The best feature for me is the cover flow while browsing the history. But accessing it is quite a hassle;

1- Cmd+Shift+1 brings the Top sites.
2- Pressing tab key 3 times gets me to the history view.

There must be a shortcut for this.

Ctrl+click on the toolbar.
Choose "Customize Toolbar..."
Drag the "Add Bookmark" button to the toolbar. That should clear the plus sign that you wanna get rid of.
Drag the "Add Bookmark" button of the toolbar this time.
Voila!

Noooo, it's not the plus button I want to get rid of.......

slower

I gotta say, I find the new safari 4, SLOWER than the beta. When I open my morning folder of 12 sites, it takes MUCH more time to load all those pages. So, either muli-threading is worse, or the whole thing is worse. Some sites, I have to RELOAD to get to load just the first time even.

Safari 4... Pros or Cons?

How is everyone liking Safari 4?

I haven't made the download, but I wanted to see if everyone feels if it is as fast as they say...

any Pros/Cons?

tabs on top sucked for me... sometimes when I would click on a tab, it would double click it and move the whole safari window around

I find it faster. I stopped using Top Sites in the earlier builds for Safari because they took up too much memory. I prefer the tabs on the bottom but would have liked tabs on top with a redesign. Every time I clicked on Safari at the top to switch to it, it would go to that tab. Poor design.

I really liked the tabs on top, but after several posts, I did move the window most of the time and remember sending it to the Dock once or twice. I guess tabs on bottom are an improvement.

I get used to something and they change it, then I have to get used to something else. I gripe about the changes until I get used to them. Then they change it again. . . .

So far, it has crashed many times. I installed it on 3 machines and all exhibit the same behavior. Other than that it seems fine.

over 500mb to read macrumors. Ill take another pic when I try a more intense site.

Do not get me wrong I like it. I will just up my ram. Not a issue for me.

I like it a lot and haven't had any crashing issues (I've been using it since they first released the public beta), but it is a memory hog.

i downloaded the sec it came out. im a pc sadly but have had no crash issues (on vista ultimate w/2gb ram)

i like the topsites and cover flow history but the only cons are the amount of ram it uses other wise its the fastest browser ive used

its a real pain when im at school using ie7 which feels immensely slow now

This release is pretty solid, although the one glaring bug that they haven't addressed yet is how crappy Safari is a displaying animated .gif's.

Smooth to use, and well integrated into OS X.

I am starting to wonder why animated gifs are becoming a hassle. I know the latest release of Microsoft Outlook doesn't allow animated gifs, but that is Microsoft ;) ...and my expectations for Safari 4 and Apple are drastically different.

I downloaded Safari 4 on my PC at work...and I can see how users are liking the Top Sites view. But, I haven't noticed a faster browsing experience with Safari 4 - I am going to flash heavy sites, and streaming video as well. Yet again, I am on a PC right now, and this can arguably be a PC issue.

...still going to wait on updating my precious so-called 'Collectors Edition' MacBook :D and iMac

It's a pretty solid release but does anyone notice that it uses more CPU resources than Safari 3 (and I don't mean in Top Sites). I don't think this is present in Safari 3 but in 4, try scrolling rapidly up and down with the trackpad and if you have iStat menu installed, CPU usage will jump and temperatures will increase as well.

As a life-long Firefox user, thought I'd give Safari 4 a try. Found it pretty fast and like the Top Sites view. But now I'm awaiting Firefox 3.5 RC1 for a comparison...
