Ha. Funny. You seem confused.

It's an iPad Pro. Therefore, it has the same form factor as an iPad. It also runs the same OS as an iPad. If it has OS X support it wouldn't be an iPad. You don't have to buy the pencil and you don't have to buy a keyboard.

What you want is a MacBook Pro.

Macbook Pro. Doesn't run iOS. No touch screen. Non detachable keyboard. What the hell makes it a Pro?

Posted from my Macbook Pro....

I wonder what repercussions there are, if any, when a retailer leaks a release date like this.

It's WalMart. The can pretty much do what they want with a supplier and if the supplier doesn't like it, tough. They routinely dictate terms to suppliers because they know they are often a significant fraction of the supplier's volume.

Why no confirmation from Apple? if pre-orders are starting Monday for pick-up & in-store sales on Friday 13th then why haven't they said anything yet. I hope the iPad Pro isn't going to be the same ****ing shambles the MB and Watch launches turned out to be.

It will be shambles! (Which is in they eye of the beholder)

Any time a product is scarce (as in not enough produced yet) and lots of people want one, there will be delays in getting one until production catches up with demand.

Anybody working in production or purchasing knows why!

Unless you are an artist and want a Wacom alternative, I still don't understand why someone would buy this over a Macbook...It's the same device only it's a tablet, but you can do "more" with a macbook

Apple seems to have lost control over the third party re-sellers. This kind of "announcement" is surely not going to make Apple happy. They should be the ones to release info on their product.

True, and very true. But it has it's uses. The form factor is one. A laptop/clamshell, design is very different than a slate. Then there's the specialized OS.

The question of value is perhaps your point. If it's value your after, well......

Most of the people here that are excited, know exactly what they want and are getting. It's a matter of usage. Those who previously bought an iPad which is now sitting in a drawer somewhere are not going to warm to this very expensive 'drawer warmer'.

iPad pro.. No 3D Touch. Over priced $100 stylus overpriced keyboard. No Mac OS support, still only iOS. What the hell does the "PRO" stand for? Does it mean intentionally half baked for PROfit?

Maybe PROfessional who have the money to buy it.

The only possible reasons I have are: larger screen for bettering viewing on the bus, LTE support and light weight compared with a laptop.

I think you're numbers are pretty much spot-on, although I'm not sure about price comparisons across product categories.

Look at US$ prices within the same product family then use the same percentage jump:

Base-line iPad Air 2 (16gb) is $499
Base-line iPad Pro (32gb) is $799
That's about ~160% jump

So

Base-line iPad Air 2 (16gb) is £399
x ~160%
Gives ~£639 for the Base-line Pro

Double check with existing product lines for comparison:

iPad Mini 4 (16gb) is ~80% price of iPad Air 2 (16gb) in both US$ and £.

Apple TV 4 (32gb) is ~217% of Apple TV 3rd Gen in both currencies.

Use the same formula to get these approx iPad Pro prices:

iPad Pro (32gb) £639
iPad Pro (128gb) £759
iPad Pro (128gb+Cellular) £859

We'll know in a few days hopefully and don't put it past Apple to 'round up' the prices a tad. I'm fully expecting to be wrong.

Yeah it is a tricky one, we also get cheated sometimes in the UK on pricing, but the US prices on Apple.com don't include sales tax. I don't think anyone can say for certain the pricing when Apple charges 12 grand for a watch. But I also don't think they will breach the MacBook Air pricing with the iPad Pro.

For me it's somewhat of an unknown, exactly how I will use it. I'm buying it for specific usages, but who knows. I may find other uses.

Popular warehouse chain Sam's Club has started accepting pre-orders for Apple's iPad Pro on its website, and has listed a release date of Friday, November 13 for the device. Sam's Club began advertising the iPad Pro in emails sent out to members this morning.

