Uh, well. Any ppi bigger than what the eye can resolve is only a spec sheet item, there is no benefit. Especially not since it is still a PenTile AMOLED display with a fake pixel count, slightly impacted font smoothing capabilities and fake colors... It is big, yeah. But that's about it.

I hope that Apple, IF they should offer a bigger phone at some point, will do it properly (IPS or IGZO, no PenTile fraud, powerful and even backlight). Otherwise I prefer smaller.

How is the pixel count fake?

Apple has a golden opportunity here to mock Samsung's ridiculous chaotic mess of a presentation with their own subdued simple style. They should make an ad to take advantage of it.

So we know what it looks like, and we know some software features. No mention of Android. No mention of NFC. No mention of wireless charging. We don't know the processor. We don't know the price. Do we know the release date? What else?

Is it just me, or did MacRumors TRY to get a bad photo of these? I know they're kinda ugly, but this photo is really bad and somewhat blurry.

Would love to see some ads making fun of that train-wreck of a presentation, what the he$# was that? Embarrassing:(

Too big, ugly design and a lot of unnecessary features as always.. you can still see the lag in the videos..

I found the upgrade from iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 to be excellent.

Same. I didn't think it would be until I tried the iPhone 5. Although I don't have one, I've tried it. The difference between the 5 and my 4 is very noticeable.

WTF is the point of putting 1080p on a phone? that just kills the battery faster take performance away compared to if it was at 720p. The battery can be so much better if they stick with 720p. A lot of the features are gimmicky and I see no reason for someone that has a S3 to want a S4. Hell some of those features will even get ported to the S3 by some modder.

The Galaxy S4... Now even bigger and with pre-loaded apps! oh and you can wave at it.

Now waiting for the incremental iPhone 5S in 6 months, still featuring a dual core CPU when the rest of the world has movied on to quad core.

And the last time anyone complained a new iPhone wasn't fast enough to run apps? Oh right, never.

baboon

I can't wait to go to my local VZ store and wave my arm around like a baboon with tourrettes. Sure, Samsung had all the hype for this launch but these "innovations" are becoming ridiculous. That ***** is more difficult than to just swipe your thumb across the screen.

:apple:

Android 4.2.2. NFC was shown/mentioned several times. Wireless charging with Qi and a charge pad was shown at the event. Cpu is exynos 5 octa or snapdragon s4 in some regions. Release is april/may. Price wasn't exactly mentioned other than "premium".

Not trying to sound critical but how much better can a display get when once it leaves the ability to be seen by the human retina? Serious question. To me anything over 400+ seems pretty pointless.

That's why they keep making phones larger and larger so that a higher mAh battery can be cramped into the phone. All those screen size debates are all about this.

You haven't been a member of these forums long, have you? Specs don't matter. Performance does.

But...quad core is two more cores, so it's better. Right?

I think the phone looks amazing. The specs & features are the best available in the current smartphone market.

Apple will certainly need to step up their game, because this single release is just 1 of many to come. Can't wait to see what the Note III will bring along with future Nexus devices.

I sure hope Samsung 'wins', so the 75% of the macrumors posters who are Samsung fans leave, and this community can be what it was meant to be.

you mean like the old apple circle jerks? there are old members here that are just interested in all types of gadgets and technology. considering that samsung is now the main competition, why is it not allowed to talk about it here? are you losing money or sleep because of it?

Apple built a new market with iPhone 1 and its been spec bumps and competitor copy cats since then.

What wow do people really want from these things? There hasn't been a true wow since the iPhone 1.

I would like a voip phone with true unlimited Data and a low monthly bill.

Or just the ones we have but with a drop in monthly price after we pay off the 2 year subsidy contract. I understand that I am paying off the true price of the phone over 2 years. The phone companies are screwing you royally after that.

And better battery life. I want at LEAST 2 days without charging like my old RAZR Flip -Phone from the 90s

These are the kinds of features I care about.

The hardware is good enough. Not much else to do with the OS's either
