The only reason I have an smart phone like the iPhone is because of the GPS, the rest of the applications are... what ever.

You are not alone.

I almost bought an iPod touch and then found out it has no GPS. No GPS NO SALE!

They're thinner and lighter than the iPads. And they actually look good.

Only problem: Android.

They look good? I guess if you like dimpled plastic and faux chrome...

Here's what the Verge said: "They are well made and don’t feel like they’re going to fall apart in your hands, but they don’t feel nearly as premium as the iPads they are trying to take down."

They Can announce all stuff they want too, But .........

There products all have the worst support and lame eco system to support them , Oh boy I can stream netflicks etc. big deal . oh I check my mail and play video game at the same time . Great if have you ADD , just saying .

Well THAT explains the recent price drop of their Tab Pro models. I love their display panels, simply awesome. I'll return my Target mini and pickup the 8.4" model. :)

If you're going to run a story about a competing product on MacRumors, at least give it some relevance. Otherwise it's just a promo for a non-Apple product.

That is, tell us why and how this is significant to Apple. How is the product better than Apple's etc.

What does it mean to Apple.

Apparently they're slightly thinner and lighter than the iPads so I guess that's a big deal to tech sites.

Is it a swiping fingerprint scanner like the galaxy phone or just do it with an unmoving scan like apple?

unmoving.. Umm... capacitive is the word Apple uses. And it looks to be the exact same one as on the S5 so if its anything like the S5 a lot of people will turn it off or just not use it because it takes some effort to use.

Fingerprint Scanner Security

I remember hearing all kinds of security questions raised when Apple introduced TouchID, such as "Where is my fingerprint stored?", "Can others access it?", "How is it stored?", and the list goes on. Apple has given extensive information regarding how TouchID works and stores fingerprints. Does Samsung give this information away too or do people using these tablets just not care? Are Apple users the only ones who care about their fingerprints being stored on a device?

To me the iPad looks outdated next to it.

Haha, after several recent new phone and tablet introductions it seems like the times when a newly introduced golden (or golden trimmed) device was declared as "tacky" are finally over...

They're thinner and lighter than the iPads, have longer battery life (11+h); and they actually look good.

Only problem: Android.

Android is way better than it used to be and in many ways IOS has some catching up to do.... Even the difference in quality Apps is getting smaller.

Taken in account that it usually takes years for Apple to give us features we want, I'll say watch out Apple.

Still love my iPad Air but also the Nexus 7.

Where have I heard that before?

Please don't tell me that you believe Samsung implemented this just one week after Apple announced it? They obviously must have been working on it for months. It's actually possible that Apple heard of this feature and decided to implement their own so they can compete on that feature.

So I guess thinner and lighter is innovation when someone other than Apple is announcing it.

Samsung and Google threads are always the most entertaining, the bumhurt is the worst in them

*grabs popcorn for the tantrums*

I bet Apple will copy Samsung and make a gold tablet and probably even put a fingerprint sensor on it. Apple....always copying Samsung!

Or vice versa could be true.

I really wish everyone would stop with the 'best yet' garbage. Do we really expect them to come on stage and say "our last product was much cooler, but this one isn't too shabby!"?

All companies, including apple release products that are a step or two behind their flagship, such as 5c which is a step down from 5, and the original iPad mini with its 2010 processor.

So this one is not too shabby presentations do happen
