The only one who should be able to make fun of Apple regarding battery life is Motorola. The Droid Maxx has amazing battery life, and I wish Apple would offer a less slim model with more battery life like the Maxx.

I could not agree more with this statement as the owner of the Droid MAXX. It just goes and goes and goes. The phone might not have the best specs, but it lasts and lasts and has a very smooth and stable OS for an Android phone. It's fairly thin and only has a 5" screen so it proves they could easily put bigger, better batteries into phones if they wanted.

If you really want to conserve the iPhone battery, just switch to Airplane mode when you aren't using the phone. Switch it off when you want to use it. You'll be surprised how much longer it will last.

Lol. So the solution is to not use your device. I'm sure the 6 will have a better battery life, which is exactly why I'm waiting on it.

This article basically shows the iPhone 5S as having a more responsive UI and faster processor, but the battery times are 5hr46m for iPhone 5s vs 8hr5m for the Samsung s5. That's a pretty huge difference in batteries

This ad doesn't ring true to me at all. In 7 years of owning an iphone, I've had a problem with my iphone battery exactly once - when my flight got cancelled, and I had to rent a car and navigate 120 miles to my destination with my iphone. So in that case, yes, my iPhone died and I had to buy a car charger.

I feel like I use my iP5 a lot, but I guess not compared to some people...

I never understood this marketing narrative: "Hey, users of a competitive device! Look here! You're a bunch of monkey turds! Now look at our product! Don't you want to buy it?"

Um, no.

Not commenting on the advert.

Given that the new iPhone will be consirerably larger in it's internal volume, if they keep the thickness the same as it is now.

I guess we are expecting the new 4.7" iPhone 6 will have considerably better battery life than the current iPhone 5.

Likewise the 5.5" iPhone 6 will offer a vast amount more space, so even with the larger screen should offer even better battery life than the 4.7" model, after all, it's only the backlight has got to glow across a larger area, if we assume it has the same screen resolution as the 4.7" model.

Um, no.

Yeah its a strange strategy I agree. I guess Samsung feels they don't need more customers lol.

Half the ad is about how the iPhone gets worse battery life (probably not true). They had to choose a word to call that. If I were in Samsung's position, I'd do the same thing.

The right word to choose is "comparing," but of course the others have more emotional impact and get the desired reaction from readers. Whether Samsung's claims are totally justified is not the point. Everybody makes claims and compares their products favorably to their competition. Characterizing these claims as attacks when Apple is on the receiving end is hyperbole, plain and simple.

I agree; Samsung's ad's don't just bash apple's products, they bash the users. It's a strange tactic, insulting the people you apparently want to win over.

iPhone users having to constantly charge means iPhone users actually use their damned phones.

Android phone users not charging as much is partly because their phones aren't as great a user experience, hence they use less battery due to less actual use.

Without Samsung, this world would be a boring place! They keep us entertained with jokes. Galaxy is a bigger phone than iPhone thus includes a bigger battery.

This logic makes no sense, the iPhone has a smaller screen so it's smaller battery should be able to power it as long as the S5..

do they have independent data to back their claims up? if so then fine - but otherwise I wouldn't be so quick to compare battery life - its all about how you use your phone - i keep my brightness up full power - have bluetooth, wifi and notifications running and get a day. we all know android phones aren't used as heavily as iPhones. are they averaging the battery life?

...but it's Android. *puke*
lol - funniest thing i have heard all week!
Apple's priority is clear... thinness over battery life
Tis very sad! Damn Ive obsession with thinness!

Is Samsung serious!? My friend has a S4 and she constantly charging it while i'm like "i'm at 45% battery life" at the end of day
You sir deserve a trophy
Apple ads: Shows off the potential of the product.
Samsung ads: Insults the competitor and the users, a competitor they copied off of.

You seem rather naive - do you remember the mac vs pc ads

In my experience, my iPhone was dying at the end of each day in the US when I was roaming on T-Mobile in LA and when I was on an AWS carrier (Wind) back home in Canada. Once I switched back to a non-AWS carrier, I have not had my phone die on me.

I think the battery life has a lot to do with the quality of your network where you are. AWS networks use a lot more power because they have trouble getting through inside buildings.

Funny how Samsung had to create a much larger phone in order to get the same performance and more battery life as an iPhone. Remember when they tried to compete with the iPhone on size with the S4 Mini and failed miserably? If/when a larger iPhone is released I'm sure it will beat the S5 in battery life as well as everything else.

Samsung and the people who fall for these ads are pathetic.

I am a student and frequent flyer and I see everyone constantly charging their phone. It doesn't matter the brand. I think the 5S's battery life is pretty bad but from other people, I have heard that the S5's battery is just as bad. Most of my friends have Mophie juice pack cases for their iPhones and the same for the S5. They do not replace the battery, ever.

It's funny because in my experience, even though the iPhone has a much smaller battery physically, it never fails to keep me charged up throughout the day and then some. I've always found iPhone batteries to last very long (except maybe in the early days). Apple is great at optimization and although many people complain about poor battery, I've never experienced that. However most of the Android experiences I've had, struggled to get through an entire day. This includes the Nexus 5 (which is terrible for longevity) and the One M8 (which people praise the battery on but I never saw results). The Moto G and Nexus 7 (2013) however are on par with Apple's offerings in my opinion.

i know samsung isn't looking to convert iphone users with these ads they've been approving.. how are they expecting me to want to buy their products after these commercials?

the more they make fun of my choice in product, the more they belittle my intelligence in that choice, and the more they bully me into even remotely thinking i use an inferior product, the bigger my middle finger gets pointed in their direction. they're a bunch of jerks that are taking the worst kinds of jabs at ios/apple users.

There is SOME truth to this. But when it comes down to it, battery life depends on how you use your phone. If you use it super heavily of course it's constantly going to be needing to be plugged in.

Yeah, the variables involved in battery usage are so complex, it’s almost a wash. Use, apps, proximity to wireless services (Wifi and cell), etc., it seems like all phones are always out of battery :D

We were at the condo with my two BILs just a few weeks ago, and their non-Apple phones (one was a GSIII) were plugged in out of necessity about the same amount as our two iPhones, unless the usage was dramatically different (I streamed audio on mine a good bit, the battery was consumed a bit quicker ... no surprise).

Last time I flew out of DCA, down at Term C, there’s a bunch of standing tables with charging stations, and there was a pretty wide distribution of phones plugged in, sharing outlets, etc.

I guess we could debate the effectiveness of a swappable battery vs. something like a Pilot 10000mAh portable charger that charges an iPhone ~5 times (a battery only is definitely smaller, my use case is usually when traveling so I have a bag with me, or I’m in a car with a charger handy). Without question the Samsung product has a removable battery as the commercial states, no debate about that.

Regardless of the reality of the situation, battery life is big concern, so if there’s any superiority to the Samsung product at all, it’s not a bad marketing spin.

Lol that's was a very good advert. Creative and made me laugh - and this is from an iPhone user since day 1.
