Yeah … call it what it is but I am now the proud owner of an S25 Edge, 512GB, Black. See attached.

Disclaimer: I have only had it for less than a day so battery and other longer term info will have to wait.

First impressions.
Thin. Very Thin. Very Light. Feels odd in the hand for about … 30 seconds. After that, everything else feels brickish. Is that a word 😁 ? It set up very fast as I just did a data dump from my S25Plus. (This device will be going to a needy relative).
Setup was easy-peasy.
It is running smooth, fast, responsive. For some reason, faceID and fingerprints work better than the Plus. I’ve played around with some apps, games, websites. All run well. No issues so far. Knocking on wood.

Started playing with the cameras this morning. I am impressed with them. Better quality than the Plus. Don’t have a 25 Ultra to compare the 200mp. (The photos attached were taken with my iPad. Yes, the camera does work, poorly.)

As for the thinness and weight, the numbers may not look that’s impressive, however in hand it is VERY noticeable. I handed it to my other half and her first words were “It is light!”. She uses a OnePlus 12.

Anyway, I’ll post again in a couple of days once I have more info on usage. Any questions feel free to ask. I’ll answer if I can.

Nice write up....mine is coming later today. I will compare it to my s25U and P9XL.
I was intrigued with the S25 Edge when it was announced. But didn't think it would compare to the beast of a phone the s25U is.....until i went to BB and held the Edge. It is a really great feelin g phone in the hand. Then most YT videos say the battery life is comparable to most other smartphones....

How's the zoom compared to S25+? If you could post comparisons when it comes to like 5X and 10X photos I would appreciate it.

Now it's pressure on Google who can even get a phone under 200 grams to drop down to 160.

Can Google compete? This is the future. Big and light.

After using this for a couple of days now, all my other devices feel like bricks.
See, this is what I'm hoping the "iPhone Air" will be, assuming the rumors pan out. I just want something that can do normal phone stuff but not feel like a horrible lump in my pocket all day.

Battery anxiety aside, when I look at my actual usage, day to day it's pretty rare I am away from a charging opportunity (desk, car) for more than half a day. And on those days when I am, I'm probably carrying a backpack or something and it's not a big deal to throw a battery pack in there.

Nope. Did a few more pics this morning.
For 10x both use 12MP and I am finding the Plus does a slightly better job.

Later today I’ll compare the 50MP on the Plus vs the 200MP on the Edge.
Too bad you cannot compare to an iPhone 16 Pro. Or better still a 17 Pro :)

I'm sure it is a nice device and I appreciate the engineering effort, but I'd rather have more battery life than a thinner phone. Having to charge your phone every day or day and a half is ridiculous. Of course, this applies to basically all mobile phones.

For all other features, we are already way beyond what is necessary. I personally think phones are enormous, but I get that there are different preferences there. But a 200Mp camera? 512Gb of storage?

I could see that.
Even when I had the 15 ProMax and S24 Ultra, I would still need to charge my devices daily. They were under 50% at days end.

I didn't think that was a thing on Android.

Not joking, I've held about 50 different Android devices at one time or another during development, work, or exploring at a store, and I've never seen a single one that would be described by any of those 3 words.

Been testing using both since way back when. Higher end Androids are every bit as smooth, many cases faster, and just as responsive as the 15ProMax I just gifted. Definitely more flexible. That is MHO.

Not sure what models you were using. Either way, enjoy what you have.

Been playing with comparing the 50MP on the Plus vs the 200MP on the Edge.
Photos are so large that loading them here creates an error :(

So to give the best mismatch, here is one from each, zoomed in max.
Edge vs Plus. As expected, the Edge blows the Plus out of the water.
Morning light, cloudy.

IMG_1309.jpegIMG_1310.jpeg

The original Edge 200MP jpg was 60.6MB - the Plus was 21.75MB.

The iPhone picture looks far better. So much for "this was embarrassing".
I find these comparisons difficult, because you don’t know what the actual colors and the lighting was like. What bothers me the most when taking photos is when the resulting picture looks significantly different than what I see before my eyes and want to capture. That being said, for those photos in the above comparison where I thought one looked more natural than the other, it was about 3:1 for the Edge. But both models had what looks like overprocessing, and unnatural looking ones.
