Except for 5G/satellite and a bit more battery, U3 has exactly the same features as U2.
The SOC has no extra power or feature, so there is no reason to expect something for the U3 that won't be supported by the U2

Of course I forgot my most important habit to stay away from injuries: doing strength training.

I did strength training for the first two years of starting to run and I got injured three times. I had read several meta studies and they couldn't find any definitive proof that strength training helps either in increase in speed or in injury prevention. There are also lots of single studies that show they do help.. That being said, there are a TON of people who swear by it.. I really think different bodies respond differently.. I decided this spring to not do anything other then run and I was up to 80-90 km weeks with not a niggle. But then I added in speed and by week 10 of my 16 week marathon build, I was completely exhausted..I'd come home from a workout and sleep for an hour.. and sure enough, I got injured. Still trying to come back from both the exhaustion and the injury, three weeks in. My marathon is pretty well done for. The stupid mistake obviously was not seeing the signs of being exhausted.. But if the plan says to do something.. I do it !

Oh, I ordered an AWU v3.. All black with the blue trail loop..

Not really going to need it for running as my runs now are like 1km and then wait 24hrs to see if that 1km aggravated the injury or if I can maybe add another 500m or so.. *sigh*

Battery life ;-)
Yes if you do very long workouts that are impossible to do with an Ultra 2 (14h vs 12h in workout with all ON).
It seems all the improvements come from 5G chip.
It's better, but not really a game changer or not something that will make the Ultra 2 obsolete faster.

Well we don't use only leg muscles when running, we're using also e.g abdominal muscles to raise the knees, so there is an obvious advantage if those muscles are well trained. In terms of injury prevention, of course there's many more factors - so having a stable core can help but won't save the day if a runner underestimates recovery, stretching, warm-ups etc. Strength training is not a magic bullet but if incorporated into the training correctly, it's definitely beneficial. (Having said that - I'm not very diligent about it myself...)

To be fair, longer than that even with an AWU2...can't remember the exact number, but I had over 20% left after this 16hr+ effort - I'd be pretty confident in tracking for up to 20hrs.

The cases where a small extra percentage beyond current endurance is "needed" are pretty slim for the vast majority of people...probably those doing 100milers as an 'average' runner (not that anyone who completes 100miles is 'average'!) might struggle with an AWU2.

Even events like Endure24 are well within capability, just take along a powerbank and top up when you inevitably have a break (unless, as mentioned, you're one of those real edge case 100miler+ type runners who are going to attack an event like that non-stop).

(showing this screen as it shows HR data was being continuously collected etc)..
