Thats so stupid, why would you check the time and other notifications on the side when you can just turn the phone on and see it on the full screen?? And also, its called putting you phone face up! Samsung copies apple so much, samsung pay, now an all aluminum design which apple has been doing for 3 years now! Samsung is just desperate for customers!

I have the edge.. and the purpose is to get a quick glance at your notifications without disturbing others around you or looking to be into your phone too much. I don't use the edge stuff that much, but at least it's a little innovative unlike the iPhone, which besides being thinner and bigger is mostly the same as the 5 and 5S

Can understand why S6 sales is a disaster.

Battery life is terrible with idle at 42% only after a few days, only 5 hours screen-on-time running heavy gaming benchmarks, not a fan of the sparkly platinum gold look over the painted on gold and it's not much faster, maybe 35%, with all those cores. Don't think the store will take it back though since it's selling so poorly.

I disagree with that.. when using the Camera and Video recording, the battery goes down quickly but not in average daily use. I get 15 hours of average daily use on my S6 edge (texting, social media, email, browsing)

Apple (namely Tim) took shots at an Android at last years WWDC. And Phil Schiller is forever throwing shots at the competition. So yeah the "bashing the competition" thing is not a Samsung or Android thing. Apple is just as guilty of doing that as other companies. Like I've said before, if Samsung's Note 4 had suffered from Bendgate...do you honestly think Apple (and especially Schiller) wouldn't have had something to say? You honestly think if Sammy's GS6 would've been bending that the Apple fans wouldn't have been laughing and making jokes?

(This isn't directed at you, necessarily)

But I love how some Apple fans are always like "man Samsung is always talking trash about Apple...Android fans are always making fun of iPhones and Apple..." Yet those same Apple fans have no problem doing the exact same thing to Android and Samsung fans. How many times have Apple fans on this site said "The GS6 sucks, it's not selling well hahahahahaa" But yet as soon as somebody says something about Bendgate then those same Apple fans get their feelings hurt and get all mad.

Samsung taking shots at Apple is considered to be wrong but again if Apple does it to them, then it's the coolest thing ever. I've said it once and I'll say it again, some of yall need to keep it 100.

not even Android. they continued their Windows 8 adoption bs at this year's event. of course OSX would have the fastest adoption ever, it's a free update for ANYONE with a Mac. Plus Windows has 92PCT market share, so percentages mean nothing. How about the fact that more people use Windows 8/8.1 than ALL OSX Versions combined?

Plus Windows 10 will be FREE for all 7-8 users. So let's see how those adoption numbers look at WWDC 2016.

The question is, are they still making these silly commercials?
WWDC is essentially an insider meet and not a public advertising.

It's still a large scale event, is it not? Whether it's a commercial or not, Apple still has no problem taking shots at the competition. Apple has also taken shots at android and different android manufactures at iPhone events too. And different people from Apple have also done interviews where they've taken shots at android.

So for all those people here who are like "Apple is so above bashing anybody/Apple doesn't have to mention competition b/c they're so above and better than everybody" I look at them and laugh at the sheer hypocrisy.

Here is a more currant article.

http://www.wsj.com/articles/samsung...e-6-1433235482?mod=WSJ_article_EditorsPicks_4

sales for the s6 stalled after 6 million units, they couldn't even sell out of their initial inventory.

From this point forward, Samsung will have to start introducing s6 derivatives, such as an s6 active, s6 plus, s6 mini, s6 neo, etc. to give the media and investors the perception of increased s6 sales.

btw, according to the article note 4 sales have tanked by as much as 40% as well.

Oh yeah Samsung, release more phones! That plan has never worked, but this time it will! *sarcasm*

What's even funnier here in Singapore is that the S6 has flopped so hard here, thus the off-contract price has dropped so much to the point it makes ZERO sense to sign a contract for any Samsung phone. I can count the number of S6/S6 edges I seen in public so far with one hand, but if I got a dollar for everytime I see a iPhone 6 I would be a rich man.

Taken shot at an internal meeting, and interview is the same as making a commercial to openly mock the competition?

At the end of the day, both are taking shots at each other. Again, if Samsung's GS6 or Note 4 had suffered from bendgate do you honestly think Apple wouldn't have taken advantage of that? Do you honestly think this site wouldn't have been full of people laughing at Sammy and cyber high fiving each other b/c Apple just mocked Samsung? Again, please stop trying to paint Apple as this innocent company who doesn't do the exact same tactics that many on here bash Samsung for.

