I would be interested to see a ruggedized Mac laptop for military, first responder use.

There's a good reason Apple doesn't even bother. The market for that kind of stuff is very small. On top of that, none of the apps those guys are looking to run are macOS.

You might be able to find a company to make such a device for you but expect to pay a LOT.

I know a few companies make rubberized/rugged cases a MacBook Pro can slip into. But that doesn't ruggedize internal components/screen/etc.

Then Mac people shouldn't complain when they don't see everyone and every organization using Macs exclusively. No more "You should have bought a Mac" when a Mac wouldn't fit their needs in the first place.

You don't generally hear that in the business world. I've never heard anyone tell someone they should get a Mac when they're looking at rolling out 200+ laptops to employees.

Only time you seem to hear people advise getting a Mac is for home users. I'd agree with that. They tend to have less support issues (the hard numbers support this). For home users, they're not likely to be using apps that are only offered on Windows. The average user is doing web browsing, email, and maybe word processing. All things that you can do on any machine.

If it is unbreakable, how will phone manufacturers rip us off for a massively overpriced repair bill?

Name a multi touch phone with a plastic screen that's any good
A lot of cheap phone android 30 dollar in past 4 year. NOw most using glass even cheap 100 dollar. The first touch screen i used hp ipaq 6828rw 2006 and pretty good without glass.

True. Even apple computer is rare nowdays, except their phone. If like video editor, developer yess i see they used apple.

Something tells me that this would be a problematic material in the recycling process compared to glass.

Military use!

This was to be aimed at WatchOS and Apple Watch OR their new Galaxy Gear Watch to debut this fall.

This would be the only area.. BUt it will expand... Apple will catch on to this as well.. People will offset the reason 'i can now drop my phone all the time' as a valid reason to get one.

And, Apple services centers will soon be swamped because everyone needs replacement screens

Not one of the first smartphones with resistive Touch had good screens, they were horrible to touch and that’s why you would use the stylus. It was for this reason alone that the first iPhone felt amazing when you touched the glass display. Hp iPaq, pmsl

unscratchable :( plastic
unbreakable :( f glass

Conclusion , We need diamond, then we can sell 10K USD I-PHONE

Nope for me a bit diff, glasses are base on static electric while old style base on pressure. I don't even used the pencil, stylus provided by hp
(brand name),just used the nail. That's also the most reason, most of the application nowadays are diff. They focus on area which can be touch not focus like mouse click.

LOL, so you liked using your fingernail to work your phone and would prefer that to modern glass displays? Hilarious.

I do more prefer T9 era and full keyboard era then touch screen. From old times to current most battery only one day or 2 day with nada usage. Modern glass are nice graphic but tend to brake easily which people like me a bit clumsy .

They were not pleasant to use but they were as good as it got at that point in time. You can’t implement technology that doesn’t exist or isn’t ready for prime time use. Everything has its time.
