Thank you Samsung for S4, you did what Tim Cook is unable to do so far, help stop downward sprial of AAPL. S4 is more like reincarnation of Steve Jobs - boosting AAPL value :)

The iPhone 5 did not wow me. I'm still on the 4S. Have an upgrade coming and this new Galaxy looks like a winner!

I'll believe it when I see it. I have a GS3 for work. Still waiting on my Premium Suite upgrade. Apparently Samsung is still at the mercy of the service providers so I'm not counting on ever seeing any of these new features on my phone. Based on my experience with my Epic 4G a couple years ago, I'll be amazed if I ever even get a new version of Android.

So, maybe that's partially Sprint/Verizon/AT&T's fault, but luckily Apple doesn't have that problem.

I'm glad we don't have that problem in Sweden. Is that a US only thing or is it common in other countries also?

Then go to the damn butter pecan forums, fanboy! This is a vanilla forum for vanilla lovers! We don't want your kind here!

I'm sorry, if it's not napolean, You're all delusional

I want choice! I can pick which flavour I want when I want it!

I can, oh yea, I can.

Put down the magnifying glass. ;)

It's probably still more visible than the pixels on the iPhone. Even if its not, it will still have the many other disadvantages of pentile. Super AMOLED Plus at 300ppi would look way better than pentile at 441ppi.
At normal viewing distances, I would disagree.

Color quality may be a different story, but that's not what we're talking about.

I'm no fan of PenTile displays, but there is a point at which the pixels are simply too small to make any noticeable difference.

The other benefit of PenTile in SAMOLED displays is they tend to last longer than RGB SAMOLED displays.

There's been no innovation since the iphone 4 and Samsung has now leaped frogged apple.

Looks like we're going to have to wait another 2 years just to see a 1080p iPhone.

There's always someone "old school" who has to types about things and how they were always better before with their talk of napoleans and spumoni.

Spumoni?

ewww, who wants chunks of stuff in their ice cream! Chunks, Nuts and other such additional features that add to the texture are disgusting! :D

There's that word again that nobody seems to understand. Innovation for the sake of change is pointless. Innovation must have a useful motivation that promotes a change that benefits the user. Samsung just throws whatever they can think of at the wall to see what sticks. Apple weighs the costs and benefits and makes decisions based on providing a good experience. Samsung leapfrogged nobody here.

Mods, noticed how I didn't personally insult this troll.

Innovation

You keep using that word... I do not think it means what you think it means
;):p

There's nowhere really left to go with phones.

The revolution is over.

We're at the "supply chain management" stage of the game until they are superseded by an entirely different form factor.

I agree - Aside from a few relatively minor things, such as wireless charging & NFC built in, and solar charging built into the screen, there's nowhere to go at the moment. The next big thing will probably be the battery being replaced with some other type of energy source, but we won't see anything like that being practically applied to phones for a LOONG time.

----------

Apple should try to exit the smart phone business and save some face while they still have some pride.

No way can they withstand the assault that Samsung is going to provide with their ever more impressive innovations.

The iPhone survived so long thanks to gimmicks, but its not getting it done anymore. Apple will be smart to enter some other market segment like smart watches.

It's not too difficult to make the screen bigger, which seems to be all that everyone wants...

SAMOLED looks like hell. I can definitely see the matrix, but I have exceptional vision.
Not all SAMOLED displays are made the same way.

On an 800x640 display (typical pre-HD display) at 260ppi... yep, PenTile looks like crap.
But we're talking about PenTile displays at 441ppi.
Unless you're rocking 20/5 vision, you are not goign to see the matrix at normal distances.

You don't need iTunes or a PC to use an iPad and iPhone. You haven't since iOS 5.

I guess I haven't been paying enough attention. How do you transfer music and videos to the phone without itunes? If this is truly the case I will be considering an iphone next time i am due for a new phone.

Wifi sync (around for over 2 years now) or itunes in the cloud.

Seem whether Samsung or Apple, people expect every new device to be revolutionary. It just isn't possible. I don't know what Gizmodo thought Samsung could do that would be so revolutionary.

Re the phone, as one who just ditched a Samusng after six months to return to iPhone, I say, "Meh, it runs Android." I'm over Android. Never enjoyed it in those six months.

Agree. I mean they took everything good about the s3 and made it better( higher res screen, processor, camera, battery) all while keeping it in a size no larger than the s3 while also making it thinner. I mean if samsung would have had a new design with same specs bet everyone would be clamoring all over it. People just like to complain.

I'm also a pretty new iPhone user who thought I had to use iTunes to get my own old music and photos to my iPhone. So you get your local mp3-files or local photo albums from your computer over to your iPhone that way, without using iTunes? The only wifi sync I've found is syncing to iTunes.

The problem is then if I want music or photos from another computer, or want to remove music or photos synced from the first computer when it's not around, directly from the phone. The only way I thought you had then was to sync your phone with this second computer, which would make all the old photos and music you got from the first computer disappear.

----------

Out of curiosity, can you add your own songs? 20,000 songs free sounds cool but it doesn't do anything if it's not songs I want to listen to ;)

Yes

Since when did Apple worry about giving people what they want ... that's the problem with Apple, the problem that's destroying their market share and alienating their customer base customer by customer!

just a little bigger version of the cheap plastic toy-like phone that runs that donkeyed up os.
