The "unbreakable" certification is a joke.
Some years back, Panasonic came out to demo their Toughbook with a certified "unbreakable" display. The lady was explaining how it can withstand a drop from 6ft without issue, and dropped it from her shoulder height, which was maybe 5'2". Laptop hits the ground, screen snaps off, flies, and cracks. She looked mortified. Apparently "unbreakable" is still fairly breakable.
Or neither break but you are left with two items connected by a ribbon. At that point the rest of your phone probably breaks before the screen does. Maybe that's the metric.
And don’t forget milspec is usually the lowest price supplier that passes “most” military standards tests. Just a note for people that don’t understand that milspec doesn’t mean the absolute best. It's just a milspec test, similar to how they drop Lenovo laptops. Very common, yet does NOT mean that these are meant for military. The temperature tests here are key. This is likely a play for cars more than anything, because then OEMs don't have to worry about day/night seasonal and hot car fluctuations damaging the display.
Can it really withstand exploding Samsung batteries?
So a scratchable plastic screen whose ability to withstand 6 foot drops makes it “unbreakable.”
Marketing at its finest.
So you are saying making a premium Etch a Sketch phone is superior R&D? Doesn't Samsung need to go fix some exploding washing machines? All those people claim that Samsung copies Apple eat humble pie!

Really? In late-2018? Wouldn't a silicone condom under a faulty keyboard joke be a more timely joke?
I'll take unbreakable but scratches then both breakable and scratcheable like my X. It's an improvement, plain and simple!
Nice try. As if Apple have never marketed a defective product. MacBook Pro keyboard? Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. So you are saying making a premium Etch a Sketch phone is superior R&D? Doesn't Samsung need to go fix some exploding washing machines?
It probably won’t be in Samsung phones for a few years either.I have a feeling this won’t be in this year’s iPhones though.

No anytime Samsung come up with an idea first people will ridicule it until Apple decide to do the same thing. Then we will get told that Apple don’t do it first, they do it right. Or even better we will be told that actually Apple have been working on the same thing for years and that Samsung are just doing a rush release to get it out before Apple. All those people claim that Samsung copies Apple eat humble pie!
