I tried removing Flash, but it seemed to prevent my plug-in that blocks auto-play videos from working. Seems that there is no good way to block auto-play HTML5 content.

So for now I leave Flash installed so that I can block those $#!%!! auto-play videos from auto playing.

I also need Flash because vSphere Web Client only runs in Flash - stupid!

There is one area that Apple cannot use the term for battery, and that's the desktop...

iOS made sense, but why an iMac when it's on A/C ? Apple in control yet again... its a computer, not meant to be a limited more of a limited device. but Apple's making it that way by default.

I just hope Chrome doesn't go this route, because i use that because i can't be bothered installing Flash in Firefox..

Apple won't understand although slow and un-efficient, how many website will disappear.. just because they won't use HTML5, or can't. I'll cringe to see the day if Apple ever prevents on OS level.

Flash, I love you but weve only got 24 hours ......, actually your a bit past it old fella.

Time to go on and make way for HTML 5, css something else and javascripty whatsit.

Thanks for all you did for me, publish once and render the same on all desktops, I am sure the others will learn in time. Now it's time to go, let them do their work.

I'm using a desktop, haven't had Flash installed for almost a year, and there's exactly one page in that time that I couldn't see content on. I actually do miss Flash in a way, but only because I could disable it easily with ClickToFlash (back when I had it installed) and not be annoyed by animated video ads. No such luck these days.

Adobe Flash is OBNOXIOUS. It caused random kernel panics in my Mac mini. It drove me nuts until I found it.

Once Facebook games go HTML5, Flash will officially be dead.

There are games on Facebook ????
Who knew.... oh and who cares.

Must mean the Facebook plugin is doing its job as 99% of the crap is hidden from me, makes Facebook almost useable.

So glad to see Flash go, but really sad that Apple is removing support for other, far less well-known plugins when their browser doesn't support the open web standards that could replace them. The main one that's important for me is the Web MIDI API which the Jazz-Soft plugin emulates currently, but won't in Sienna. For a company such as Apple which talks so much about unlocking musical creativity (Esa-Pekka Salonen iPad ads, etc.) to not support MIDI devices in the browser comes across as hypocritical.

Maybe I will no longer see the Adobe® Flash® Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation message while reading MacRumors and then have the computer freeze.

Bring it on!

That's fine Apple. But you are WAY BEHIND on WebRTC. Where is it? Even in Safari Technology Review, it's completely absent!

My startup (Inzite) Is crying out for WebRTC support. We have native HTML5 and WebRTC support, but unfortunately we need to divert people over to Chrome for any video calls at the moment.

We were hoping for WebRTC announcements at the WWDC, but unless I've missed an announcement, it's not forthcoming.

In Safari 10, set to ship with macOS Sierra, Apple plans to disable common plug-ins like Adobe Flash, Java, Silverlight, and QuickTime by default in an effort to focus on HTML5 content and improve the overall web browsing experience.

As explained by Apple developer Ricky Mondello in a post on the WebKit blog, when a website offers both Flash and HTML5 content, Safari will always deliver the more modern HTML5 implementation. On a website that requires a plug-in like Adobe Flash to function, users can activate it with a click as can be done in Google's Chrome browser.

Safari 10 will also include a command to reload a page with installed plug-ins activated to give users additional options for controlling the content that's displayed, and there are preferences for choosing which plug-ins are visible to which websites in Safari's Security preferences.

Apple recommends web developers implement features using technologies built into Safari to avoid forcing users to activate plug-ins.

Plug-ins like Adobe Flash and Java have been problematic for Apple, requiring frequent security fixes and forced updates to patch an unending stream of vulnerabilities. Apple has long had a policy of blocking older versions of web plug-ins from functioning and its change in Safari 10 is another push towards fully retiring the older technology.

Will Safari 10 include WEBRTC also on mobile ?

nice idea I admit.

But definitely not convincing me into updating to a new operating system. the current one already causes me enough problems.
