easy peasy gweezy sauce!?!?!? sweet k, I haven't even turned this baby over yet haha ;)
easy-peasy lemon-squeezy

Remove the battery, loosen 4 screws with a Phillps #00. Install RAM, tighten screws, reinstall battery.

I bought one January 16th and I love it today as much as the day before. Do not hang your happiness on gadgets they will always be replaced :)

Its all temporary and then you upgrade again.

If your MBP is this previous generation, you have the most-likely more stable, and faster machine.

You have the better machine. Don't be swayed by numbers on paper.

Read the article carefully.

hrmm... I'll have to go back and re read the whole thing, thanks

What is the term Santa Rosa mean spec wise when describing the later generation models of the MBP before the recent upgrade?

And if I have the apple logo instead of cmd or command do I not have the Santa Rosa?

Santa Rosa is the internal code name for the generation of that particular Intel processor. Pynron is the latest.

I don't understand your other question. You have a Santa Rosa chipset if you just bought it prior to Tuesday.

Also, newegg.com is ALWAYS cheaper than crucial. I've bought from Dell more recently than I've bought from crucial.

And it's no harder to install memory on this computer than it is any other laptop. Just use the right size screwdriver.

And you drew this conclusion from that article, how?

For someone supposedly so happy with their computer, you seem to spend an awful lot of time trying to reassure yourself.

Dont be sad at all! Not a huge difference, I ran geekbench and it actually a little better in performance of the same spec penryn version! Also multitouch is nice (I've bought a macbook air but returned it) but still can do without long as the 2 finger scroll is still there! And not to mention 3mb of cache compared to the 4mb. And the 15" already has led so not a big deal. =D

dude, your machine is great, i don't get it, why are you sad?

let me make a bet with ya

go and get/borrow whoever owned the new MBP 2.6 Penryn

and place it beside your current SR MBP

try opening the same apps ( photoshop or whatever )

you will get the same result time in opening any apps, yes maybe you will see a difference in Geekbench score

but does it really matter if you can have the same speed outside the score? basically i don't care

i bought my 2.4 MBP 2 1/2 months ago

im damn sure my MBP will have the same performance as the new 2.5 MBP

never feel sad on having a Mac dude, please

KEEP IT. I have the same machine (sans HDD).

Any laptop that I can run Itunes, Safari, transmission, Skype, and have Day of Defeat running in Crossover at 1440x847, each with there own allocated space using spaces is amazing. Sure it gets hot, but this thing is Amazing. And the new MBP's Geek-bench mark is hardily any better than the one we have. ;) SSE4 is overrated.

good looks man, thanks I will buy from them when I get the money then. My other question was about if I actually had the Santa Rosa because I was reading that they didn't have the actual apple logo and instead it said "cmd" or something. But I guess I definitely have it because it had to been some of the last MBP before the penryn update.

I sure was for quite a while but I love my MBP regardless, I've been opened up to a whole new world of efficiency. My old laptop sounded like I had an airport in my dorm room.

I debated getting a MBA for a long time. I love the whole remote optical drive deal and mainly the quick booting with the sweet HD... Does the penryn have that too? Does the new one have 3mb of L2 Cache or is that the SR MBP?

other people don't have /can't buy an MBP at all..
i think they're more deserving of the sadness you're experiencing" right now.

most of the times, i feel like we, in this forum are living in bubble..

Yeah I love my battery performance... I hope it stays this well after so many cycles. I try to let it drain out from time to time after it 100%

haha yeah that is true... I work hard for this though ;)

okay this is probably not what I think it is, but I see something different in a picture than what should be there.... its on the apple.com site under the macbook pro.. on the fifth picture to the right it is a MBP but it looks like the case is black with blue keyboard lights. Go to http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/design.html click on the right picture... does it not look like a silver mbp trimmed with a black keyboard and like black around the lcd? Even the lighted keyboard looks more blue than purple... hmm... maybe its too late for me.. mabye i am just seeing things..... dunnnooo

Don't be sad. Your machine is still incredible. Is it your first mac? Besides, now you can keep it for a year and then sell it and buy the true MBP update with blu ray, gun metal case, etc. that they put out next year.

multitouch trackpad....umm
I have a logitech VX nano mouse, so i don't need multitouch =P

be happy with your machine! It can last for at least 3 years.

Yeah this is my first mac, I absolutely love it. I'll probably never sell this even when I buy my next one- I can't wait.
