Reminds me of that first Apple vs. Samsung lawsuit on patent infringement where the judge held up an iPad and a Samsung tablet, and the Samsung lawyer could not tell which one is which.

Look, we all know that Samsung is a shameless copycat. But they don't generally make substandard technology. People have made some negative claims about the Galaxy Tab S that I can't verify. But by now, Android has mostly caught up to iOS, and the GTS is probably a fine tablet to have. If you don't already have an investment in iOS software, or you want a second tablet, and you like it, get one! They're all mostly just toys anyway. Are you going to say the iPad isn't used as a toy 90% of the time?

A phone is less of a toy. But I'll be honest. I buy an iPhone out of sheer laziness. I have Apple computers (because I like MacOS X way better than Windows, and I've gotten burned too many times by Linux on the desktop, and I also think Apple hardware is solid). So I get an iPhone, because it's just easier. I also get an iPhone because I don't have to think about it. I have so much other stuff I have to worry about (mostly family and work) that I just don't want to take the time to figure out which phone is "best". The best phone is some Android phone. The worst phone is some Android phone (or perhaps Palm). If I do a ton of research, I'll get a bunch of conflcting reports on which phone is best and probably end up with something near the top, assuming the store actually carries that model (which with my luck they won't). If I DON'T do the research and I just go buy whatever the sales guy offers me, I'm very likely to get a piece of garbage. On the other hand, if I get an iPhone, I'm assured of getting a pretty good phone that will work well for my needs. And I didn't even have to think about it.

I can use the time I saved to teach my kids reading, math, ... and time management. With limited energy, you choose your battles.

Good comments. Here are two true stories. Mate at work today talked about his Android, all he did was tinker, customise. Noting wrong with that, but don't the other side call Apple gear iToys? Thats all he did with his. Buggy apps, lag, ads, he switched. A woman at work would banter with me with her S3. her hubby bought her an iPhone, she was PI$$ED. Did not take long for her to love it, solid, no ads EVERYWHERE, no lockups and glitches. We can argue till the sheep come home, but the bottom line is the OS. Nice to have plenty of phone choice, but its the OS and what goes with it that is the UX

Oh; when you guys line up for iPhone 6 don't forget about those Samsung made parts you will be buying keeping Samsung in business.

We'll do! Apple has kept Samsung in the business more than Samsung themselves have.

Oh, and when your Touch ID fails again or you've been hampered by spam on your Samsung - don't forget that this was all part of your choice, when you favoured Korean copycats that persuaded you with specs marketing.

I manage the mobile product delivery for a pretty large company and the Android tablet segment is the least relevant market for us.

Oh, we make sure the App is available because those few users are the squeakiest wheels on the store reviews but they are insignificant compared to the iPad traffic.

I don't usually subscribe to calling people iSheep, but to say a lack of multitasking "helps people to be more focused and productive" was pretty funny to read.

Here is why.

You can use a true productive machine, such as a desktop, laptop, may have a 15 screen or a 27. But on a handheld tablet the need to multitask is low. Watch two movies? Yes you may wish to browse MacRumours and have email up, but on a 9.7 inch screen thats making both UX poor. On my iPad Air, I swipe to switch apps. On Safari I swipe as well. Rumoured is an option to allow some apps to run in the background, that will be useful for some apps, but hardly a deal breaker on a teeny screen

You mean the need for you to multi task is low. Thats the genius of having choice. If someone wants to multi task, they can. If you don't want to use it, you don't have to.

Its that magic word again - choice.

Very clever, I see what you did there. I'm presuming your school never taught you understanding, tolerance and the fact of life that everyone makes mistakes ;)
Just like Samsung made a mistake releasing this ad and believing the intelligent folk will believe it?
Samsung do not see it as a mistake but clearly it is.

What does the fact that they are Korean have to do with anything?

Either the phone is good or it isn't? I couldn't care less where it is made.

There are ads in freemium games on both android and iOS.

The thing is, I believe a marketing department rather then a group of members on an Apple forum in relation to what marketing works. Plus its worked already, its got people talking. ;)

I also have $99. Are you proud of me?

Fair points, I agree. iOS has lacked features, Android has them, and every iOS update there is a catchup of sorts. I have seen that gathering momentum as the post SJ era has gone on. SJ created the modern smartphone and tablet but his restrictions, were, well, restrictive. Thats over. iOS8/Yosemite are more important to me that whatever the iPhone 6 is, as my one, anecdotal example.

Samsung, and other Android devices, keep on missing the point: it's NOT about the technical specifications (smart phones are tablets are already more than powerful enough for 95% of the users).

Instead, it's all about the user experience, the apps, the operating system, etc, which is the real reason as of why people buy Apple products. And, in those areas, iOS is clearly superior to Android.

I do love these threads.

Pure entertainment watching all the Apple fans get upset! Calm down people!

Lets turn it up a notch shall we - "So it was ok for Apple to do it in the Mac vs PC ads?" ;)

+1. I agree completely. The funniest ones try to 'analyze' the ad and provide some type of  logical  reason why the ad is incorrect. One would think they didn't know the purpose of marketing. :D

Those extra pixels wouldn't be an extra selling point for me. Every pixel above 1080p is just too much for mobile for me. Amoled is nice though, it's time apple starts looking into this technology. And yeah, since it's plastic vs metal, it should be lighter, so no surprises there. The selection of apps still is the main selling point for the iPad to me and I will not switch for the coming years.
