Apple should try to exit the smart phone business and save some face while they still have some pride.

No way can they withstand the assault that Samsung is going to provide with their ever more impressive innovations.

The iPhone survived so long thanks to gimmicks, but its not getting it done anymore. Apple will be smart to enter some other market segment like smart watches.

Troll much? U mad bro? ;)

I don't even use Siri anymore -- it was just a gimmick.

For example, when creating reminders, lists or certain alarms (such as remind me everyday to...) -- something that I thought Apple would have anticipated from the get-go -- it just can't set certain things right at all.

...then i guess one man's gimmick is another man's feature -- i use all of what you said via siri. create reminders frequently, create alarms to wake me up, and create reoccurring reminders to do things every week.

no joke -- one just went off. i have to go do something.

• Merge REMINDERS with Calendar -- 'nuff said. Why not?

god i hope not. appointments are different things than reminders, so they work differently. i like that.

I was a big Apple fanboy from 2008-2012. 2013 I found myself building a high end PC because apple refuses to update the mac pro. Luckily for Apple I am considering this for home theater and gaming for now. But that might change. Once I start using it for studio audio and video then it's goodbye apple.

Also, still using the 4S. I will not buy another iphone unless the screen is wider. This galaxy phone is an option for me. I'm ready to leave the "ecosystem".

Don't be silly. "Lucky for Apple"? Apple could not care less about your purchase, or, lack thereof, of a lone Mac. Its fortunes will neither improve or dissipate on your decision. In fact Apple care so little about Pro that it decided to let a true update linger on.

And, if you go Galaxy, you will not be leaving "the" ecosystem, you will be leaving the iOS ecosystem for the Android/Samsung one.

thanks for sharing, mate. you may wish to cc: Tim Cook on this serious news.

yeah that whole ipad thing, completely boring. sorry but the ipad changed the industry. and we're really digging the perfect size & weight of the ipad mini.

and have you used a rMBP? there is no finer laptop. it's a thing of wonder. but totally boring, right.

yet analysts, often cited for Samsung since Samsung NEVER releases actual sales numbers, peg it at a very high number....making them the leader. if you trust analyst numbers for them, you gotta trust it for apple. read it and weep:

http://bgr.com/2013/02/20/iphone-5-sales-q4-2012-332052/

Yeah.

Samsung has sold more than 40 million Galaxy S III handsets worldwide, the South Korean firm has said.

Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for anyone to give me a number for how many iPhone 5 Apple has sold more recent than the three days post release number...

Then how would you characterize Steve Jobs performances? Kindergarten play? He started this cheesy trend. Samsung has just perfected it. In fact they made it a little entertaining (for non geeks).

Have you ever even seen an Apple Keynote? No actors, No Broadway production....Just the real people who build and use the products. Nothing like what Samsung did last night.

Please list what is wrong with the current iPhones.

Small screen, cheap scratchy and flimsy aluminum build, grossly outdated OS with few modern features. No memory slot. Memory upgrade prices that might have made sense in 2009 but don't seem to realize flash prices have fallen about 85% since then. Stuff takes more space and memory is cheaper. It's cycle of computer life, but Apple seems lost on the cheaper half while stuff like retina makes the more space part grow even faster. The whole Apple control freak issue, you can't even choose what version of the OS to install, you can't hide icons Apple doesn't want you to, you can can only install software with Apple's permission. Can you find any other "high end" current model smartphone that isn't 720p? The iphone5 is only 640 pixels wide. The GS4 is 1080.

Not a very complete list of what's wrong with the current iPhone, but it's a start.

The S4 has the highest res screen? Really guy? What about the HTC One?
The S4 has the highest ram also? Really guy? What about the HTC One?
Your Damsung colors are showing.

THe S4 matches or bests in every category, so your post is misleading. The pixel resolution of both phones is the same, and the tiny difference in spacial resolution (due to the S4 having a larger screen) is not distinguishable by the naked eye.

Also they have the same ram, and likely the S4's will be faster.

The HTC One is a nice phone, and a nice design, but the S4 bests it on spec.

When will us apple fan boys learn to take defeat graciously, yes it's plastic and its evolution rather than revelation but look at its hardware and features it puts the s4 in a different catogory compares to the iphone 5 ( which I recently purchased) it can do so much the iPhone can't yes there may be some apps to do a few things the s4 can but why should we have to install apps to get the out of the box expernience the s4 offers?, I look foreword to the iPhone 5s coming out and Tim cook saying how better it is than the s4 when in fact it will be far inferior. Everytime I use my iPhone now it just feels like a row of apps with a camera and Siri with the addition of iCloud ( which I hate).

LOL. Apple gets the Foo Fighters....THE FOO FIGHTERS. And Samsung has this sad spectacle? Clearly one is better than the other.

True enough, but he could have been descibing me and countless other former fans. Apple is tell a lot of their best customers where to go and by the time it bites them in their sales ass, it will be too late and apple will be a pathetic has-been.

I like android, I just have a problem with phones that use plastics then give them a brushed metal look... Especially if you are going to charge me a higher price. Normally, and this is still true, Apple is the over priced one, but with a two year contract you can get Samsung Galaxy III for $200 or you can get something that is higher in quality (real metal and glass), for with the same amount of storage and price and I'm talking about the iPhone 5 16GB modle.

Although, it's nice it has higher specs compared to the iPhone. That is my only complaint.

Which Apps do you say are better on iOS? Go ahead, name a few major non-obscure apps that don't exist on Android? That you actually want to use. You may have had a point when the iPhone 4 / GS came out in 2010, but that was 3 years ago, and you need to open your eyes and look around.
Even a simple app like Netflix is better on iOS, it's faster and smoother when navigating through menus.
Another non-obscure app you might have heard of is Infinity blade or Score Classic Goals, and thousands of other great games that will never see the light of day on Android.

My post isn't misleading at all. Go back and re-read what was posted about the S4's industry leading specs. How can it be industry leading in these areas if it's just matching another phone?

Do you really believe what you just wrote?

Although this is an Apple forum people can still have positive opinions about a non apple product.

I absolutely believe what he just wrote - many of the commenters on here appear to be trolls working for hire. It does happen.

welcome to the forum: hardware specs mean bo didley. apple doesnt play that game and never really has. they focus on user experience, not specs.

apple also does not throw in the kitchen sink of experimental features -- thats what apps are for. not everyone -- hell, probably the majority -- of iphone users want or will use all that photo kitch crap, like animated background photos...seriously. thats a niche feature.

a row of apps, w/ a camera, siri, and the cloud. yes. that is my phone. it's a simple framework of tools that allows me to select the functionality i use and do so in an online world. i like that.

Derp, because it matches and bests. Remember grade 7?

Uh huh, so did you know the GS4 (and the HTC, Sony and LG flagships for the poster above) have 2.85x the display resolution of a iPhone 5.

Good thing Apple doesn't boast about their displays. :)

----------

Totally separate idea, any speculation if these flagships will be turning into Windows RT tablets in the coming year?

Someone posted this "S4 vs iPhone 5" video:

Waving GeekBench scores around "mine's bigger than yours" aside the iPhone 5 just looks embarrassed being next to that Galaxy piece of junk.

The S4 looks like one of those body builders on steroids with the fake orange tan!

And those covers? WTF? Are they made out of paper?
JUNK!
