If you add the iPad Pro to your shopping cart on the Staples website, it show it being released on November 8th. However, the Pencil and keyboard are showing not being released until November 25th. That's too bad, the main reason I want the Pro is for these two other devices, especially the Pencil.
Oddly enough, when i went there it should the Pencil as "available now" but not available for pickup. Of course, it isn't the first time Stap;les messed up their website information.

Macbook Pro. Doesn't run iOS. No touch screen. Non detachable keyboard. What the hell makes it a Pro?

Posted from my Macbook Pro....

What makes a MacBook Pro a Pro? It doesn't run a different OS. If it did then maybe it would be a pro. (iPad Pro isn't a pro logic used)

Look, "Pro"=better specs and bigger. I think that discription fits the IPad Pro.

- Giant videos, giant games, giant documents and web pages.

My 27" 4k display is laughing at you. Giant, really? Even my 2011 13" MBP is laughing at you if you think that tiny toy is giant.

- Faster than my current iPad.

The 4 year old laptop is laughing even harder.

A real computer is so much nicer than an iTouch with a 12" screen.

I pre-ordered the iPad Pro from MacMall and received an email from ShopRunner (free 2-day shipping!) saying my expected delivery date was November 11th. I'm pretty sure it's just an automated response, but wouldn't that be nice?

I guess you miss the whole point of an iPad. It was never meant as a replacement for a desktop computer. I too have a 27" 4K with an i7 processor, and also an iPad Air. Two different devices, each for much different use. I travel a lot, and drawing the iMac through an airport doesn't seem to practical, or going to meetings and taking notes on it. Building complex websites doesn't seem to practical on an iPad. Different devices for different purposes. I don't know why so many here complain that an iPad doesn't run OS X. I wouldn't want it to. A mobil device should run a mobile operating system, with quick, instant opening apps for specific tasks.

I have no idea when I'll be able to get mine. I'm using my built up store credit at an Apple retailer to get it, and this means I have to wait until the store has it, and has it in the color, GB size etc that I want. They normally get their supply of new devices in a day or two late, and only a few items which go fast. They will not, in the idea of fairness, set one aside, nor call to let you know when and what they received. Therefore, all I can do is keep going down there until I luck out and the fates ensure that what I want is there when I arrive.

If Microsoft releases the surface 4 with LTE, I'm not sure which would be better. Microsoft is really making amazing hardware. I still like OSX over windows 10, but where have all of Apple's hardware engineers gone?

I didn't miss the point at all. It's just hilarious that people like the genius I was replying to call it a giant gaming screen a fast machine. It's an extremely limited machine in every way but these people can't see out of their narrow little world view. So they think a minor change to a very restricting product is revolutionary and life-changing. I do have an iPad 4 as well as the desktop and laptop. I really don't see a bigger iPad as much of a big deal.

And as for a mobile devising running a mobile operating system....my laptop is a mobile device. A 12 inch tablet with the same OS as the 3.5 inch iTouch is just a bad joke.

One word: sofa.

I use the laptop on the sofa. The iPad is a pita to use on the sofa. There's no good way to hold it so you can touch the screen and view it. At least the laptop can sit on my chest and be easy to use. And sitting up, I have to hold the tablet. The laptop sits on my lap far more comfortably.

I'm having a hard time seeing what you're seeing. What exactly do you find so special about the Surface?

It's heavier than the iPad Pro (even though the iPad has a larger display), and with the soft keyboard, it's even heavier than a MacBook.

iPad Pro has 4 speakers that orient the sound in real time depending on how the iPad is held. Apple's Pencil coupled with the new display eliminates lag for the first time, setting a new bar for how styluses should work. And let's not forget Apple's impressive custom silicon.

Don't get me wrong I love apple but is anyone actually going to be buying this thing? You do realize you can buy a macbook pro for the cost of that tablet right?

You can't be serious. You're comparing a capacitive hack to a real digitizer- based pen. Both nTrig and Wacom pen are significantly better than the iPad pencil WRT palm rejection, cursor hovering etc.