Sam's Club is accepting pre-orders for the 32 and 128GB Wi-Fi iPad Pro models in Space Gray, Silver, and Gold, but it is not selling the 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Sam's Club is also selling the device at a slight discount, pricing the two models at $787 for 32GB and $937 for 128GB, compared to Apple's pricing of $799 and $949.

Previous rumors suggested the iPad Pro would launch on Wednesday, November 11, but Friday, November 13 perhaps makes more sense as November 11 is Veterans Day in the United States. Beyond Sam's Club, an iPad Pro accessory maker has also claimed that Chinese resellers will be receiving iPad Pros on November 11 ahead of a November 13 launch.

Earlier this week, Apple's Eddy Cue spoke at the Dropbox Open conference where he referenced the iPad Pro and said it would be "only a few more days" until the device would be available for purchase. It remains unclear if Apple will begin accepting pre-orders next week or if the iPad Pro will go on sale without a pre-order period.

Pricing on the iPad Pro starts at $799 for the 32GB Wi-Fi only version and goes up to $1,079 for a 128GB Wi-Fi + Cellular model. The Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard, its two accessories, are sold separately for $99 and $169, respectively.

Update: As of 2 p.m. Pacific Time on Friday, Sam's Club is sold out of iPad Pro pre-orders.

Update 2: MacMall is also accepting pre-orders for the iPad Pro, but the site says orders won't ship for nine days, which would have orders arriving after the prospective November 11 or November 13 launch date. The device is estimated to be in stock at MacMall on November 15.

My 128 GB iPad cost $1,000 (although, with a trade in and X-Mas specials my net cost was around $600) and I still regret the decision. I love it for consumption purposes, but I can't create anything on it - can barely take decent notes anymore since all of a sudden my Keyboard stopped functioning properly with the iOS8 update.

I am not sure if anyone else mentioned this or not, but STAPLES is currently taking pre-orders for the iPad Pro on their website.

I don't think this is something Apple would be making 'angry calls' about.
I think when these orders are placed and the stores allocate stock - Apple see the stock that is pre-ordered and adjust their delivery inventory accordingly.

It's not a 'mistake' these places are taking pre orders. It s a giant pre-emptive stock check and its getting the forums buzzing and seed those stories right into our laps.

Anybody think these are all third-party delayed dates, and when Apple goes live those who order will be able to walk into store immediately, or get one before these aforementioned retail outlets?

I think they will sell out. Usual Apple tactics. Create the buzz, annoy people because they can't get one, wait 4 days, everyone gets one.

We are being drip-fed by their marketing department and we love it !

PRO means professional, but yeah. ;) It can also mean PROfit, as you say. Apple wants to increase its margin profits so that they can construct more solar panels around the globe. And, construct more "UFO" like campuses, with solar panels, of course.
The weight per se isn't the issue, it is whether it will be awkward to use for games, browsing, etc
Playing certain music games on an iPad mini is already an awful experience. I doubt many other games could run well on such a huge iPad, no matter where we hold this thing. But, maybe some games made for child could bring something different. We can, say, slide view both games, and one side for one child. ;)

More is relative. If the pen actually allows note taking without having to hold your hand strangely to avoid confusing the digitizers and has no lag I'll buy one. I can't do that with my Macbook Pro.

If Evernote can take the results and convert it to text I'd be ecstatic.

Friday 13th .... that's a good idea!

Learn to love 13; it's a Fibonacci number.

Still no date for the UK. However, I doubt I’ll get the Pro now, despite admiring it. If I sell my Air 2, I'd only get £200 for it, which would make it an expensive sale, considering that I've only had it for a year. Maybe I could give it to a friend or family member instead.

I have the shopping devil on one shoulder and the abstinence Angel on another...

If you add the iPad Pro to your shopping cart on the Staples website, it show it being released on November 8th. However, the Pencil and keyboard are showing not being released until November 25th. That's too bad, the main reason I want the Pro is for these two other devices, especially the Pencil.
