no removable storage, no removable battery. Better not do **** to the Note 5 Samsung.

I'm sure I saw a rant from Linus recently in which he said that only a maximum of 4 cores was of any use.
Still no 64bit? What a shame.... ;)

64-bit architecture was mentioned in the video. World's first 14nm multi-core processor. But the weak link is the software. I would guess much of it is running in emulation.

It's coming out 6 months after the A8, and relies on brute force since it is using a stock ARM design. My guess is that Apple's A9 will be fabbed on the same 14nm FinFET process and reclaim the lead.

Samsung is saying only that it is 20% faster than the chip in the S5. That pegs it slightly faster than the A8.

No Samsung is saying it's 20% faster then the exynos 7 8 core 20nm note 4.it literally blows the doors off of the old gs5 using snapdragon s801 like 900 single core vs 1500 single core geek bench runs.

The gs6 is almost 100% faster then the gs5

I responded to someone on a certain social media network that said she hated her new work iPhone, and was a Samsung girl. The brain just can't fathom that side of the fence.

Let's not forget that half the storage will be taken up by touchwiz.

Apple's SoC hasn't been whooped in a long time. They trade blows every gen sure. Apple's SoC is more advance than what Samsung, Qualcomm, and Nvidia is producing. What the benchmarks don't show you is that their chips thermal throttle.

The A8 can sustain its performance over long periods. It's a beast.

you do know the gs6 is using 14nm right

Even the default wallpaper in the video is reminiscent of the leaf wallpaper from the iPhone introduction!

The iPhone 4/4S had glass blacks

I know. I just find it odd that someone would think that Samsung was copying a discontinued iPhone that is 4 generations old. If anything, the iPhone 6 looks more like a Galaxy S4/S5.

Tough to think that different people like different things? And that everyone in the world doesn't prefer an iPhone?

Well I have to admit, the S6 Edge is kinda sexy..

But I honestly don't get the point of the curved screen. Seems like it would cause accidental touches when holding it to me. I would feel the same way if Apple had done that.

So compared to the 1632 I just rendered on my iPhone 6, the single core score isn't that impressive. So, just as I said, it's relying on brute force (quad-core). Mobile apps aren't that great at using multiple cores yet, and with less overhead from the streamlined touchwiz, it's not clear how well it will actually benefit from the 3rd and 4th cores. It's got lots of pixels to push, and they didn't mention GPU specs.

Let's wait for AnandTech to run its full suite of tests before we declare Samsung the greatest SOC designer in the world. Remember, it's using a stock ARM design, just like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Supposedly the 810 has heating issues, so if Samsung cracked that with the 14nm process, more power to them, but it seems that Apple still has some tricks up its sleeve.

It's great to see some of the new features (battery charging, wireless, etc)....but I don't understand what is the point of the edge? They're the same device (the battery difference is negligible) but....there's a curve?

Why?

Because one of the most popular phone cases for larger phones has a cover that folds over like book.

The edge allows you to see notifications without having to open the phone cover. It's very useful in meetings, and performs the same notification functions as what the Apple Watch is proposing (and pebble for that matter).

The edge can also have UI elements build into it to make it more one-hand friendly. Something that is useful when the phone is so large.

It's a variation on the device aimed at business users.

And it may too. We'll have to see what the reviews say.

Samsung's fab is more advanced, but the architecture is stock ARM. big.LITTLE has significant limitations, which is why Apple hasn't followed it. You can make an 8086 processor on a 14nm fab. I'd still take an Ivy Bridge Core i5 over that.

I find it strangely ironic when Samsung comes out with a new copy I mean phone, every single articles and news out there only praise and gives glowing positive tones... "Samsung Relentless Innovations..." etc. etc.

The question is, does Samsung deserve this?

Meanwhile, Apple has never gotten a good positive glowing news when they announce new product (only after), instead Apple always got negative ones (just look at Apple watch, its 85% negative responses).

The question is, does Apple deserve this?

How many negative media reviews do you see of actual Apple products?

Not to mention that the iPhone 6 looks more like the Galaxy than the Galaxy looked like the iPhone 5.

Real photos of the device.

It's still not a custom chip. So Samsung needs 8 cores on 14nm process to compete with the A8, a dual core 20nm chip?

Watch out for the A9 when it's on 14nm. Apple is outpacing the competition in SoC design.

So What?

Sure, "Samsung Pay" is a swipe at Apple. Sure the phone is made of higher end materials. So what? It's Samsung. It runs on fragmented bloatware. It will be as secure as being certain the hair of the person who made your Big Mac not being in your first bite. Android is about buying a $19 Samsung Pay phone at Big Lots.

Period. :apple:
