Feel better now?

I never felt bad, so feeling better is not a relevant measure.

It is always good that someone is comfortable with their purchase or with their decision not to keep a purchase. It is about what is right for them, not doing what is expected of them.

There was a person here recently who was going to get rid of ALL their Apple products if any of their iWatch orders were cancelled due to a restriction on the number of iWatch orders per person (hmm. I seem to forgot who that person was). In that case, if they wanted to switch platforms because of that type of issue, I get that and support that.

Because this place has become very cynical at anyone who questions Apple. All he did was come in saying it wasn't for him then he was attacked. Can't say I blame him but sadly you need thicker skin these days.

Ok.. but come on man, he's in the Apple Watch forum on Macrumors. Creates a thread with the wrong product name in the title and proclaims that he has not one but THREE watches and doesn't like it... on release day... all the while there are probably hundreds of people on here chomping at the bit refreshing the Apple order page waiting for their shipment. I don't want to say he's asking for it, but what sort of reaction does he expect?

My prediction is that after the honeymoon, interest will fade and the watch will be a moderate seller at best. I am never giving up my finely crafted mechanical watch. Apple must know that many won't either. .

This seems pretty binary. Either it is at the forefront of a change in how people use a wearable device (not an iWatch just to compete with a regular watch) and it, and your idea of the other type of device becomes ubiquitous, or it becomes less than a moderate seller.

Apple must know that many won't either. What Apple should have done (and maybe they will) is make something slimmer, think a cross between a Nike Fuel Band and the Apple Watch) that is more like a band with a much smaller screen. Something that can be worn on the opposite wrist to a proper watch. Now THAT is something that would interest me.

Your idea is brilliant!

I'm all in... :)

The only reason I'm trying an Apple Watch is curiosity. Period, just to have the experience first hand. I routinely wear one of my handmade Swiss chronograph watches that are 100% mechanical. No battery, no circuit board, no solar, just pure hand crafted, machined, hand fitted, beauty.

Horology at its finest...:)

Don't find it odd at all. As I get older with my job and raising a family my time spent on tech news has gotten slim. I'm sure it has for him. As an Apple fan I'm shocked not to see more of these types of threads. I have been an Apple fan for awhile and have not ran a into an Apple product that has not meet my expectations. With that said the watch is an add on product. People may expect more for the money and it doesn't meet that expectation so are going to return it. That bothers some as their love of Apple products and the expectations are not matching with this product. Pretty sure you can find the same type of threads when the iPad came out. Heck I'm sure the new MacBook forum has these types of threads. They are not anti apple but instead have a expectation that isn't meet with this product. Heck he still has invested more into this product than most here.

You've brought up a point that I'm very interested in.

That point is the nagging question I ponder from time to time... will Apple Watch be a high profile device until the honeymoon is over, then begin to fade?

To save face Apple can easily keep the watch alive for a very long time. It could be a smaller part of their business than the iPhone for an example. If indeed sales dropped dramatically I don't think Apples ego would allow them to discontinue the Watch.

With Apples massive cash hoard they can buy success. The master of spin control, they know exactly what's needed to create the illusion of acceptance.

I had no initial interest. Then I decided I'd buy one to see what the hype was about. Mine arrived about eight hours ago. Now wearing it, oh sure it's shiny and new, different and interesting, but I still don't see a compelling reason for it.

I'll keep using it, keep reading all that's published so as to see what others are using theirs for. I'm going to search diligently through the thousands of apps, perhaps I'll find something, perhaps I won't.

But I will get out of it what I bought it for... The Experience.

I think this obituary is a bit premature. By any objective metric, the Apple Watch has been a smashing success. I think they have done to watches what the iPad did for tablets. In a year, this watch will be ubiquitous.

Exactly, and the dramatic title too. This guy is probably just toying with people especially with the comment he is going to leave the platform because some of the responses he has received. Actually pretty humorous!

I don't understand it either.
From a previous post:

Like many of you, I have been with Apple Products for 20+ years.
BUT, I can promise I will throw every piece of Apple product in the trash if my order gets canceled.

I hope he finds happiness and contentment with whichever platform he choses.

But I will get out of it what I bought it for... The Experience.

That really is an excellent point. (except I think the term is technically "The iExperience".

I haven't worn a watch for ages and yet I ordered one, not for the time keeping (as pointed out earlier, it isn't meant to compete with a traditional watch), but rather for some new experience that I am willing to experiment with.

You read wrong.
My post did NOT say it's dead...
Smashing Success is the illusion Apple has you buying into. We won't know until earnings reports come out months from now. That's a fact, as a long term shareholder, I understand Apple operations very well.

I don't get what the point of this thread is. Why would anyone else care besides you?
I keep hitting the up button, but it won't give me anymore than one!

A long time share holder...in a forum casting doubt (unjustified IMO) on one of their biggest releases and major capital investment for the future. Hmmmm. Shorting?

Maybe. Apple already said they are listing watch revenues under their 'other' category so we really aren't going to get a specific number.

Long enough to know its not for me.
I have 14 days, I'm not taking back tomorrow. Such angry people.

True, but some may call it rushed decision when you decide after few hours.
If I was 50/50, I would give it few days try, and then if not for me, send it back. And that would be the time also when I would share my opinion here. It's nothing wrong with not liking the product, sure enough it's not for all of us. But its not unusual for people to change their mind about products, as they use them. That's why I would have opened this thread after you have giving it a fair try and then send back.
Btw, some people are a bit harsh with their comments, I would not take them to seriously.

...and just as annoying.

Why though? Why do you care what someone calls a product that they own? It's a nickname and doesn't matter. I know someone who calls his MacBook Pro an iBook, just because he has fond memories of those colorful ones from middle school.

You shouldn't let other people annoy you so easily. When you do it's like you're looking for something to complain about. Which makes you no better than the people trashing the Apple Watch on here just for sport.

Seriously, it's irrelevant if you personally find it annoying. Pointing out others' simple mistakes just makes you look like a snob. Which is why that rule is in place. It's beneath every adult on this forum, and something most of you wouldn't do in real life because it's super rude :)
