I think the important thing to remember is Samsung are manufacturing the A9, they did not design it.

And the codependent relationship continues.

Apple needs Samsung to make its chips.

Samsung needs Apple to come up with all its successful ideas.

And a month from now we'll get a rumor that says just the opposite.

It's a matter of supply chain management.

It seems that the fanbois get all worked up about advertising, and that hurts their ability to see objectively what the bottom line is.

Steve didn't help with the flipping off picture at IBM, but the thing is that going all "win at all costs" may be spiting your face by cutting off your nose.

Sucks for people that swore to never buy a Samsung product again.
Anybody who says that is ignorant. Not only does Samsung make a lot more than just smartphones & tablets, they're also fundamentally a different company from Apple in that they're a manufacturer. Apple is primarily software & marketing.

soooooo... those iPhones and iMacs just make themselves? I don't buy Pages, or iMovie, I also don't buy OSX nor iOS upgrades? I keep buying Apple hardware, Not Apple software so wouldn't that make Apple primarily a Hardware Manufacturer? Granted they do only run their own software but they give that stuff away.

Huh. So, Samsung is basically supplying the weapons of its own demise to its chief rival.

Samsung is in a great spot, they supply the resources, even if their recent phone sales are in the tank they are still making $.

This reminds me of a quote from Godfather III .

"Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in."

- Michael Corleone

UGH... was hoping Apple would finally divorce from Samsung but I suppose they know what they're doing.

:apple:

Get ready for the childish Samsung haters to be writing more "down with Samsung" on their Samsung powered iOS devices.

Although not a shocker, I continue to be amazed that no one seems to be able to scale the way Samsung does. Therefore Apple continues to "sleep with the enemy."

I've slept with the enemy. Unfortunately I also worked with her and when I dumped her she became a stalker. I ended up moving several hundred miles away to get away from her. Harder to do when you are a global company.

So many levels of irony...

Oh well, at least we know Samsung is able to produce Apple's A chips.

Irony? What irony? Apple choosing Samsung is basically saying "WE ARE TAKING THE HIGH ROAD AND GIVING YOU BUSINESS REGARDLESS OF YOUR LOW LEVEL SALES SHENANIGANS AGAINST US".

Samsung does need Apple but not for the reasons expressed here.

Samsung Electronics has rapidly decreasing profits as its dominant handset business shifts increasingly to commodity phones with low margins.

The need for Samsung to capitalize its investments in foundries is intense. Landing Apple as an increasingly large customer for A8 and A9 chips is a major win for Samsung to assure its capital recovery, whatever the margins. Apple presses vendor margins so it can maintain its own.

It succeeds.

Oh dear lord. Do you have any idea how big Samsung is? Apple hasn't got the kind of leverage with Samsung that they had with a tiny little company like GT. There is most assuredly not the same kind of "you will take this deal and love it" dictation of terms. Samsung is more than big enough to say "Ha, piss off."

Even Samsung isn't THAT stupid. Their profits are tumbling to the ground on the mobile side. They're MORE than happy to work with Apple. They'd be stupid not to.

Apple is a smart company no matter what people here and their may think! I can just imagine with an extra billion dollar to spend, we should see more slam video's for all current and future Apple products! Great!!!!?
