Clearly those people are hired actors - they all prefer the Samsung!:cool:

Saying things that sound like marketing text was the bigger clue

----------

And yes, Apple perhaps did start it with the Mac vs PC ads a while back. But the beauty of those ads was that Apple was generic about it, they didn't target specific manufacturers or particular devices. Just shows how desperate the competition must be if they're always attacking specific Apple products directly.

That was half the beauty. The other half was that most of those ads addressed actual complaints you could read on dozens of websites. Not issues Apple just pulled out of thin air. And highlighting the issues that they did may have had the additional result of getting them addressed in Windows as well.

Don't you forget that it was Samsung who used insider knowledge and had full access to all of Apple's prototypes in advance as a parts supplier to create the parts needed for Apples products.
Apple doesn't give more then samsung needs to know, so from the final product thats not a lot. And samsung is different companies under a group.

Who also created the Galaxy line based on this insider knowledge. The Note with that fail stylus is nothing more than a modified Galaxy phone.

Problem is te first galaxy doesn't resemble iphone even though according to you they knew the design. When the next version came out the galaxy S the iphone 4 with a quite different look was already out, again if they knew and copied why the difference ?

If Samsung were so talented why don't they stop using cheap plastic? It's like the iPhone 3G. As shown with the recent Alpha line, Samsung can't put Galaxy S5 power, cam, inside a thin aluminum/metal case and still maintain a thin profile.
Because plastic has its advantages?

----------

are you talking about windows? and the pc ads?

Among others, but every keynote and in press releases or interviews they do the same.

Its normal for companies to do this and they all do it.

The add is actually quite good showing the advantages of samsung device vs competitors.

No.. It is just because it is cheap.

I don't see a big difference in price for the plastic iphone 5c .

Wether you want to accept it or not plastic has its advantages, light, durable, easily moldable,colors,... and yes cheaper to produce but thats just part of it. And after all I can't count the "fancy" iphones and htc ones, xperia P's and lots of others covered by ugly plastic bumpers and cases.

oh come on, you really need to be extremely naive to actually believe these comments of these "people" are sincere. All good looking and "hip" looking folks whom can lighten up the whole street when it's becoming dark with a single smile showing their perfect arranged teeth.

If these people aren't actors then my name is the holy pope.

Then you have dozens of these so called spontaneous interviews and yes, of course spontaneous editing is involved to. *next*

You mean the need for you to multi task is low.

turn that around. The need for YOU to multitask is apparently high. But that doesn't mean that Apple has to support it. If it's that big of a deal for you then don't use iOS use something that gives you the multitasking you need so much.

What's wrong with using a bumper for protection purposes? What's ugly or not is in the eye of the beholder. Besides, my "bumper" for my iPhone 5 also does his job by giving extra battery life.

"Plastic = cheap" is where I responded on.

The notion that a lot have that metal phones are actually better because its doesn't use plastic.

Not trying to be a troll here, but comments about "copying" crack me up. If we use that logic, then all touch based smart phones are "copying" the iPhone 1. And of course lets not forget about automobiles. The Buggati Veyron is clearly just a copy of the 1930's Ford. It's called progress. People accuse Apple of copying, or falling behind only because they led the way so dramatically for so many years. Now that the speed and ease of production have caught up based on newer technologies, companies with more money/expendable cash, etc. The line between "revolutionary" and "game changing" is more and more narrow. So yes.. companies simply piggy back off of each other, one-uping each other each year. Call it copying if you want, but it's simply growth, improvement, and quite honestly I'm VERY happy they all do it. Because it guarantees me a super cool new product each time I buy!

My bet is, within a year, suddenly all devices with suddenly have Sapphire Glass... oops.. copying. They are all knock-offs of the original iPhone, and the cycle goes round and round from there.

And while we are on the subject of copying.. Apple invented the mouse... oops. Guess everyone in the industry of PCs are just copying...

You are so right in this! I totally agree, copying is good. Thanks for copying iPhone 1 the consumer can now choose from various companies who all are able tot deliver a fine smartphone devise. And Apple copied as well, several times. But that's just ok!

I never understood why people are battling about which product is better, it
s so freaking immature that I really can't take these so called debates about which is better the iPhone or the Galaxy whatever. It's a device, get over it folks. All devises are good these days. Everybody happy! :apple:

This reminds me of the coke vs pepsi taste test commercials done back in the 80s....

The big difference is that this would be like them comparing the color of the soda, the brightness of the labels, and the shape of the bottles. At least in Coke vs. Pepsi, people actually took the time to experience it before they made their choice. Once you factor in user experience, and the horror that is TouchWiz, there would have to be a whole lot more editing to find the Samsung choices on the street. :D

yes Everybody is happy but Samsung

Its an add what do you expect? :)

Two words: less obvious

^^ True, it's an add, doesn't need any explanation, but this is so obvious not authentic that it makes, i.m.h.o. this add pretty unconvincing. I work in the media business, making adds myself including for television and trying to convince people which make them want to buy these products is primarily where commercials are all about...

The notion that a lot have that metal phones are actually better because its doesn't use plastic.

Fair enough, and true. But I do think that phones made out of metal don't break that easy compared to phones made out of plastic... But that aside, no, you're right, plastic doesn't make the phone work faster or better, neither does metal.

