Did my first interval run with watchOS 11 and really like the new interval displays. Everything is really well designed, can be read and looks good. Top job.

Trying the rest of the little features for sports people now too: Vitals and Trainingload. Though I already use Atythic and Runalyze.

The new intervals display that shows the next section? Love it as well, but in all my intervals I have a target pace and that part is missing so that small part could be better

I have that too and I was able to read it well. Have you also seen the second preview screen when you scroll down?

Also the current/rolling pace is green/red depending if you are within or outside the pace range.
The pace range is also displayed there, but very small.

Good for me.

The top image is the screen we had before - can’t even remember if it has been adjusted but that includes the tempo for the interval and use that all the time. Superb overview.

The second one is the new - and it has time and distance and show the next but no pace?

Scroll UP from that new second screen...just created a dummy workout...and in the top screen here you can see that the first screen is the equivalent of your old screen and includes the interval tempo (except it has a ahead/behind target pace instead of HR).

The screen you're looking at that shows current step and next step overviews is "one down" from that, as per my "Work" and "Cooldown" display here.

Yeah I have the same two (but how did you swap ahead/behind with HR?) - my wish was that the second that I also have, had some kind og speed. Like yours mine shows the current and next work/recovery but not current speed.

Strange. Maybe your interval is defined in another way?

I have this second screen (as @FMUK does also):

And this interval is defined like this:

This workout came from FinalSurge and I copied that from this training schedule to my workouts in the Apple Training App. Hope this was understandable.

My interval is defined in intervals.icu and then synced to the watch via the Watchletic app.

I suspect the difference is the "target"?

So mine was a 1km interval with a target pace of 5:00 (which gets converted to a range because of how I have intervals.icu configured)...so on my "second screen" I see "1,000m 4'55"-5'05" where to me it looks most likely that your 5minute "Training" is just configured as an OPEN 5 minutes, and so you see just "5.00" in the small text (with no small text giving a pace/HR/power/whatever target).

Try and redefine with a target of some type, and the bottom field on the 1st screen will likely change to what is relevant for that step.

As an aside...all my training is HR based usually, but I'm using Garmin PacePro to create an elevation based plan for an upcoming race, and intend then re-creating the PacePro plan as a structured workout with an interval defined for each split of the Garmin plan to help guide me (Loch Ness marathon, which has an odd profile that I need some guidance from my wrist on!).

Thanks both of you. Yesterday I had a 3,5K warm up, and 8K training at 4.15/km and 3,5K cool down - and set the target (as I often do actually to get the alerts).

The first screen shows pace and target next to it - pretty good - second screen also showing training and target, but now how I'm doing or if I'm behind.

But still - I love the first screen as it shows everything very neat. Just not the fresh new look of the second screen, but I'll survive.

Yes, this is partially static. It is showing the progress within the current interval though.
What also would be cool is if this screen would allow to peak even further than the next interval. But ok.

Today I had a weird experience with the Apple Training App. Was doing a plain vanilla open run and about one hour into the run, the training app switched back to the watch face. Thought I had incidentally pressed the crown and switched back to the training app. Some minutes later my watch showed the watch face again. Was monitoring it from then on and sometimes after 10, sometimes after 2 minutes the same behavior.
Run was recorded without a problem and I had no such behavior on my four runs with watchOS 11 before.

Seems the Compass App caused this.
Changed the setting „Return to App“ to off. See if this was a one off.

My compass app did the same and I noticed that it had started a backtrack maybe because I lost cell data on the run. Cancelled that backtrack and it would not jump out.

I had a different weird episode yesterday. Ran to a local track. Did my speed work and ran home again. Seems like the map stopped showing me when I arrived and paused for a second to have some water before the speed. Still tracked distance and everything good. Just not the map

After my run today, I saw the compass app icon at the top of the screen again. This time, the training app did not switch to the watch face while running.
Clicked on the compass icon and it said it started a backtrack as it thought I was in an area that is not covered by mobile. Also, it offered to jump into settings and there I found a setting to switch this backtrack feature off.
It is in Apple Watch App->Settings->Trainings-Backtrack.

Not sure if this came with watchOS 11 or it was there before. Never had this behavior with watchOS 10 or earlier.

It’s an usual bug with HealthKit / CoreLocation. Sometimes it stops tracking the position.
Remember your distance/speed is mainly tracked by pedometer, the result displayed in Apple health is not based on your GPS route. When you export to external services like Strava, it’s different, the workout is mainly imported from GPS tracking, then it’s smoothed and filtered. It explains that the results can differ a bit

I reported a while ago that I had strange power spikes about halfway through my runs. Also had these with watchOS 11.
Switched off this backtrack setting and my run today has no spikes. As power is calculated from elevation (among other stuff), compass could have interfered somehow.

Interesting - to be honest I haven't really figured out what to do with the power data - looks nice and all, but not really used it so far
