Good for Samsung
Look, we all know that Samsung is a shameless copycat. But they don't generally make substandard technology. People have made some negative claims about the Galaxy Tab S that I can't verify. But by now, Android has mostly caught up to iOS, and the GTS is probably a fine tablet to have. If you don't already have an investment in iOS software, or you want a second tablet, and you like it, get one! They're all mostly just toys anyway. Are you going to say the iPad isn't used as a toy 90% of the time?
A phone is less of a toy. But I'll be honest. I buy an iPhone out of sheer laziness. I have Apple computers (because I like MacOS X way better than Windows, and I've gotten burned too many times by Linux on the desktop, and I also think Apple hardware is solid). So I get an iPhone, because it's just easier. I also get an iPhone because I don't have to think about it. I have so much other stuff I have to worry about (mostly family and work) that I just don't want to take the time to figure out which phone is "best". The best phone is some Android phone. The worst phone is some Android phone (or perhaps Palm). If I do a ton of research, I'll get a bunch of conflcting reports on which phone is best and probably end up with something near the top, assuming the store actually carries that model (which with my luck they won't). If I DON'T do the research and I just go buy whatever the sales guy offers me, I'm very likely to get a piece of garbage. On the other hand, if I get an iPhone, I'm assured of getting a pretty good phone that will work well for my needs. And I didn't even have to think about it.
I can use the time I saved to teach my kids reading, math, ... and time management. With limited energy, you choose your battles.
