This is also present on the iPad Air 2, and i wonder if it occurs on the other 2GB devices (mini 4, 6S/6S+). It's super annoying and almost spoils the device for me because it occurs quite frequently on pages i visit regularly.

It most certainly is not attributable to ad blockers, because I've switched them off and I have also recreated the issue on mulitiple Air 2/iPad Pros in the the Apple store.

To recreate the issue:
Go to this rather simple site: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/

It should load fine in a new tab; however, if you go to an image heavy page (e.g. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1046854&page=5), load it up, and then next in that same tab go to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/ again, you'll see there is terrible rendering lag when scrolling down the page. If you open a new tab and load ozbargain, it will render fine, but it will continue to render poorly within the original tab.

You may not think it's a big deal, since you can get around it by simply opening a new tab and closing the problematic one, but I find it takes away a lot of fluidity from the browsing experience.

Interesting! This did it for me, even though I have never seen this issue before now. I wonder if that can simply be explained by browsing habits? I tend to use (and close) a lot of tabs... so maybe I just don't leave one tab open long enough to run into this?

At any rate, since you can reproduce it you should put in a bug report.

Huh, I didn't see any problems following those instructions.

I'm using an ad blocker, and it's most certainly not fixed with Crystal ad blocker installed, as it has been for months for me.

My Air 2 had this issue, - same with the iPad Pro.

I also use Crystal (got it for free when it was free for the first day or so of being up on the App Store) and I haven't come across any slow down issues as a result of Crystal.

This issue still persists in 9.3 BETA 6 on my iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro. So tired of having to close Safari completely and re-open it to not have the screen draw as I scroll down pages.

Can you send the URL for those lagging websites? I've been using IPP since 3/2 and never had any problem whatsoever.

It isnt necessarily a single web page it miss behaves upon, but a culmination or build up of ram leakage from several web pages or heavey web use. Some web sites just push it 'over the edge' so to speak.

Lagging happened on my Air 2 and also my IPP. If you want to see it come to a crawl, go to eBay, search something like iPads and start scrolling. I honestly believe its a memory issue with the browser because when I reset the memory (power, home screen) everything works again.

Same experience here. Clearing out the RAM makes everything smooth, at least until the next bottleneck.

For whatever reason, I notice it on amazon often.

I really thought the extra 2GB would help but it didn't make a difference. Kind of ruins the experience for me. I have an iPhone 6S Plus and have never noticed it.

Did you load the gif heavy page in its entirety and then in the same tab load ozbargain.com.au and scroll down? I've tested it on numerous devices and it's occurred every time.

I don't exhibit the same problem you do, however. I have no issues with anything and it doesn't lag at all for me. Instagram works just fine the only sites that "lag" or stutter when trying to scroll is Engadget.com.

This. No specific web site. Even just text-based web sites will have to draw in upon scrolling when it goes south.

I'd been using Crystal since the beginning too, but noticed recently that more and more ads were creeping through. So I gave 1Blocker a try and it's like night and day.

1Blocker if far superior in every way imaginable, it's hugely customizable, tons of features and you can even create your own custom blocking rules.

I was getting the Safari issues as well when using Crystal, but since I switched its all buttery smooth. No I'm not in any way affiliated with 1Blocker, I just think it's the far, far superior app.

Give it a go, even the free version is better than Crystal.

I have plenty of issues with Safari on iPad Pro, though they're all present on my iPhone too. I've found myself using Chrome much more than I used to, especially on iPad Pro since it serves up desktop versions of websites much more reliably.
Yeah for some reason i am experiencing a lot of lag with the iPad Pro lately, pages not loading, did quite a few reset (thought it would be maybe a cache/network problem but it seem to appear after an hour after reseting all settings). Don't worry everything is backed up on iCloud.

I'm using Chrome on the iPad, seems more flipper then Safari and more smooth stable and have experienced any of the lags or page refreshes that happens with the Safari browser quite frankly. Could it have something do with the hardware? Is there something in the code that is not jelling welll with the processor? I don't know just a thought. Bad Ram? I don't know just flying through silly theories.

Yup there's always the possibility that the code needs work. Actually, let's not kid ourselves, The code for Safari needs drastically overhauled in places has done for quite some time on all iOS devices.

Like you I had been using Chrome for some sites that just didn't do so great in Safari for whatever stupid bloody reason Apple needs to sort out. But since I installed 1Blocker I've been stunned at the difference. Chrome is now uninstalled.

I'm really nothing to do with the developers, couldn't actually tell you the name of the company off the top of my head. But do the test that's in this thread for Safari where you visit a couple of websites. Do a before installing the blocker and after installing and switching it on. You'll see an instant difference. Im such a happy wee (well, no so wee :D ) chappie now.

I haven't had these issues, but I have others... sometimes keyboard shortcuts stop working in Safari until I quit the app and relaunch. And so far from 9.0-9.2, pressing Space bar in safari scrolls MORE than one page making it useless.
