Junk. I wish it weren't so, as I am not die-hard brand loyal. However, 90 minutes doesn't even get me to lunch in a normal work day. Barely gets me to first break. Also, there is no mention about noise reduction levels.

I have a set of Kanoa's offering on order. They have seen positive reviews from sites, but at the end of April they delayed shipment to June/July. Not the biggest delay in history, but it is a bit concerning. They originally said 4 hours of battery life and another 5 charges in the case, but they haven't said anything lately about it, even when asked.

I remember Apple filing a patent for earbuds/earphones with embedded sensors. I think the concept is dumb. The point of earphones is to listen to sound. I don't think it makes any sense to compromise on the main point of earphones to throw in some sensors.

Everybody seems focused on the headphones but no thought on gear fit 2? 3 to 4 days battery life and built in gps

Self-contained earbuds with chips and storage onboard? What could possibly go wrong? ;)

Well the writer of the article did say:

Which is MORE then enough to get the people round here slamming Samsung for 'un-originality' and 'Samesung are copycat' comments....
Seems it got more people unnecessarily on the defensive. It's an Apple site, it's relevant. If people get hacky with the copycat stuff it shouldn't compel you to argue with them. It's like convincing a Trump supporter to vote Bernie.

Awful battery life, ridiculous price point.

Earbuds already pop out too easily, let alone without no wire to catch them. I prefer those wireless beats ones with the wire behind your neck connecting them.

Samsung innovation provokes emotional reactions from Apple Devotees, yet Apple relies on Samsung components to create iPhone... Fascinating.

But this isn't Samsung innovation. Other companies showed these products months ago. Samsung took the idea and made their own.

There's a difference between Samsung Electronics and Samsung Devices. The devices department (mobile, etc.) are thieves of others' ideas.

I really really like the idea of truly wireless headphones. Once battery life is over 5 hours I will be a buyer. I need them to last me at least a 5 hour flight or an afternoon at the office. 1.5 hours is barely enough for a workout.

Why do you need 4GB in earphones?! I mean seriously, Is this brand just trying to make whatever they think of and then wait if it works, wasting people's money? Most of the people that are into fitness exercise for at least an hour - two hours plus commute, and they probably own a smart watch that can already track they movements, so why would anybody in their right mind get these...?

I'm not liking the headphones but the reason for the 4GB is battery. From the article:

"The battery inside the IconX lasts for one and a half hours when streaming music or for three and a half hours when playing music stored on the earbuds themselves."

So, if you load music directly on them you get over double the battery life. For something that is intended for fitness this makes sense... sync over a workout playlist and then you don't need to take your phone with your on the run and it gives you better battery life.

Apple stopped caring about battery life and using it as a selling point when they started worshiping "thinness", and they outright gave it the middle finger with the Watch.
As for taking their time to ensure quality, they abandoned that priority in favor of annual releases.

No. When making earphones, "thinness" goes out of the window. And the Apple Watch, are you serious? I'm sitting at 84% and I've used my watch multiple times today. The battery in this, for a first-gen, is brilliant.

$200 for 1.5 hours? Sorry.

These cost less and should get 4-6 hours. I am still waiting to get mine through.... https://www.getkanoa.com

For some reason people freak out about having to charge things once a day...

I have a (mono price) $40 collar style BT set that works fine for me and lasts 10 hrs. Although the last hours of the battery life is worthless for music due to audio alerts of low battery level.

so now apple come out with their own for the iPhone 7 series.....

how the tables have turned on innovation, apple is the one playing catch up now.

That's certainly one way to look at it. Personally I prefer the being first isn't important, being the best is, kind of outlook.

Whoever is best when it comes to crappy wireless buds with short battery life and average at best sound quality, only time will tell.

The thing about Kanoa is they are a shady company. I preordered mine for $139 back in January. It was a tough decision on to keep my full price bragi preorder or buy the Kanoa from a company that frequently appears on scam alert websites and deletes the "bad" Facebook comments.

From the little information they HAVE shared with us, they are still pretty far out from mass production. It seems like just last week they found a factory to build the earbuds and revised their final design.

Bottom line, I bought the Kanoa for the price. I'm crossing my fingers they are half the quality they say.

I remember a Samsung smart watch thread a short time before Apple rolled out the Apple Watch. The Samsung story touted 24-hour battery life and- just like this thread- that one issue (insufficient battery life) got pounded and pounded as ridiculous, "deal killer," "epic fail" and so on.

Then Apple rolled out the Apple Watch with "whole day" battery life which turned out to be up to about 18 hours. And that was "perfect", "gets me through an entire day", "just charge it overnight" and "who needs more than that?"

Deja Vu
If that smartwatch they were talking about (their 7th watch by the way, they have been making them for years, not just the Apple Watch was rumoured) , was the gear 2 which I have recently bought, the 24 hr battery life I can confirm is bobbins.
It's more like about 60!!!!! It just doesn't use power when the screen is off, it's absolutely immense. It makes the 18hrs at best for the AW look quite frankly pathetic. Less than a day out of any wearable is shameful..

[doublepost=1464970458][/doublepost]
Because Apple promises 18 hours, and delivers 18 hours. Most people, at the end of the day, have 50% or more in battery life left.

Samsung promisses 1 day, it dies in 4 or 6 hours...

One "little" difference.

See my previous post about battery life, your hatred for Samsung makes you look foolish, if you are gonna Slag them off just to get up votes, at least put some facts behind it.

And we thought iPhone/Apple Watch battery life was bad...

Only people who don't own a watch think it's bad. Pretty happy that I get over a full day use of my watch and wireless beats2 go about 7-8 hours. I can't imagine a limitation of 90 minutes on wireless headphones but, my uses are different. If I was a runner it could work depending on how well they would stay in.

I have the gear s2 and got 2 days easily

The tables are exactly where they've been for 10 years now. An Apple rumor flies. Samsung catches wind of it and releases a buggy, power hog of an unfinished product before Apple. Meanwhile Apple sits back and watches the market react so they can fix all the problems that Samsung and others introduced into the product. Apple enters the market toward the end of the growth cycle and cleans house. You may think that this isn't innovation but I don't care what it's called. I just want wireless earbuds that don't suck and we all know that these suck and that Apple's won't suck and maybe even be great. If you really care who gets to market first, there's a Wiki page for that.

Wow, 90 minutes of battery life. I know this is going to sound arrogant but you just know that when Apple release their "AirPods" next year with the iPhone 7, they'll have better battery life.

It's not always best to be the first to bring a new product to the market, Apple will take their time and as a result, they'll be better, period.

If they do it will be very doubtful. Whatever is coming is already well into the testing stage with Gen 2 underway.