Do you create anything for a living? Maybe I'll just sit next to you at your job, wait for you to do something, put all the hard work in, then I'll just copy it and charge 75% of whatever you do. Copy IS great. Wow, I'm totally enlightened now....

This add to me does that, again it nicely lines out why you should choose and samsung tab over an ipad, which is the choice most well be making.

When have you ever had a phone actually break?

Letting it fall is more luck then design in how it survives.

All companies copy, get over this stupid notion that some companies don't look at what others do.

No need to get hysterical about this. I meant copying in the context of making similar machines and similar functionality. It's getting insane when one company suing the other one because of the shape of a given device that looks similar. The whole "paten war" is getting ridiculous and it's just recently that both parties Samsung and Apple finally starting to understand that suing one and another doesn't bring them anywhere.

And yes, I create stuff, and yes it has been copied a lot during my lifetime already, but I don't sue everyone because a design made by me looks familiar. Only when the similarities are extremely the same, but that's hardly the same.

100% copy is not good, but there is a world between making one 100% copy and trying to achieve something that looks familiar. What's next? Suing Apple because the come up with a bigger screen like those Galaxy phones? Or suing Samsung because there Pad's have round about the same shape as those of Apple's iPad?

It's juts plain silly.

I ditched my iPad for a new galaxy tab s and can tell you first hand the screen blows the doors off of any iPad

For everything I used my iPad for I can do on my galaxy tab

This add to me does that, again it nicely lines out why you should choose and samsung tab over an ipad, which is the choice most well be making.

Well, you're easy to convince then :D I prefer Apple's iPad simply because i prefer Apple's ecosystem, something Samsung can't offer me. But besides that, they both are nice machines and I wish you all the best with these Samsung machines.

This commercial doesn't appeal to me, but that's because I've seen these types of commercials once to often ^^ Apple did exactly the same thing, ten years ago. And other companies doing this for decades; comparing which is better. All fine, but not for me. Everybody his or her taste... ^^

When have you ever had a phone actually break?

Honestly? Never. But that's besides the point. And I never used plastic devices ^^

Letting it fall is more luck then design in how it survives.

This I don't believe. You can simply put devices to a test and several independent companies have done so. It showed clearly that the iPad was more sustain to impact then several competitors and for me this counts since I travel a lot and sometimes within hard conditions. For my long trip trough Syria (just before the war) I bought myself a D7 Canon camera, I could have bought the little brother which was just a fine in the inside as for his brother the D7, but the D7 was made out of metal and more sustainable materials. Since it felt on several occasion I'm glad that I bought the more expensive one.

I can't proof what would have happened when I had bought the plastic cheaper version, but I can't take risk in this since it's part of my job to do a lot with these devices. And I rely on independent test more then on smiling people in front of a camera stating that plastic is just as good as metal ^^

Let the Samsung bashing begin!

Proud Note 3 owner.

Oh; when you guys line up for iPhone 6 don't forget about those Samsung made parts you will be buying keeping Samsung in business.

And yet, you are here on a “All things Mac” site that anticipates the very rumors of the next Apple innovations in the world of Mac. You may secretly be a repressed Mac fan behind those closet doors labled Samsung!

Its ok. You are amung frineds.

Because the Galaxy Alpha doesn't look like an iPhone 5/5s.

Conceptual copying is not what I'm referring to. This is more like blatant copying right down to the details.

To the uninformed, this ad is convincing and it makes me want to look at the Galaxy Tab S in person. Too bad I'm informed and I know that Android is its weakness. :apple:

Euh I am waiting on the new ipad , I perhaps should have said "i can imagine that this is an add ..."

Honestly? Never. But that's besides the point. And I never used plastic devices ^^
I never even heard it happening so its a moot point I think.

Again a plastic phone can be a lot more durable then a metal think old nokia phones, all plastic.

On average over a lot of falls yes then design counts, but then plastic durable smartphones are a lot better then any current smartphone.

For the average consumer who barely drops his phone its more luck then anything else.

iPad Air- 469 grams
Galaxy Tab S- 465 grams

SO MUCH LIGHTER

10.5" vs 9.7"

Why did Samsung start making phones/tablets anyway? They would have been better off sticking with appliances. Hey, does anybody know when the Kenmore Phone 3 comes out? What about the WhirlpoolTab? I can't seem to find any information.

They've made a lot of money from it. Also they've made phones for longer than Apple!

I checked out the Tab S 8.4" model

To the uninformed, this ad is convincing and it makes me want to look at the Galaxy Tab S in person. Too bad I'm informed and I know that Android is its weakness. :apple:

It is impressive. Nice trim, thin, Bright screen, exaggerated colors due to the AMOLED but that is typical. Light... not as heavy as the slightly smaller iPad mini. Price is fairly up there... $399 CAN... some-what like an iPad mini. Android. Nothing wrong with Android... it's a great OS that has come as far in 1/2 the time. I am tempted to get the Tab S 8.4 instead of another iPad. Who knows... I am still thinkin' about it.
So what have you been informed about regarding Android?
Also, I am checking out the new Blackberry Passport phone. Very sexy. QNX OS is very powerful... makes iOS look sucky. Although, not as many apps on their platform... but, can run Android apps now.