Which surface are you comparing it too, the surface 3 LTE that came out in May? Not sure that is fair to compare it to a product that is unreleased. The reason I can't compare the newly released Surface 4 pro to the ipad pro is that they are completely different animals and the Surface Pro 4 is a full laptop meant to compete with Macbook that doesn't have LTE. But what does the Surface 4 pro have that the Macbook doesn't? touch screen, a freakin USB port, and micro SD. I didn't like the micro USB charging port, Apple's magsafe2 charger was may better, but Apple ditched it in the new macbook!

The surface 3 LTE is heavier then an Ipad Air 2, but has a lot more productivity. I went shopping with someone that needed business productivity where their current Ipad was failing. And they went with the surface 3 LTE which is a shame because a new one is just around the corner. But if you need it and can't wait, then you do what you need to.

The point of all this and all I could think of yesterday was Apple has serious competition now. I still hate windows but man has Microsofts new hardware catch up or surpassed Apple in some areas. And the new surface book is pretty awesome, except I think it broke while I was playing with it. And the microsoft band is a horrible joke. But I can see Apple eventually going down the road of the Surface book, just like the Ipad Pro is similar to the Surface.

What work do you do on your laptop while sitting on your couch with it on your chest, that you couldn't do on an iPad?

Are you guys all writing code, and doing CAD applications that you need these higher powered laptops?

I use my iPad for TripCase, Booking.com checking in my flight on the United and Delta apps etc. All this type of thing is actually much better on the iPad than on the iMac. I do my expense reports on Concur on the iPad... again much better. Check an email, stock price...again much quicker on the iPad than starting up a full operating system. Once I bought the iPad Air, I never use my laptop anymore, and actually never take it when I travel.

Just got notification that B&H has started accepting Pre-Orders and they are offering the 128GB (Wi-fi Only, any color) for $949 for those who may be interested.

Four words: Macbook Works onsofa Too

4^2 words:

Do work an entire flight from boarding to landing without having to turn off the device.

Different needs, different tools. As a mobile device there are a number of scenarios where it is simply more convent to use; jus as my MB Pro is a lot better in other scenarios.

So? I can buy a Dell for the price of an iPad Air but that doesn't mean it is a better thing to do. I can't for example, use a second MBP as a second monitor when traveling. I can't use it during taxi and takeoff or landing. It doesn't have built in LTE. I can't write on the screen with a pen and have the MBP keep the marking in a file, plus it's hard to erase a Sharpie from my screen. White out is a lot easier to remove, plus it lets me know a Michigan grad borrowed my Mac to do some editing.

I like the idea of a larger second monitor when traveling, although my Air is pretty good as is. The buying decision will be based, for me, on how well the digitizers works. Replicate writing on paper and I'm sold. If not, I'll wait for V2.

The physical form of the laptop is more comfortable on the couch. The laptop helps support itself at a comfortable angle. The iPad is a solid slab of dead weight you have to hold in a comfortable viewing position.

As far as writing code...typing anything longer than a web search or text message is a horrible experience on the iPad. Even for short emails or forum posts, I'd rather have no device and just watch TV than use an iPad.

That actually reminds me...so much content just doesn't work on the iPad. I was looking up snow tires on costco's website last night and could not get the search by tire size feature to work on an iPhone. On a computer it just works. Sure the problem is 100% costco's fault, but what good does that do me? And don't even get started on all the sites that still use flash and won't work at all on an iPad. Again I'll agree with you to blame the website, but you're still the one left out in the cold.

You're talking about checking email, stock price, etc. Is that all you do? What about composing an email to reply to what you just checked? When I check stock prices, I also check the near-money option prices and their Greeks. That becomes very clunky with an iPad. Though I rarely do check stocks while sitting on the couch.

I compose replies just fine on my iPad, as well buy things, write documents, etc. I find it quite useful, but YMMV. I can function quite nicely with my iPad on a day trip and not have lug along my MBP. If it doesn't work for you, fine, but that's why Apple builds different devices to meet people's differing needs. I personally find the 12 and 13 inch MB's screens to small to be useful as a computer but others use them and like them; which is fine.
