If you read some of the responses, many are claiming the opposite. Samsung is copying Apple because of a rumored product release. Some people just like to worry about who copied whom and not a it whether a product is actually any good or not, I guess.
It's stupid. Nobody is copying anybody in this doesn't deserve a front page story.

I remember a Samsung smart watch thread a short time before Apple rolled out the Apple Watch. The Samsung story touted 24-hour battery life and- just like this thread- that one issue (insufficient battery life) got pounded and pounded as ridiculous, "deal killer," "epic fail" and so on.

Then Apple rolled out the Apple Watch with "whole day" battery life which turned out to be up to about 18 hours. And that was "perfect", "gets me through an entire day", "just charge it overnight" and "who needs more than that?"

Deja Vu

Couldn't have said it any better.

Yup...

Wonder how many charge cycles one will get yielding 1 1/2 hours of use (under ideal conditions) before battery capacity significantly declines.

With just a 1 1/2 hour of use per charge I can see a lot of charge cycles used up in much less than a year.

And yet those with expendable cash will buy a set or two, not blink an eye with the battery life. If Samsung is delivering innovation, with the exception of battery life, Consumers will purchase it.

The thing about Bluetooth earbuds, and I've tried a lot of them, is that reviewers never mention what happens when you wear them during a workout. I went through a period a few years ago where I tried just about everything, and everyone but the Motorolas did one thing: they'd work for a week or two, but they'd get fried after the sweat accumulated and damaged the drivers.
What do you mean with 'drivers'? The part generating the actual sound? All earbuds have them, so I don't know what would be specific to Bluetooth earbuds with that.

I guess it makes sense why your not an editor when deciding what "Makes a front page story" then. What were you expecting? Another billionaire shareholder dumps his shares with Apple article?

I've had a pair of Jabra Rox wireless and use them all the time when running and they work like the first day. Well maybe (possibly, almost certainly) the battery doesn't last as long, and you need to replace the foam tips every couple of months, but they are perfectly fine otherwise.
Jabra Rox looks like a great product (their sport version with pulse measuring even more). I currently use the Phiaton BT 200 NC. Sound quality is ok though with frequent mini cutouts (fraction of a second, every 10 minutes or so). Battery life is about three days for (officially 17 h which sounds about right). Their clip-on box can be pain to put onto something thicker and the control buttons are fiddly. How stable was the Bluetooth connection on your Jabra Rox?

Look crap, overpriced, will sound rubbish like any Apple wireless 'Beats' will do.

I remember watching the Bragi video when they launched it and was astonished they didn't even talk about the sound quality. I mean, you buy them for the sound, right?

When I saw these I instantly remembered that dumb video and thought, "Oh, cool. New wireless earbuds. They'll also probably talk about the sound quality. It would be insane if they didn't." And guess what.... not a freaking word about how they actually sound!!! o_O

"Gizmodo thought the controls could be a "little unreliable" but thought the audio quality was impressive,..."

1.5 hours? haha what a joke. Ill stick with the new jaybird freedoms i just got. Best sounding earbuds I've ever had (better than x2's). 4 hour batter life without battery pack 8 with. 2 hour workouts usually everytime i go these would just frustrate me.
Samsung- you don't need pointless fitness tracking heartbeat readings. compromises on battery life something people want more in bt earbuds.

And yet those with expendable cash will buy a set or two, not blink an eye with the battery life. If Samsung is delivering innovation, with the exception of battery life, Consumers will purchase it.

Innovation? Are you kidding? And no, consumers will demand a decent user experience and a 1 1/2 hour battery life won't cut it.

Sadly I can't do in-ear buds, to be fair tho, I'd probably lose these in about an hour.

They'd drift off into that dimension where my Cintiq stylus disappears off to.

Innovation? Are you kidding? And no, consumers will demand a decent user experience and a 1 1/2 hour battery life won't cut it.

Nope. Not kidding. Why would a consumer demand a decent user experience? Umm, we live in a world where we exercise discretion and caution? Do we not? Perhaps if you take a consumer who has the monetary means of spending the money on a product, just because it's the latest and greatest, when innovation does not apply to everyone who DEMANDS a user experience.

There are those who have the expendable cash flow to purchase items such as these or high end sports cars for example, regardless of the price tag. I don't care if these ear buds offer ten minutes of sound, they will sell because their are those who will buy them without reading the product details!

Look at the Apple Watch Edition price tag. $10,000 for a base model 18 karat Gold WAtch with a White sports band, hinted with a gold pin, yet boasts the exact same internals as the 38 MM $300.00 Sports Watch, only to acquire strictly with the asthetic appeal, with the exception of a saphirre screen. And the Gold model was sold out on preorder day one on April 10, 2015. Did the masses demand a user experience for this price tag as well? No. Because if their are those with the cash settlement, as long as there is "Hype" or "Must have", it will sell. You can put an Apple logo on a stapler and it will sell, because we are not always fixated on what will "Cut it."

Last I checked, Apple offers 18 hour battery life on the Apple Watch, which they consider "All day Battery life." For some, this does not cut it in terms of what's considered all day battery life, yet, it sells, as compared to Pebble's Time Round which offers seven day battery life.

Everyone has different expectations of what meets their "Demands" or what will "Cut it." Perhaps you speak yourself, but not everyone. I for one look for quality and craftsmanship, I can look past the battery life and sacrifice for other features. Not everybody is in the masses. So you theoretically and hypothetically cannot speak for everybody. Unless you have a source that says otherwise?

so now apple come out with their own for the iPhone 7 series.....

how the tables have turned on innovation, apple is the one playing catch up now.

You are aware, though, that Samsung is playing catch up with Bragi, yes?

They have the exact same functions (with 3hrs battery life, though) - started shipping in January and as far as I remember introduced the concept way more than a year ago...

funny.... I remember everyone was up in arm when Samsung Gear watch has 2 days battery life. Calling it complete failure.

However when Apple watch has only 1 day battery life... All the sudden it's "oh, i charge my phone daily, so it doesn't bother me".

... People will always justify things because they like a company.
Excuse me, but did you hear me praising Apple for the Apple Watch battery life? I hope not.

I think this design has potential. The 'devil is in the details' though. For running I prefer to carry as little as possible. Having something like this loaded with music would eliminate weight and bulk - all good. If they are controllable by bluetooth - in particular controllable by my felix 3, all the better (although not really necessary as I don't switch music on the move).

The question is whether or not they can be counted on to stay in while running.

Then again, there might be even already better bluetooth earbuds on the market to accomplish the above. I don't really keep up with earbud advances.

Samsung didn't not think of this idea. They saw some startups making them and quickly came out with their own version to be at the head of the curve.

Just that they (Samsung) aren't. Bragi - the startup - has shipped theirs since January

I'm sure they see their main competition as Apple. They get it out 1st, that's the important part.
