It may not be for me either and my initial impressions are underwhelming. I't doesn't really bring anything new or must have to the communication process and it may in fact be a more cumbersome way to do what I can already do on my iPhone. If it really replaced the phone then it would be something, but it doesn't.

I'll see how it goes for a few days, but I can certainly see myself returning it. I'm willing to wager that there are going to be a lot of others who think the same way or who will tire of the battery life.

The watch definitely isn't for everyone even though it does have broad appeal. You will know the second you try on the watch if it is for you or if it isn't. As I get older, I find myself constantly looking for a way to not check my phone and the watch is my answer to that.

he's a grade A whiner, talks about abandoning the forum, etc.

Because this place has become very cynical at anyone who questions Apple. All he did was come in saying it wasn't for him then he was attacked. Can't say I blame him but sadly you need thicker skin these days.

I agree, the watch will be a passing fad and isn't for everyone at all.
You've brought up a point that I'm very interested in.

That point is the nagging question I ponder from time to time... will Apple Watch be a high profile device until the honeymoon is over, then begin to fade?

To save face Apple can easily keep the watch alive for a very long time. It could be a smaller part of their business than the iPhone for an example. If indeed sales dropped dramatically I don't think Apples ego would allow them to discontinue the Watch.

With Apples massive cash hoard they can buy success. The master of spin control, they know exactly what's needed to create the illusion of acceptance.

I had no initial interest. Then I decided I'd buy one to see what the hype was about. Mine arrived about eight hours ago. Now wearing it, oh sure it's shiny and new, different and interesting, but I still don't see a compelling reason for it.

I'll keep using it, keep reading all that's published so as to see what others are using theirs for. I'm going to search diligently through the thousands of apps, perhaps I'll find something, perhaps I won't.

But I will get out of it what I bought it for... The Experience.

Goodbye Macrumors after 13 years.
Most people on this thread have been very understanding and supportive. Surprisingly so, given what I've seen happen to other people around here.

I think you've got buyer's remorse and some stress about it. I notice there's a lot of stressed out people because of this launch. Even my normally unflappable husband has been a bit squirrelly. I hope you relax and unwind and have a great weekend with your family. And come back and talk to the people who are nice to you. Your family is bound to have questions or tips to pass along eventually.

I'm sorry it seems like the watch isn't working out for you. I hope you change your mind, but no biggie if you don't.

These forums have gone downhill over the last few years. Everyone has their own opinions, if you don't agree with them there is no need to attack them or try to be funny to get a bloody like on your post.

I have to agree with this at this point. It's value (and this is true of the iPhone as well) really depends on what the developers are able to do with it. Unfortunately that will take some time to really be apparent. Right now part of me almost equates it to car head units in the 90's that came with remote controls. They never really had a need because the thing you are remote controlling is well 12 inches away from you, and right now, with out the added value that developers provide, the watch is kinda the same thing. A little remote control for something that is in your pocket.

It would have more value if it was an independent product vs relying on the phone.

You are quite right.

I might say that to some Apple is so personal, they are so emotionally attached, it's like their religion. They believe that Apple should not be questioned and is rarely if ever wrong. They lose their dignity, and become aggressive and acerbic. It's the Apple phenomenon.

Smart watches overall are largely unnecessary. I could easily afford any of the Smart watches available but i know after a few months the only thing i will use it for is to tell the time, and i can do that on my phone or with a regular watch. Everything i can do on a smart watch i can do it 10x better on my phone.

After using it for a day I just don't know. Apart of me really likes it, and another part of me feels like I wasted $400. That's a lot of money for something that does so little. $250 would be perfect, and I can see the sport coming down that low in a year or two.

Maybe it's because I'm used to the iPhone, and now the 6 Plus. But the Apple Watch feels so limiting. It's great for time and quick notifications, but falls apart when you try to use it for more than 20 seconds. Plus it's really slow.

Ugh, I'm confused. Need more time.

I refreshed your profile a few times, you keep reading different threads. Even though you get bashed, you keep reading this thread (then read others, but keep returning), why is that?

If you don't like it I suggest you sell it on eBay, they're going for $1000+ for the SG model

Why do you care?

No, they're angry. People around here absolutely reject the notion of the watch not being for anyone. It is the greatest gift that Apple has ever bestowed upon them and if you can't also feel that way, then you aren an idiot.

They are not angry just trying to be funny and get someone to like their post. Ignore it.

Goodbye John!

I hope you find happiness at another iPlatform and find a community that never says anything even mildly negative about anything you ever say.

I also hope that you quickly get over your iSadness.

Good luck and thanks for posting a great, great detailed post about how the iWatch doesn't work for you!

I will bookmark this and make sure others understand how John felt and the sadness you had about the return.

My prediction is that after the honeymoon, interest will fade and the watch will be a moderate seller at best. I am never giving up my finely crafted mechanical watch. Apple must know that many won't either. What Apple should have done (and maybe they will) is make something slimmer, think a cross between a Nike Fuel Band and the Apple Watch) that is more like a band with a much smaller screen. Something that can be worn on the opposite wrist to a proper watch. Now THAT is something that would interest me.
