When will companies learn that blatantly calling out a specific product and deriding it to make your product *appear* better, is not "marketing", it's what insecure people do to hurt people because of THEIR issues... and it seems Samsung has adopted this highly flawed emotional response to the market leading tablet, to drive product sales...

If Apple products "just work" why do I have to use two (!) third party apps (Smooth Mouse and BetterTouchTool) to have basic 5-button mouse functionality that works natively and perfectly in Windows?

It's the year 2014 and Apple still can't drive a mouse properly. B-b-b-but Apple products just work...

Saying Apple products 'Just Work' might be a big statement, but your argument is weak!

Why would you use a 5 - button mouse with Apple OS!? It doesn't work because its not designed for it. Apple is always about simplicity, the first Mac only have 1 button mouse. Now-a-days it requires 2 because OS has become more complex. But its still nothing like Windows where you would want 5 button mouse!

You can't ask why it doesn't work when it was not designed for it. It's like asking why my MacBook doesn't tidy my room for me. Which I got to go do now. :)

Haha, this is funny. I use both apple and android and windows devices. Got an iPad Air, Galaxy Note 3 and a Surface RT(Too slow!!! Surface 2 is good though.)

But anyways these commercials are funny. I believe apple just had a recently passive/aggressive commercial where they show that their phone can be used with one thumb kind of jabbing bigger phones and yet apple is supposedly making a bigger phone hahahaha.

Anyways my favorite commercial is still the windows phone one for the Lumia 1020 where people are at a school play and old ladies were throwing head butts and that one dude rips off his shirt and there is an apple tattooed on his chest hahahaha. I still get a good laugh at that one. Well, that is what is going on in here right now!

IMHO, if you cannot laugh about both sets of ads, then you need to take a deep look at where your personal identity comes from.

Classic!! Why would you use cut and paste with Apple OS!? Why would you use multi tasking with Apple OS!? Why would you use a notification pane with Apple OS!?

I think people have been asking intelligent questions like this since iOS came out.

Because that's the way your post came across to me. I might be extra sensitive though, having daughters who are quite comfortable with tech. If that's not what you meant, I apologize.

These people had tablets with them, which wouldn't be unusual these days in place of a book. In many parts of the world, it's also common to strike up a conversation, and someone might easily say, "That's a nice picture on your tablet".

Now, as to whether or not it actually has a nicer picture, that's a different topic.

A common misconception.

"Retina" does NOT mean you can no longer see the pixels at all. That only occurs past a certain distance depending on the display PPI, and even then only if you have average or worse eyes.

For example, at 12", it requires 300 ppi. At 6", it takes almost 600 ppi to be a "retina" display.

I have a daughter too. Retina does mean you no longer see pixels at all because your eye can't resolve them. This is all dependent on the typical viewing distance. If you're holding your iPad 6" from your face then sorry, you're doing it wrong.

Isnt that Apples usual response?! :p

Ok, too many people answering my comment at the same time. It's my fault, the comment was too opinionated and too long. I do apologize.

It's just an opinion. Some people, including myself, find the Mac vs. PC ads quite tasteLESS and the opposite of classy.

I agree 100%. It is just an opinion. Which means I don't even want to try to impose my point of view on you guys. That was not my intention. I am sorry if I made my comments sound like a debate.

Ok, I have to say, most people, including myself, could not care less about the Retina display. You can barely see the difference between the iPad 2 and iPad 3. And I have seen the two side-by-side. You barely notice the difference, and if you do, you go "I see it, I see it!" like it's a big deal. It's really for those that want to say 'I have a retina display' or for those who work with photography or graphics and can actually see the difference.

It's funny to read all you fan boy's and girls comments about Samsung is garbage then I have 2 things you might not know. Do you like apples???

1) if you think Samsung is wack, why is Apple using Samsung A7 processors, Samsung memory and Samsung screens on all there Iphones and ipads!!! Oops did I say that out loud. Sorry :(

2) Apple is bleeding customers in a crazy way. I don't think Apple corporate is feeling your way.

How do you like them apples!!!!!

You can't be serious - or, you have serious vision problems.

The difference between the iPad2 and 3 screens is night and day (for anyone with decent eyesight). There is simply no comparison.

This, however, doesn't mean the elevated dpi of the Samsung tabs would be useful - the dpi of the Retina iPads is sufficient. As I've pointed out above, it's not because of the higher dpi that Samsung screens are vastly superior to at least the Retina Mini screens (but not the Air / iPad3/4 ones): color gamut. In which rMini's suck really hard.

It's all good! :) I also agree about retina display, it's just marketing hype. I think where you notice a slight difference is in text, but what's funny is that Windows tablets accomplish this with much lower resolution with their clear type technology. I can zoom in on text as far as I want and won't see a pixel.

I really like the iPad, and I like the Samsung tablets, as I have owned both. I must say that Samsung gives owners more control of their device. I would go back to the iPad if they put a SD card slot on the device and unlock the OS. A 12 or 13" version would be nice as well. I just got tired of the iPad, the tablet for dummies, and that's what it felt like.

The ad was fine. This is nothing more than a case of competition. I personally hope Apple loses big against this line of tablets, so they will start innovating instead of sitting on their laurels.

True. Also true: grass is green and the sky is blue. Are we just stating random facts now?

My leg is connected to my pelvis... and, whilst we're on the subject, a banana is a naturally yellow fruit.

Random? Macrumors? preposterous notion!

PS: My eyeballs have retina techology.

PPS: I've just been out for a cold walk. Yep...

Except that such marketing has been proven in study after study to be effective since the 1950s.

Are the surface chargers really that bulky? Like a laptop? I was starting to think they looked pretty good, but that's a huge limitation.

They are. Plus i always niggled with the magnetic charger. I could never get it on with one take, NEVER.

Another reason MS screwed up not releasing an Atom surface. My windows tablet (atom) charger is just as small as any android/apple tablet's charger.
