Develop menu, use "Empty caches" wait a few seconds. Safari on the latest version very rare to see a java script that causes excessive memory still. I can say I used to see that a few months back, not for awhile.
Thanks for the response and reference to the caches. Given that Safari is Apple's offering to all Mac users, most wont for whatever reason engage cache being manually emptied throughout the day. If I recall correctly, Opera has some sort of management control on RAM and resources but that may have been in the past. Either way, it does show someone out there does recognize the issue with bad actor sites that gobble up RAM and resources.
 
Everything was always faster than MS Internet Exploder. I used Chimera in the first years of MacOS X. Later renamed Camino. Back then it opened many websites so much faster than a Windoze PC even with double GHz.

Today I use Safari and Firefox.
Chrome not, since it mines al browsing history for Google.
