I can imagine you're amazed by it.

Ah well, I just don't understand the concept of 'hating' a brand. In my point of view it's waste of precious time. Just think about it, would it truly matter when I would write: I hate samsung, android is evil and bad!?

Same here, competition is good. I just hope to see Apple is more operating in a positive way by bringing jaw dropping products instead of becoming grumpy and come up with personal attacks towards the opponent. Don't bark at the competition but rather amaze the competition, that's the best way to leave your opponent behind i.m.h.o.
We are _exactly_ on the same page with our line of thinking.

I'd like nothing better than to see Apple return to the highly focused, determined, innovative tech company they once were.

Instead of worrying, fretting, or whatever they are doing behind the scenes... which results in sending a mixed message via their litigious ways.

I'd like Apple to get to work on beating the competition with world class products, impressively designed, excellent quality control, and clever marketing sans the over the top claims.

Now I am confused about what's the difference and target market of S4 and Note II?

Are they supposed to eat each other's pie?

If Note III released later.. How far can the screen made larger? Seriously.

Rumor is Note III will be 6.3 inch. 0.8 inch increment diagonally is easily possible without increasing overall size.

Note II scored a major win with American Airlines for flight attendants. Probably being a Phablet gave an edge over iPad.

That is a kick-a$$ phone. I wonder how Apple will respond. 5 inches..... mayyybe too big (and I got big hands... ladies). But something like 4.7 inches with a wider screen not just taller like the iphone 5 upgrade.

The Note series is targeted at people who need a larger screen for reading, Web browsing, and as the name suggests, taking notes. The digitizer on the Note enables very fine handwritten notes, which is not possible on any other phone or tablet.

Apple fans in general tend to call all features missing in Apple products "useless". Be it RGB LED indicator, NFC, wireless charging, Full HD screen resolution, WiFi direct or anything else. They "discover" these features only when Apple adds them to their devices (remember useless panorama shots?)

Who is this "Apple fans" person you are talking about? Is he/she a forum member here?

IP5 display area is approximately 64.41% of actual size. Hope they can use some of the remaining 35% for display in next version without increasing phone size. Having said that Apple's buddy Sharp should be able supply.

IP5 Phone size: 123.8 mm x 58.6 mm = 7254.68 mm
IP5 Screen size: 90.39 mm x 51.7 mm = 4673.163 mm

And for pete sake now S4 also sports a 5" screen. I mean really. Galaxy S and Note is getting indistinguishable.

Both are big, very close screen diagonal. And if one doesn't want to use the S Pen, just don't use it.

To me it's almost feel Galaxy S is a pointless phone so people better wait a little longer and get the Note instead.

long gone are the discussions of old it seems where people would actually quantify why somethign wasn't of use to them. Now it's slinging mud and obscenities. The worst is the users who nickname these companies but have no basis to back up why they say things like "Crapple" and "Samesung". they just spout of these meaningless titles as if it gives some merrit to their statement. All it does is make you, look like an ignorant fanboy.

Discussions of old? There never were any. It doesn't seem that long ago that the Atari ST and Amiga owners were slinging mud at each other across a classroom.

At the end of the day technology is pricey and people will always feel the need to justify their expensive purchase by slamming the alternative, whether that is Atari vs Amiga, consoles vs PC, phone manufacturers, operating systems or more recently intra-Apple rivalries such as the Mini vs full sized iPad arguments.

You have to look towards people with large disposable incomes to eliminate that bias.

These discussions are like the Canon vs Nikon discussions in the photography forums (go Nikon!), and there are some vague analogies between the companies. Canon, for instance, has a very check-list, give-em the kitchen sink, approach, like Samsung, and they manufacture all kinds of stuff (I.e. not just cameras and lenses). Canon will almost alway have the higher MP (we'll see their response to the D800). They typically have all of the latest whiz-bang effects. Nikon, for me the Apple of the analogy, will eventually get the tech up to spec, and, when they put their minds to it, knock the implementation out of the ball park (they were the low-light photography kings for a long time, their lighting tech is out of this world).

But in the end, both cameras produce great images. And really, it's a personal choice and nothing else. Really. Smart phones, in the end, are personal choices too. I use and develop for both android and ios, and specifically use iPhone 5 and s3 each day. Both are pretty darn good. Personal preference is Apple, but I can definitely see the attraction of the Samsung device for people who like that ecosystem and that approach.

