First I wish to state that just because I am going to slate Samsung and defend Apple that does not mean I am an Isheep or Apple Fanboy. I simply go where the tech takes me.

This is a lot like that scene in Talladega Nights:
Mr. Dennit: Ricky, your little obscene gesture is going to cost you 100 points. Do you know how much that costs us in sponsorship dollars?
Ricky: With all due respect, Mr. Dennit, I had no idea you'd gotten experimental surgery to have your balls removed.
Mr. Dennit: What did you just say to me?
Ricky: What? I said it with all due respect!
Mr. Dennit: Just because you say that doesn't mean you get to say whatever you want to say to me!
Ricky: It sure as hell does!
Mr. Dennit: No, it doesn't--
Ricky: It's in the Geneva Conventions, look it up!

I'm not a Samsung "fan," but I don't see anything obscene or rude about these ads, as you claimed. You named some brands that don't do much comparative advertising. There are a ton of brands that do comparative advertising—and do it well. Apple's own ads were an example.

Such a depressing ad. Sends the message that all samsung users care about is having the best specs and coming out on top of the pecking order so they can bash on their friends.

You've failed when your marketing messages are all about bashing the competition. Because it demonstrates you have nothing positive to say about your own products in any great detail.

I'll be surprised if Samsung are still around in a year. They look finished to me. Totally devoid of any ideas beyond copying from the competition and doing it badly.

Really? You'll be surprised in a year if Samsung is still around.

Umm... Ok.....

Are you freaking kidding me? The company has been around since 1938. Their market cap is $174 billion. You really will be surprised if they're "around in a year"? I thought the comments in this thread were overblown already, but this one takes the cake.

You learned that from Mrs. Kane, didn't you?

People **** up (like Mrs. Kane with her book, Samsung with its adverts), others complain, and then comes the killer argument "Samsung has hit a few nerves". No, Samsung hasn't hit any nerves. They just created a nasty, annoying and ineffective advertisement.

Seems like they hit some nerves to me. Hehe, 70% of these forums are apple users responding to something that hit a nerve. :p

Yeah, I have to agree. And with advertising, it's usually the case that buzz is a good thing. Well played, Samsung.

I don't know if these will sell any devices, but they are well done and kind of funny ads. The Surface jab is funny. The multi-task issues with iOS is a limitation in certain circumstances. Now the pixel jab is just ridiculous because both products are well past the level where adding pixels makes any real improvement. But the whole ad is funny.

If you really want multitasking, get a MacBook Air. So many people try to turn their tablet into a real computer. Just get a real computer.

It was $200 billion just over a year ago. It's falling fast much like their relevance in the mobile space. Desperate ads like this one just add more fuel to the burning fire at Samsung that threatens to engulf the entire corporation.

Uhh...why? And why do you see the need to dictate to other people how they use their devices? Is it so inherently wrong that people might want a device that doesn't weigh a few pounds and can multitask?

That's a non-argument. Apple's market cap used to exceed $500B. By your logic, since Apple's market cap has shrunk more than Samsung's.

Market cap is subject to the whims of the market, so comparing the numbers is actually pointless. The point of my post was and is that claiming a $175B company won't be around in a year reveals a shocking amount of ignorance.

You're clearly so blinded by your love for Apple that it's apparently affected your entire world view. That's scary. You should probably get out a little. Or just take the "tudetto" out of your user name.

Interesting and fair comparison. I feel much more informed now about the choices in the tablet market than I was before viewing this advertisement.

I think I'll get an iPad and a Kindle now.

You ought to quit. There's no use continuing posting nonsense and embarrassing yourself in front of the entire world .

Apple is no stranger to negative advertising, it's kind of what underdogs do apparently in the US.

Interesting to see that they don't fully leave behind spec comparisons (screen resolution), though most of the criticism appears to be on usage options. Which is much more relevant.

So now they are basing all their rivals in the tablet market... and the iPad still rules the market and is the one most people want to buy.

Maybe this is why Apple is switching manufacturers, probably along with the fact that SamDung is a terrible company.

Im sensing nerves from that response :D Ad cant be THAT ineffective with a response like yours. Sure they might be annoying etc but getting people to react in any way, is working effectively for them. People are acknowledging their products by viewing the ad and interacting with the buzz.

This thread is like Oscars Pt 2 :D

yea, microsoft, too, should be gone by December.

"Terrible" by what metrics? Overall they're one of the most successful consumer electronics companies on the planet. They make a whole bunch of pretty great products.

I notice that you, too, failed to understand what a change in market cap actually means.

...that's generated a 15 page (and growing) thread full of people talking back and forth about something that apparently doesn't bother anyone in the least.

If everyone here really didn't care as much as they claim they don't care, this thread would've sunk to the bottom of page 1 within an hour of it's initial posting.

And dont know who Mrs Cane is

She wrote a book painting Post-Job's Apple in a negative light. It was sick filth that should be banned from bookstores and burned in bonfires.

Yeah, we've been here before. Kind of dull really. Nothing compelling. Really don't see what the fuss is about.
