While iOS 7 wasn't the groundbreaking change one could have hoped for and it is doubtful iOS 8 will see a major redesign, it is still far better than any version of Android I have seen. Android offers a few things but most, if not all of the execution and implementation is awful.

The one constant in almost every Samsung ad I've seen is, these ads portray the world the way Samsung WISHES it were.

"I'm a Mac" worked because the PC character was by far the more likeable, even lovable guy. Samsung needs an affectionate dig at Apple to be truly effective and penetrate, not a nasty fiction.

The Mac vs PC ads also worked because they weren't specifically attacking one manufacturer or naming any, for that matter, whereas Samsung are. Always reeks a bit of desperation when a manufacturer has to resort to that.

It is so sad that Samsung would make commercials like this. Embarrassing isn't the right word word!
The interaction with these people is so fun**** fake it hurts.

If you want to attach a keyboard case to your tablet, why not just get an ultra book?

Because you also want a tablet? I don't mean to make that sound so stupidly simple, but it always confuses me when people don't get that point.

It's not so much that Android is the problem, it's the rubbish that the phone manufacturers slap on top (e.g. TouchWiz). I gather Samsung are wanting to move away from Android with their own development, although they'll still undoubtedly slap TouchWiz on top...

When all you can do is make cheap copies of other companies' products, bash away because it's all you've got.

I'll add that I have owned ONE Samsung product in my life and it will be my last. It was a printer that was a cheap copy, did not perform well and supplies dried up after about six months. That was ok because the printer failed at 8 months. I buy the real thing, pay the real money and am real happy.

Haha talk about bashing Samsung just so you think the crowd will accept you more... How on earth is a Samsung printer a cheap copy.. of what exactly?.. it mite be less expensive than other printers but jeez.. talk about scraping the barrel with samsung put downs...

" the retina thingy" is actually quite a funny line.. #

Just two days I sent my girlfriend an email during a Facetime video call.
On an iPad 2.

Yes, the video was blacked out during the duration of me hanging around in the mail.app, but voice was still transmitted.

Samsung has neither shame nor taste!

Who gives a ***** about a small difference in screen resolution. Last time I checked, most people's eyes are not that sharp. Give it up Samsung

Ha, the patronising smile at the end did get me laughing.

Let's be honest, it is cute that we all use the word retina to describe displays with high pixel densities.

It's a fun advert. Lighten up.

Remember the Mac vs PC ads? Same thing.

Also, competition is good, people. Apple has more reason to innovate/produce better products when they have competitors doing things (ex. here's hoping the next iPad can have two apps side by side).

The Mac vs PC ads were actually clever, while providing real points of differentiation between the two platforms. Most of them, anyway. This Samsung ad doesn't even make valid points; it's just snark and negativity.

The only "point" Samsung has is that iOS can't do split-screen multitasking, but what they don't say is that the iPad guy could have gone to look at his report in another app without losing the call (assuming they were on a FaceTime call). Plus, I've heard that MultiView is pretty inconsistent. So the ad just strikes me as desperate, not confident.

I just laugh at these commercials, and pity people who base their decisions solely on these ads.

No one forgot. Do you know the difference between trashy and classy?

Yeah, we know. When Apple does it, it's "classy". When any other company on Earth does it, it's "trashy"... Apple's products are "elegant, magical, delicious, and tasty" - - - - everyone else makes "crappy" products...

By the way, what are you buying "Tim" and "Jony" for their Birthday's this year???

It wouldn't be bad if Samsung just focused on themselves like Apple's ads are now. Samsung could easily create an ad showing the strengths of their product. By constantly putting down the competition's customers and creating ads like these it just shows that Samsung's product is very weak and can't make it on it's own merit.
...or maybe it's pulling the mask off the absurdity demonstrated by those who blindly follow Apple. Please note that I'm not inferring that all who buy Apple products do so out of blind loyalty. But there is some segment of Apple customers who are. We all probably know one or two of them.

So when a Samsung ad takes a jab at people standing in line for days simply to buy a smartphone going ga-ga over the most simplest of things, it is attempting to differentiate themselves from Apple. Customer loyalty is something that Apple currently excels at. That is where Samsung is poking at.

Ads are just that, ads. Every company paints their products in a superior light, even if it means redefining terms so that their product is "superior". As objective as we like to think we are, our personal bias influences how we view "truth in advertising".

PC isn't a "brand". Its an open windows based platform. Apple differentiated itself on an platform or ecosystem basis with that campaign. Samsung has targeted specific brands, and in the process insulted the intelligence of potential customers. Not smart.

Samsung PR must be a nightmare. smh

I don't get what you are saying here. You are splitting hairs with semantics. PC is synonymous with Windows, and Apple has no hardware vendors. Mac vs. PC, Mac vs. Windows, same crap, sure Apple is targeting PC users, Windows users, whichever semantic description makes you feel better.

Can we please throw out this ridiculous assertion that the Mac vs. PC ads were in some way more altruistic or less denigrating to their target? It's hypocritical at best, and very thinly veiled hypocrisy at that. I'm NOT taking an ethical stance here, I saw the ads for what they were but I personally was not insulted because I could see the deception in the mac vs. pc ads, but then on these forums we are probably more tech savvy than most consumers.

good

I think this is perfectly legitimate on Samsung's part. It's exactly the kind of thing Apple "used" to do with their commercials. Very effective. I'm not a Samsung fanboy but fair is fair and gotta give them props when called for.

Lol, so we went from another posters comparing the ads as "classy" versus "trashy", and now we get "clever" and "snark". I think we need to start a list of all the words to describe each ad.
