Only reason why samsung is making this ads is because they are afraid of apple, they are not sure if their products are good enough so they are making ads like this one to make themselves feel better about their products. Apple don't do things like that because they no that they make the best products in the world and they dont need to prove that to anybody

Amen brother!!

Hate to tell you guys this but... The only reason Samsung made this ad and all their other ads was... I know this is going to shock you... my theory is quite controversial so please sit before reading... hold on to your hats:

They make these ads to sell stuff. That's it fellas. They want to push product. Turn over inventory. Make money.

Here's something else that may shock you. Apple's ads are there for the very same reason.;)

Why did Samsung start making phones/tablets anyway? They would have been better off sticking with appliances. Hey, does anybody know when the Kenmore Phone 3 comes out? What about the WhirlpoolTab? I can't seem to find any information.

Let the Samsung bashing begin!

Proud Note 3 owner.

Oh; when you guys line up for iPhone 6 don't forget about those Samsung made parts you will be buying keeping Samsung in business.

Cool, you like your device. Doesn't mean samsung isn't a shameless trashy company.

Samsung has been in the phone industry for decades. In fact, if it weren't for Samsung (along with Motorola, and several other companies) contributions to the cell phone industry and infrastructure, Apple would likely be out of business or have had to spend a lot more money and time developing the original iPhone.

But go ahead and ignore history if it makes you feel better.

Um no. And Apple did similar ads. And still do - whether or not they actually mention the competition or not.

Apple did ads that were referring to the operating system experiences (Mac versus generic PC software) whereas Samsung is comparing total units. Believe me, they will never, repeat never, catch up to Apple technologically. How do you like those apples?(A little satire for you)

Generic PC software? Do you mean WINDOWS?

Again - you see what you want to see - it's all good. Have a great weekend.

Interesting ad. Now how many of those people went and bought the samsung tablet after this?

You might be asking the wrong question(s).

How many people who own a samsung tablet now feel better about their decision? How many people didn't know Samsung made a "comparable" tablet to the iPhone? How many people are thinking about a tablet but don't know what use cases justify the purchase. And so on.

This, defiantly agree with this!!! All anybody has to do is go on Samsung's Facebook page and see how many complaints they have. I've been on the UK page and there are lots of people complaining about their devices. Samsung will gladly sell you one of their new tablets and or smartphones, but the moment you have a problem your on your own. I have :apple: products and that's were i shall be staying.

I recently reviewed the the S Tab and I too found it both lighter and brighter than the iPad Air.

However The screen which is the main selling point is horrifically over saturated, which gives a false image which Samsung and over companies blanket the market in as people get all caught up in vibrant colours and don't stop to think that actually in real life this is not how everything looks. Also the screen is highly reflective which people don't seem to notice in this video as the brightness and saturation are so high on very bright solid images.

The contrast levels though is what impressed me but finds itself down pretty low on the blurb.

Real issue I have though is these ads are so cheap, Samsung seem Hell-bent on spending money to put down Apple, one of their biggest customers still and yet never really promote the features of their own products. It feels desperate and petty.

And I am sure these are paid actors, no way they would be so overly bias unless Samsung stopped people and asked do they hate Apple products before they started filming >.>

Would just love a product rated and based on it's own merits. Samsung are starting to fall behind and need to realise that they do not need to keep mentioning Apple. say what is good about what you do instead or your marketing will always feel negative.

Didn't even know they had their own YouTube channel.

They must be glad that someone is watching their stuff.

Wake me up when it's on TV channels where the mass population is more likely to run across it.

Venues like Youtube, Facebook, and other social media sites are extremely viable for advertising, imo. Samsung, like Apple sees the value. That's why they both have Youtube channels. To me it seems even more relevant since social media features prominently in the products they're advertising. I would hazard a guess that Youtube is one of the most used apps on these devices. Besides, they've already had Tab S television ads. Youtube is just another avenue to reach more of the market.

For what it's worth, I commented this on YouTube as well.

Ads like this are so stupid. I'm sure they work, and I'm sure it's effective at persuading people, but come on. It's not like any company ever would include an actually representative sample of what people preferred... I'm sure people talked about the Samsung tablet's plasticky construction. "Definitely lighter" isn't even always a good thing. It can make devices feel cheap. The "it takes up almost no space" comment makes no sense. The devices cover almost an identical surface area... The aspect ratios are just different. Plus, any person who has ever seen street magic performed knows that it's extremely easy to plant an idea in peoples' heads unbeknownst to them. He's pretty clearly presenting Samsung's device as better from the get go both verbally and non-verbally.

It's depressing to me that this kind of marketing affects people. It's so phoney and requires no effort or creativity. Just an editing room and a good host.

Blah.

It doesn't even matter what device is "better," this type of advertising is just trashy.
Marketing researchers are divided. Bashing the opponent leads to 2 things:
1. The fans like the brand even better.
2. The competitor fans "hate" the brand even more.

The question people disagree upon is what happens to the mass. The ad provokes negative emotions and the trick is to get most of the negative emotions directed toward the competitor. But this is risky business. I personally believe these ads are bad. Apple did a bit better with the "mac vs pc"-ads because they were humorous. These are plain "evil".

Again, the competition doesnt get it. Apple is both a software and hardware company and they are good at both disciplines.
Hardware-wise Android and PCs have caught up and surpassed them but you can't beat iOS for its sheer number of developers and software optimisation for its hardware (silky smooth operation on modest hardware specs, great battery life, over the air updates, etc.). Even MS has allowed Windows Phone requirements to be more stringent so they two are benefitting from the Nokia and MS partnership.

If Samsung kept making very good hardware and stopped putting their touchwiz overlay (i.e. they went all vanilla android) then perhaps they'll have a good standing against the competition. So far they fail to realise that good user experience goes beyond hardware specs.

You made a great point Mustang! About what I have no idea, but it's a great point nonetheless

I wonder if there are people who go to a Samsung site and say "proud iPhone user here, let the Apple bashing begin".

After I read your comment I wondered to myself 'Do Samsung fans have a site like this?'

So I searched for samsung forums and the first result was macrumors (lol), other than the usual tech sites like tech radar, there was one called Samsungrumors.

Went to it, 0 comments on basically every post. Probably a site that is paid for and maintained solely by samsung, as are the actors in this horrible ad.

Sorry my friend but I think it's you that has the problem with perception. The point is Apple does not have to directly go after anyone, nor should any company. Companies that design really great hardware stand on their own two legs and not by directly targeting their competition by name. And you have a great weekend also!

I agree but apple is not making this kind of ads to push their products, they don't need to compare ipad or iphone to any other product because they know they are making te best and costumers also know it, samsung and other companies make this ads because they want to convince people in something that even they know isn't true and that is that they are making the best products but it seems that they dont go well

Lol. I'm a member of quite a few android forums and post on some android blogs. It's rare to see apple users on those sites signing up just to say how bad android is. Leads to two possible conclusions

1) the moderation on macrumors is horribly bad or
2) Samsung users are bored with their devices.

I'm sticking with the latter

I live in NYC.
I have never seen anyone using Samsung tablet.

Me too and ditto. That's not to say they're not there but you would think you'd see at least one in NYC!
