The gist of this forum thinks that all of a,sudden apple comes out with nfc and in like 5 min it's the reason it took off and it's complete bull crap.

Nfc is where it is today because of SAMSUNG

Uh. No. If you want to get technical Nokia had NFC before Samsung. Anyway, NFC payment activity tripled in the US after the Apple Pay launch.

There are some questions, such as how this system will work when chip cards become standard in the U.S. The magnetic strips won't work if the payment terminal accepts chip cards. That's probably why it's coming out in the U.S. first. And even then it isn't going to work until the summer, with chip cards coming in August.

Also, apparently Visa and Mastercard were able to get this working with tokenization since they already did a lot of the back-end work getting Apple Pay to work.

And the imac has barely changed for about a decade?

If you are talking about basic shape, no, it hasn't changed. By there's only so much change that can happen - you need a display, keyboard etc.
But the smaller details have changed - rounded, tapered edges.

The iPhone 6 looks more like the S4 and S5 than the Galaxy's looked like the iPhone 5. So who copied who?

The S3-S5 are ugly ducklings. None of the iPhone's looked like those devices. Samsung's best looking devices came from iPhone's design language.

Exactly. Its not about if the technology was there before, but how it is adopted and how the market is developing. And there Apple Pay no doubt has a big influence. See also here https://gigaom.com/2014/11/05/thank...t-nfc-use-is-growing-fast-thats-a-good-thing/

Samsung Pay, are you kidding me?

Anything that continues to push mobile payments into the mainstream lifts all boats. And if they want to give their solution a name that will make people think "oh, just like Apple Pay", that's fine.

Remember: CurrentC is the enemy.

Killer

Its an iPhone Killer. I always wanted to say that, everyone has been saying it for years.

I don't agree.

Owned an S4, S5 and iPhone 6 and they really look nothing alike.

The S6 however does seem to borrow many elements from the iPhone 6 and iPhone 4/4S.

This is not a bad thing. The S6 is the most stunning looking device since the iPhone 4/4S. iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 are not all that impressive to me.

But one issue I have with both sides is: how many ways can you design a big rectangle?

Apple's earlier phones looked unique because their small size allowed for different design. With large phones you need to have a rounded rectangle to allow comfort when holding. Once you hit that stage there isn't a while lot you can do.

Samsung and Apple phones will potential look very similar until someone uses a non-recatngualr design.

But I will say that, to me, Apple's designs look higher quality. The metal finish and the camera especially. Apples metal camera ring at the top left looks much better than Samsung's big square in the middle.

So compared to the 1632 I just rendered on my iPhone 6, the single core score isn't that impressive. So, just as I said, it's relying on brute force (quad-core). Mobile apps aren't that great at using multiple cores yet, and with less overhead from the streamlined touchwiz, it's not clear how well it will actually benefit from the 3rd and 4th cores. It's got lots of pixels to push, and they didn't mention GPU specs.

Let's wait for AnandTech to run its full suite of tests before we declare Samsung the greatest SOC designer in the world. Remember, it's using a stock ARM design, just like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Supposedly the 810 has heating issues, so if Samsung cracked that with the 14nm process, more power to them, but it seems that Apple still has some tricks up its sleeve.

Big little is made to use 8 cores your powerful single cores could not run at 2.3ghz and your SoC can not run 4 of them let alone 8.

You are stuck on single core when everything is gone multicore.

Do you have a dual core clocked at 3.5ghz in your computer or a quad clocked at 2.8?

Agreed. I loved the iPhone 4/4S with the glass back. I am so happy Samsung did that. I know many hated the glass back due to their own negligence. I do wish though that the bottom of the S6 didn't look like the iPhone 6, because i hate that design. I'm just glad Samsung made touch wiz optimized and not lag anymore.

Hopefully the U.S gets a blue 128GB version.

I'd put it like this, pound for pound, what about the iPhone 6 is a premium device compared to the S6?

If your only answer is iOS, then Apple is outclassed by a wide margin.

My argument is that the iPhone 6+ is a blatant copy of Samsung's Galaxy Note line.

So far, that argument has not been sufficienty disproven as it is a product that is a direct response to Samsung's Galaxy Note.

Game. Set. Match.

You didn't make an argument. You made a statement and supported it with nothing more. Why would the iphone 6+ be a response to the galaxy note line only and not the trend towards larger screened phones?

I could never use a Samsung phone because of TouchWiz, but damn I do like the look of the S6 Edge.

The iPhone has had better build quality than the Galaxy line. You can see and feel the quality difference.

Real Reason to Upgrade...

The real reason to buy the new Samsung phone is if you want an Android phone that runs the latest OS. I have a few friends that have Android phones and it's laughable how long they have to wait to get the latest OS after it's been released. My friend with a Samsung S3 had to wait almost 2 years to get KitKat...pretty sure he doesn't have Lollipop...pathetic.

If you're going to bother to pay the money for a premium smartphone, you might as well buy an iPhone and actually get a premium experience. There are more apps, more accessories, more frequent OS updates, and the phone just works.

I would only buy an Android phone if I were dirt poor and even then I'd be tempted to buy a Windows Phone instead.

How many negative media reviews do you see of actual Apple products?

The keyword is "actual". That's why I said ironic.

Meanwhile Samsung will be forgotten once they are released until (and I said this as "if") they beat Apple in terms of sale, then it would be another headlines. Maybe.

So Android phones are only for poor people who can't afford an iPhone? Interesting.

It's pretty interesting how it can use magnetic swiping. That's a clear advantage over Apple Pay.

I'd rather buy an iPhone 4 than buy a Samsung or Windows phone. And you can get those practically for free by now.