The spec list wars and ecosystem wars all come down to personal preference. And one person's gimmick is another's innovation. Same difference, really. How do you like to use your device? Good news! There are two fantastic companies with two different approaches to suit you. And more if you're in to windows phone, BB, etc.

Well... considering Android now officially out-beats the Iphone 5's "Retina" display at 441ppi vs 326ppi, I'm surprised Samsung hasn't got of this word "Retina" yet.. and be sued...

They'd be got at by just about everything else..... Since "Retina" is just a marketing term, that should make it easy to just "take and not ask"

I wouldn't be surprised if this DID come up eventually. maybe Samsung changes from Super AMOLED to "Retina" or something like that.

So, does this must now mean the Galaxy S4 is sharper than the iPhone 5 in every way.??

The digitizer on the Note enables very fine handwritten notes, which is not possible on any other phone or tablet.

I've been taking handwritten notes with a stylus on my PalmPilots for well over a decade, and on Palm Treo smartphones for several years before any Android devices were out.

I think he meant 4.0 which is 17 months old? There is no such thing as 4.2.2

4.0 is Ice Cream Sandwich.
4.1 and 4.2 are both Jelly Bean.

So, I guess you could make the argument that it's the same version as 4.1, but really not 4.0. And 4.1 was released mid-July 2012, which still makes it less than a year ago.

Umm.. yes, there is.
4.2.2 was released on Feb. 11

are you comparing the usability of the Palm Treo to the Note 2? Are we talking about the same palm treo?

This IMO seems almost exactly like an 'S' release for the iPhone yet this is proclaimed as innovated? If Apple would had done an upgrade that was almost exactly like this all I would read is "Where is the innovation Apple!?

If the update for the S3 to S4 is innovative then Apples releases are just as innovative.

In other news, so people can't call me a fanboy (because I am no where near, I just speak the truth), I do like the phone and they are tempting.

Wow, bashing the s4 for not looking different?

Evolution rather than revolution?

Wonder what those people would say about the iphone.

Well, the step-up from the GS3 to the GS4 is very similar to the step-up from the iPhone 4S to the iPhone 5: Slightly bigger screen + some smallish hardware changes.

Compared to my 4S yes it felt like a cheap plastic iPhone. As far as build quality my 4S > the iPhone 5.

I had a 4S and upgraded to the iPhone 5. Whilst I don't feel like the iPhone 5 is a cheap plastic phone I did prefer the weight and glass front/back of my iPhone 4S.

Having said that I would never go back to the 3.5" screen that the iPhone 4S has. The vertical increase in screen size on the iPhone 5 is just too good and I think had they simply taken the 4/4S body and increased its size to fit the iPhone 5's display then that phone would have gone from feeling perfect to feeling too heavy.

Maybe an iPhone 4S body with Aluminium sides as opposed to steel? Maybe that would be perfect. But just my opinion I know plenty of people that prefer the iPhone 5 design over the 4S and in some ways I do like its ultra black look (I have the Black one obviously).

Sorry but it doesn't take a genius to realize that :

Screen - 441 ppi is better than 326 ppi
Battery - 2600 mAh is better than 1440 mAh
Camera - 13MP rear, 2MP front is better than 8MP rear, 1.2MP front
Processor - 1.9 GHz Quad core is better than 1.3 GHz Dual core

Sure, it's technically "better", but you probably won't notice the difference between a 441ppi screen and a 326ppi screen - I can't see individual pixels on my iPhone, so there's no point in having one with an even HIGHER pixel density, is there? Same with the camera. MegaPixels only go so far... Without a proper sensor an extra 5MP probably won't do much good anyway.

And the battery is bigger because the GS4 has a much bigger screen, and therefore consumes more power. It's like saying a massive semi is more powerful than a SUV, so it's "better".

Really?

So the only reason Samsung made a spec bump on their new version was because Apple did that? And what part of the iPhone 5 did Samsung copy with their S4?

I guess you have forgotten Apple vs Samsung Billion Dollar case. Look up the details for what did Samsung copy from Apple.

This sounds like you're just jealous! You're ignoring the fact that the S4 has much better specs than the iPhone 5 and tossing it aside as if it makes no difference. So what makes you the expert, eh? Did you test the phone to support your talk or are you just talking garbage? I bet when the next iPhone comes out with the same hardware, you'd be praising that!
