Whilst the name is the same, Samsung Pay formely loop pay will be accepted at nearly all the terminals regardless of NFC capability

The fact they can do Tokenised secure transaction using magnetic field instead of NFC which tricks magnetic swipe readers in believing a card was present is a far better solution right now.

So in this case whilst apple pay will make millions for apple, on this instance it looks like Appled rushed out the gate first whilst Samsung through the buy out of Looppay have provided a far better solution for the short term

Samsung pay appears to be a 3 step process.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnYtWWDor2s

1. Swipe to launch the app.
2. Authenticate with finger at bottom of screen. (Not home button)
3. Move phone near card terminal to use LoopPay magnetic transmission.

Swiping an EMV credit card is faster and more secure.
Plus, not sure how reliable bottom of screen is for fingerprint sensor.

Time will tell.

Brilliant. Samsung just took away the the two most bragged about features I regularly get abused for not having.

Removable storage and battery.

Bravo Samsung.

Replaced them with 32gb storage from the start, wireless charging and super fast charging.

Patent wars are only just beginning...

So many changes. So many copies. See ya in court Samsung!

The may be enforceable is the fingerprint reader. I thought Apple had it locked down on the no-slide fingerprint reader on a phone.

Nope different devices already had no sliding fingerprint readers like the Moto Atrix.

Huawei have a static fingerprint reader on the huawei mate 7which is the most accurate and fastest fp reader out there, FIngerprint readers have been static for years ask anyone whos been arrested lol

Well I have to admit, the S6 Edge is kinda sexy..

It's interesting they've launched Samsung Pay, instead of relying on Google Wallet.

Also, after accusing Apple of copying their big screens, they've got a nerve launching Samsung Pay, a finger print scanner that's even more like Touch ID than before, and an all-metal design, while ditching features most associate with Samsung like a removable battery and expandable memory.

I guess the Edge screen and wireless charging are pretty unique, though. I was speaking to someone who said, when Apple wanted to replace the 30-pin connector, why didn't they leapfrog what everyone else was doing and go with wireless charging?

Magnetic secure technology, MST, is this a standard, or the new name for Loop Pay?

Does involve a non credit card number based tokenized transaction?

It would be interesting to see a matrix comparing these technologies.

For the 9000th time, what is the point of a curved display??

Just different people like different things, and its just the start samsung has been developing flexible displays for years, start off small then bam a foldable phone/tablet hybrid.

But android os has a lot of side swipes and as MKBHD stated its a joy to use the curved display and fites well with lollipop

I like the edge idea, but IMO the HTC M9 is far better as it has stuck to the Snap Dragon SOC and also has kept a 1080P screen to help battery life, will be interesting to see how these new S6 phones with smaller non removable batteries and much higher resolution screens cope with daily use, will they last a full day?

And I hate to say it, but yeap, I will say it, their is a tiny hint of the iPhone 6 in the S6 design...

runs and gets flaim coat on..

Geez..

Wow, fanboy galore today. Don't get me wrong I have the iPhone 6 plus. It's full of bugs in IOS 8 though. All companies can take a bashing.. I give samsung props for introducing a 16 megapixel camera and competing with Apple.

*2 weeks later* Samsung Pay hacked and all credit card information form thousands of users stolen and published online

I don't understand this. All of the things that Samsung has mocked for years, now they just copy it? This isn't even close to something close to original. Samsung Pay? No Micro-SD? Wall hugger scheme? Complete backs asking and blatant copying of the iPhone 6

What did they copie then? Themselves?

Non removable battery, no MicroSD-slot, metal sides with antenna breaks and glass back, rounded sides with familiar bottom layout.. The all new Samsung 6 and 6 Plus, err, Edge.

Yeah, look up samsung ATIV, the iphone 6 looks more like a samsung phone for some parts thenr reverse.

And why does this matter anyway?

Unfortunatly in western europe the magnetic strip is deemed to insecure and barely used anymore

Is this SamsungRumors now?

Past that I think the new phone is not all that bad. It's still crippled with Android. I would have went a non Apple phone, but Android, I just can't stand it. And that's a shame, relatively good hardware with a terrible OS.

Wait... What?

Another Galaxy S4??

Also infininite lolz at ''Samsung Pay''.

Try again sammy:p