Apple makes fun of competition. They've done it in several iPhone launches, which are worldwide events that are seen by a lot of people. Regardless if it's an ad, worldwide product launch, tweet, interview, ect...the company does mock and poke fun at other products and companies, much to delight of the same Apple fans who bash Samsung for doing the same thing. Apple also copies ideas too. All of these companies do this.

Apple wouldn't have made an ad to take shot at bendgate. Apple did have the childish behavior back in the days, but are they still openly mocking them to the general public in ads? Those iPhone launches are still by invitation only unlike a TV, youtube, or newspaper ad.

And let's not forget the alignment issues with the holes and ports on the S6 and S6 Edge. It's really something that cannot be unseen once it's seen. Shows difference in the level of engineering put into the S6 and the iPhone 6.
I totally agree with you. I hope people actually perceive this difference because it shows how far Apple is willing to take design.

These iPhone launch events are still shown around the world to millions of people. It's not like only 8 people see the unveiling of the iPhone. Its a worldwide thing. And if Samsung's flagship phones had suffered from bendgate, Apple would've poked fun. Whether it be an ad, a snide little comment from Schiller, or Tim Cook saying something at an iPhone event, apple would've had something to say...much to the delight of Apple fans all over the world.

Samsung, why cant you just go on about doing your own thing? Like seriously, its getting real silly now! Its not like this ad is gonna make me change my mind. In fact, its gonna make me root for Apple even more.
Doing their own thing? Well, that's what they do. They have a superior product and they market it as best as they can. Remember the PC vs MAC ads? It's the same thing.

The same argument...
Those are invitations ONLY events, unlike an ad.
Is that so complicated?

Well to be fair they copy each other. Apple have copied various android features and were very late to the party with large screened devices. I think the edge is a very nice concept, I think it was better in terms of functionally on the note edge but not as aesthetically pleasing as on the S6 edge. I think Samsung and other android OEMS have a lot of cool ideas but some are half baked and lack quality in other areas. In the past I always gave them a pass as they had the large high def screen, removable battery and expandable memory. However these advantages were minimised with the release of the 6 plus with its large high def screen, excellent battery life and 128GB of onboard storage. Samsung killed off any interest I might have had in them with the design changes implemented in the S6. It doesn't have an edge anymore and this is why I'll be staying with the iPhone for a while yet.

And Ad and iPhone event are seen by millions of people all over the world. Is that so hard to understand? Again, Apple isn't innocent.

An ad is not an invitation only event. People can see it even if they don't want to. The iPhone event is an invitation only and people will not see it if they decided not to.

Samsung are really on the ball. Sure they copy some features, but there is some forward thinking. A wide angle lens on the front facing camera? That's a really neat idea! Whereas Apple have been a little stale the past couple of years (though the fingerprint unlock feature on iPhone 5S+ is my favourite innovation).

I couldn't use Android as an OS though but I do have envy at the tech in those phones. I'd like Apple to push a little more.

It's still a worldwide event, that's seen and discussed and posted all over the world. If Apple decides to bash android or samsung or any other OS or company (which they've done before) a lot of people are going to hear about and see it. A lot of people will see it. And the same ones here bashing Samsung for making fun of Apple, would be giving Apple praise for doing the same thing to Samsung. If an Ad is made, a lot of people are going to hear and/or see it. Again, both Samsung, Apple, Microsoft among others have poked fun and the competition before.

Whether it be an ad, tweet, huge press conference, product launch seen by millions, or a simple Facebook post...they've all done it. It doesn't matter if it's an official ad or something as simple as a tweet, you're still portraying this idea that "company A" is inferior to "Company B" because of whatever reason. That idea is still thrust onto the public. Some buy into it, some don't. Again, Apple is not innocent.

What is a little silly is that you still have to take your phone to a pad thats plugged into the wall and you have to leave it there while its charging. At least with the wire you can pick it up and make a call and its still charging.

I'm calling 'gimmick' on wireless charging until it does it from 12 feet away!

Wireless charging is only cool because of the "StarTrek" syndrome people get with electronics. Look it's magic!! When in reality it's actually less user friendly!

Wait, weren't there several independent tests that showed the S6 bends easier?
