The thing is, I believe a marketing department rather then a group of members on an Apple forum in relation to what marketing works. Plus its worked already, its got people talking. ;)

Getting people talking is very different to people believing what an ad says. But you are right a marketing department's job is to get talk about an ad happening. Get it out there. If people believe it or not, I don't think they care.

Fair points, I agree. iOS has lacked features, Android has them, and every iOS update there is a catchup of sorts. I have seen that gathering momentum as the post SJ era has gone on. SJ created the modern smartphone and tablet but his restrictions, were, well, restrictive. Thats over. iOS8/Yosemite are more important to me that whatever the iPhone 6 is, as my one, anecdotal example.

I take my hat off to you, thats one of the first logical replies I have seen on here in a long time.

Some people prefer ios
Some people prefer Android
Some people prefer Windows
Some people prefer Apple
Some people prefer Samsung
Some people prefer Microsoft

The genius is, we all have choice.

All companies want to be number 1 and make the most profit. Comparing your product against that of a competitor has gone on for decades. I just don't understand why some people get so upset about it.

Samsung might have a great product, but...

a) Not an Apple product
b) Does not run iOS
c) Runs Android

Game over. Nothing else matters.

Samsung, and other Android devices, keep on missing the point: it's NOT about the technical specifications, it's about the user experience, the apps, the operating system, etc, which is the real reason as of why people buy Apple products, not the tech specs.

I would disagree. Everything plays a part in why some people choose the device and operating system.

Some people simply chose Apple because it has a :apple: on the back and no other reason.

The Tab S is actually a very good effort from Samsung. I'm sure if it was a unibody aluminium design even the folk and the Verge would have to admit it was quite good.

People getting upset seem to forget that Apple and Samsung occupy very different spheres in the market. Samsung sales are generally quite good, but it's only because they market their products to death. As it is, Apple is in the luxurious position of knowing that consumers would pick their products by default. Sure some of them probably have tried the competition and have a genuine preference but on the whole I'd say that people just stick to what they know.

Think of the iPhone 6 release. There will be queues regardless of what is announced, such is Apples appeal. People are already selling their current iPhones so that they can upgrade to a device they know next to nothing about. Who would do that for a Galaxy phone?

It is childish to get so worked up about ads like this.

What they failed to show you was behind the scenes. "if you choose the Samsung one, you can keep it since we can't sell them."

Samsung, and other Android devices, keep on missing the point: it's NOT about the technical specifications (smart phones are tablets are already more than powerful enough for 95% of the users).

Instead, it's all about the user experience, the apps, the operating system, etc, which is the real reason as of why people buy Apple products. And, in those
areas, iOS is clearly superior to Android.

I agree with this completely.

No matter what, the product in question is never going to be an iPad made by Apple; with Apple user experience. It is just "something similar" for many people.

That has always mattered way more than technical specifications.

Oh; when you guys line up for iPhone 6 don't forget about those Samsung made parts you will be buying keeping Samsung in business.

This is getting hilarious. There's a certain pride of representing a company by buying their phone?

But when I have a tech support issue, I don't have to call a company that doesn't make their own OS. I hate using products where the OS and the hardware aren't made by the same company. You get worse support. That's why I abandoned PC's running Windows. the support was horrible as was the user experience.

Isn't the Samsung only a 32 Bit processor? Still. I'm sure Samsung is in full court press since Apple's getting ready to release their new iPads for the year. This happens all of the time. Samsung compares their latest product to Apple's almost a year old product.

One thing I have noticed in recent years, is that these forms of discussion, of the Apple vs Samsung variety, were always about running down iOS. You don't hear that now. There are many really nice phones out there, but the OS is more and more important. Apple only has one model. But its a great design, always has been, so the OS is still the key player, and iOS is growing by leaps and bounds. The 7000 new features added to every Samsung Android version never worked.

:D you need a napkin mate. 1 finger up for Samsung and their sheeps. Apple is doomed. Samesung is all worried and scared now and crying like sheeps. Apple all the way for me.

1. Ease of use
2. Premium device
3. iOS 8
4. Billions of apps to choose from.
5. Touch ID soon all over apple products.
6. most of all getting a big bag of money recycling device.

I don't usually subscribe to calling people iSheep, but to say a lack of multitasking "helps people to be more focused and productive" was pretty funny to read.

How about something as simple as writing a commentary on a long PDF or a section of a book. When you can see both on the same screen you can have flow and focus in your work stream. If you can only see one at a time it is very unproductive. It's akin to washing dishes with one hand; it can be done, but why would you?

Isn't the iPad air almost a year old? so they're comparing something that was recently released to something about to get refreshed. How about they re-shoot this commercial when the air 2 is released....

Another one ready to teach marketing at the University level.

Your right, BUT, how productive do you want to be? Tablets are there for consumption, but you can be productive, but you don't want to spend much time at all on a tablet, its too hard, laptop is far superior. And the screen is too small to have 2 or 3 apps using the screen. Yes, great idea, but in real life, not so much.

That would backfire. The same happened with iPhone releases, they never were close to Galaxy's, release date wise

I wish I was asked to do this, I would kerb stomp the Samsung :p

Ace! I have never looked at it like that before.

I'm getting sick of these adverts, not just Samsung but from other competitors. Why can't they just advertise their products for the features that they have and let it stand on it's own two feet instead of always having to compare it directly with the iPhone 5S or the iPad Air.

And yes, Apple perhaps did start it with the Mac vs PC ads a while back. But the beauty of those ads was that Apple was generic about it, they didn't target specific manufacturers or particular devices. Just shows how desperate the competition must be if they're always attacking specific Apple products directly.

Vista?
