Whats the bet iOS 8 (or 7.1) will have true multi tasking?

iOS 7.1: surely not.

iOS8: Highly unlikely, unless Apple do release an iPad Pro. The latter would be ridiculous with the current fullscreen-apps-only-on-a-huge-screen iOS.

----------

Samsung is a copycat company. The Microsoft of today. Boring. Bland. Generic. Redundant. Milking the design and name with other variations. I expect another design disappointment with their S5 next week.

Design-wise, it indeed boring and isn't the best. However, feature-wise (which is far more important for a lot of us than design), exactly the opposite. For example, they've been the first to offer 4K video recording. Which, most probably, not even the iPhone 6 will have. An entire year after the release of the 4K-capable Note 3 - talk about innovation... Heck, the iPhone 5s doesn't even have stereo audio recording while shooting video - something most other handsets have supported for years.

I wonder if there are limitations? They showed watching a movie and checking email, or was that a browser?, what about email and Excel at the same time...I mean Numbers...I mean??...what do they have for spreadsheets? Maybe it's just movies and something else. What about 3 things at a time? :)

On both my Tab and S3 (custom ROM so had the feature ported to it by some kind Developer) I can use ANY two installed apps simultaneously - be they email apps, office apps (there is a choice, I use QuickOffice Pro), web browsers, media players, file browsers, sat nav (online or stand alone) camera, video calling, phone, sms etc, etc (you get the picture) and the split screen for the two apps can be adjusted easily on-the-fly from 50:50 to any ratio that suits.
Frankly, it's awesome!

Yet you commented in a thread about a Samsung device. That's like going to a strip club with your wife.

I have no intentions to buy a mac pro, but i commented on its thread..I also do not desire a Tesla, I also commented on that thread. :)

Funny

I have to admit that these two are actually quite funny. I wasn't expecting to laugh out loud but I did.

We can laugh at these all we want but I know one thing. I am dying for a bigger screen on the iPhone. Simple as that.

That tablet ad had me laughing. :D Good stuff.
But you know what's funnier? 23 pages of the MR militia storming the advert hill rebutting Samsung's ad b/c someone dared to poke Apple with a stick that didn't even make a dent but it sure got you riled up. Riveting reads.

iPad fan

I have three iPads in my home. I love them. That said, with iOS7, my iPad4 freezes and restarts at least once per day...without fail.

I had a feeling that once Apple got their hooks into me (read: us) with their ecosystem, they'd let the quality slide. They've been taking their customers for granted ever since the iPad and iPhone took off.

I'm not saying I'm going to switch (too much money and time invested in iOS only apps), but like an ill treated spouse who starts getting attention from the hot guy/girl in accounting...it feels good to be teased and tickled a little.

Just sayin'.........

I have never seen a single person ever using a stylus on a Samsung phone. Not once, ever. I see lots and lots of Galaxy users. Nobody has ever been poking at their enormous screen with a stylus. Mostly they are running around trying to find power because their phones are all dead by lunchtime.

I disagree... They do use that pen... To show others (especially iPhone users) how cool it is... And then it goes back into its hole (literally) to never see the light again... Hardly if ever... My best friend picked up the note 3 for the stylus... he first week he went crazy with the pen... Now I haven't seen him remove that pen in a month... lol...

The jailbreaking community made it into one ;)..But I do not see any reason why note 3 users should stay with the note 3 and not go in for a 12" tab pro..It just makes more sense give the price difference between the two..I wish my firm had given us the choice between the note 3 and the tab pro..I'd lapped the tab pro up in a minute, used it for netflix and used bluetooth to make calls when out of the country..

I can see why. Ever since i picked up a Note, I've been blessed with the freedom to leave my other devices behind. Three days out of the week I don't even need my Macbook Pro.

I enjoyed iOS, but I without a doubt had to carry the iPhone, iPad, iPod, and Macbook with me every day.

I'm sorry, but all of the things you stated there are untrue and were made in a failed attempt at humour.

No, just proving your anecdotal evidence moot. I also did it without insulting you and resorting to childish behavior. I must of struck a cord so I apologize for showing the readers of the thread that your point is utterly moot, and useless.

p.s. My post was true, and by a real person as well. In fact, you can take the time to search the forums and threads and see that I've made those claims many many times about iOS6 and iOS8.

how old is that data?

REALLY old, and drawn by the OP apparently.

I bet the S5's main feature is a stylus, S-pen o whatever.

Oh like what . . . . the iPhone's new crystal lens coating? Or an extra half an inch at the bottom to make the phone longer?

OH NO! Flat icons that "float" over your home-screen picture!

Apple's desktop computers didn't have real (preemptive) multitasking for a long time, either. Or even any kind of multitasking at first.

I think that in general, Apple likes to start simple, and stay that way as long as possible.

Jobs was a salesman. He dissed what his products did not have (right up until they did).

In real life, we don't use just fingers to draw, sign checks, write notes, paint pictures. We use writing and drawing instruments like pens, pencils, crayons, brushes.

Styluses have been and still are one of the most popular and abundant iDevice accessories.

Apple sells styli in their stores and at least one kit in their online store.

What other companies like Samsung and HTC include are not just dumb fat stylus (as in finger replacement) support. Instead, they include active pen support, such as Wacom digitizers, in addition to finger support.
Best of both worlds.

.

Well said.

It's a commercial; get over it. What do you expect them to do? If this was an Apple commercial doing the same thing to Samsung would you have the same comments? If your playing a online game with someone wouldn't you expose their weaknesses? The way I see it it's Apple's turn to respond back. This business is huge money and cut throat.

We already know what they'll say if apple does a similar commercial. They'll say its completely different.

I have an Apple iPhone 5S.. I am not running around looking for power.

I actually BRING IT!(extra cables adaptors at work vs car charger vs power packs!) That's how bad it is. This obsession with making it thin has compromised on the battery life. Moron's at Apple need to be reminded that battery life is probably the most important aspect of such products. The single most factor in the success of the iPad!

Next time Jony Ive is being effusive about how he had to think different to make the iPhone 6 even thinner.. I am jumping ship!

I regret selling my 4S!! The best phone ever made!

1 - "The iPhone screen is too small by today's standards" who sets these standards anyway ?, Samsung's adds maybe, certainly not users, apart from a few kids who game all the time, they are not the biggest market. if you fly a lot, even to other countries, start doing a simple spot the device game, you feel embarrassed for anyone using android.
Depending on what you use your Phone for, a larger screen is VERY nice to have. As an example, I often receive Drafts as PDF files and they are much easier to read on a device that is a bit wider than the current iPhone. But that is just me YMMV

2 - Mutlitasking on a mobile devise is yet another marketing thing which has no meaningful use in real life
Let me correct you there: "...another marketing thing which has no meaningful use in my life" I would love to be able to view data in a spreadsheet while writing up the summary in a Textdocument. (currently I often use my iPad to view the Data and my iPhone to write...but that is more then uncomfortable)

3 - Memory, this is a PC world paradigm not relevant to the mobile space unless your OS is a dog...oh wait
Are you seriously trying to tell us that system memory is irrelevant for a mobile device. Considering the broad range of serious applications already available (not even mentioning the planed ones) I feel rather confident to say that your statement is compareable to the famous "640k"-Statement by Bill Gates...but if you still do not believe me: iPad 1 256MB RAM (2010), iPad 2 512MB RAM (2011), "New iPad" 1024 MB RAM (2012)... see the trend there?

The bumhurt is strong in this thread. I think some need to unbutton their skinny jeans

i dont know who samsung hired to do her commercials but attacking your opponent directly is never a smart thing to do.

you are just making it too obvious that you are wary of apple.
