Tried & tried & tried to order through the Apple website, which was pretty much non-functional (total, TOTAL fail Apple...).

What browser were you using? Chrome was not working for me on my PC, so I had to use the Edge browser. If that wouldn't have worked, I would have tried Safari on my MBA.

It had nothing to do with the browser (Safari). It had everything to do with apple.com. Their website went completely down leading up to the preorder time, with a message saying "Access Denied" (the entire apple website, not just the store). Once the preorder time came around and the site came back, it would continually show the message "We are prepping the store for you", blah blah blah. It was a total disaster.

Didn't we talk on the same threads last year cause we got screwed? I think I remember the grumpy mom name.... Anyways I wanted to get word out cause I didn't want anybody to go through what we did last year. I am picking mine up in store from here on out. Since my store is 5 min away. Hope you and your husband get on launch
But don't tell your boss you'll be in by 9 that day even with an 8am pickup. Been there/done that. There will still be a line at Apple Store. One line will be crazy long of people who haven't pre-ordered.. But there will still be a line of likely anywhere from 25-50 people who are picking up preorders too. And unlike getting it delivered - Apple will not simply let you out of the store with the box. They'll make you activate it IN STORE.. Which will add wait time. Never understood why they make you activate it IN STORE. So if you're lucky you'll be outta there 8:45-9:15'ish at the earliest.

Does anyone know what it means to use the Reserve to buy in store option on Apple.com? AT&T screwed up something on my account (IMEI#) and I ended up getting an in store reservation for a 6S+ in Rose Gold on 9/25 @ 8:30a central.

I did the same thing. It means we don't have to wait for a delivery guy. We get to go in and be the first ones to get it.. Yeeee

I make my own hours for work, advantages of Working for my self. And I need to transfer my apple care over and do other stuff so going in is better for me. And I want to check out the Rose gold. I have the first time to get in. The best thing about it for me is I am in a small town. So there won't be 20-50 people...

Yeah. Our one here in King of Prussia, PA is a smaller mall store too. But still very popular. In the early years of iPhone I always was first there to stand in the line for non-pre-order.. And I always walked out of the store with my new phone on launch day long before people got their pre-order shipments. I too have flex hours for being in business for myself.

IPhone 6 There is every color of every storage capacity available for ship date of 25th. 6+ 2-3 weeks out. So I don't think any of us are going to have any problems with getting on launch. Next year tho, that is when we will need to be on our toes...

Just get it straighten out right now before...or at least let them tell you what you need to do on the 25th... Pre plan

"In Mall" stores - without a street direct entrance to Apple Store don't allow early "camp over" lines. I arrive around 8:00am at the main door to mall and there's only ever been 5-10 others there with me. Mall opens at 9.

But in recent years I've gotten lazy. Last two years I did preorder and just waited at home for the delivery guy. For some reason in my area UPS (or FedEX, never remember) comes very late. Between 830 and 9 PM.

Ouch, my UPS guy comes at 10am-11am. But my store is a mall store too. I know the mall opens at 9 but the Apple Store opens at 8. Does that mean mall doors will be open at 8 or earlier to wait inside in front of store? If you know..

They will open a particular door, where the iPhone line forms only.

So we can wait inside in front of Apple Store before 8am?
There will be a dedicated waiting area outside the mall the day before. When the store is open the line will be ushered into the mall outside the Apple store. Employees will come to the line and give out reservations based on the model you chose. You will then be ushered into the store in groups.

That sounds like for the people that don't have a reservation. My reservation is 8am so it sounds like I am one of the first to get in... Yeeeeee. Can't wait

Yes. You will have a very short wait.

Oh man i cant wait, just talked to my local Apple store and he said even last year not that many people were waiting since we are a smaller town. here is to the little guys. hip hip, horray..lol
