The real difference is that Apple's video talks about all the unique things they've done with the product, whereas everything Samsung mentions is just basic industry-standard stuff.

"Aircraft grade aluminum"? That's not special, that's common. "We drill with diamonds" Yeah so does every other electronics manufacturer in the world. "We measure in nanometers" I certainly hope so, otherwise your components aren't going to fit together.

This is going too far! It's so funny, it kinda looks like a parody video..

Desparate and too funny.

Heh, they may measure in nanometers but in the end do not have the eye and design skills to arrange external case elements in a pleasing manner.

You can't pretend that this is minor. We all know if the shoe was on the other foot and Apple was slavishly copying Samsung like this, Apple wouldn't just be "doomed"... they'd be declared dead and all the trolls on this forum would be spitting on their grave! Much like how the iPhone 6 bending was yet another sign of Apple's declining quality... until the S6 Edge was shown to bend as well, at which point smartphones bending was magically a non-issue. Never mind Samsung actually made an ad bashing the iPhone 6 for bending, and claimed that the S6 and S6 Edge won't bend.
I'll be the first to admit that Samsung is shameless in how they did their commercial. But, you win the thread, hands down, for taking this to an emotional level that is really beyond anything reasonable and mature. The way you describe "the trolls on this forum spitting on Apple's grave" makes it very difficult to take anything seriously on this forum anymore. In fact, it's pretty much downright comical and provided a good laugh tonight. So thanks :)

What? That's a pretty common figure of speech. It means rubbing something in someone's face. There's nothing dramatic about that at all.

I think you're overreacting.

It was your entire post, but that sentence was just a funny example. Read your entire post. Like I said, thanks for the laugh. :apple:

Not sure why you think I'm pretending. There is nothing major about this. As a matter of fact, I can pretty much guarantee by Tuesday, nothing about this ad will be mentioned again on MR... by anyone, including you.;)

Anyone paying attention to a forum member claiming doom deserves to be ridiculed. Whether it's said by an Apple fan being ironic (99% of the doomed posts on MR fit this category) or someone genuinely claiming doom, it's still stoopid and useless. As useless as hair pulling over an ad that will be forgotten quickly. Not that it matters but Samsung didn't release an ad saying the S6 and S6 Edge won't bend. They did release an ad that said the Note 4 won't bend. An EVP said the phones won't bend at the phones' introduction. Not an ad. He was 1 for 2. The Edge bent and the S6 didn't:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3rF6B4qBvg Again, none of it matters but if we're going to rant let's at least rant about the right thing.:D

It's an ad. Breathe man. It ain't that crucial.

edit: /reads headguy's quote. Giggles
Sorry man. theheadguy is right. Hyperbole is not your friend.

At this point it's just noise. Let them copy. It's the flavor of the week and Samsung will just keep trying because they don't even know what they like. That's their problem.

Samsung's headphone jack is on the bottom now.

At least you're up to the S3 and 2012. Speaking of 2012, do you remember this? The thumb ad? Now can we all agree this is stupid?

Indeed, it's quite funny how some people give Samsung a pass for everything while scrutinizing everything Apple does under a microscope.

The reason why people ironically make the "doomed" comment is because people make that comment in a serious manner all the time around here. They just don't actually use the word "doomed" anymore because they know how ridiculous it sounds. But every time even the smallest thing comes up about a minor glitch in an Apple product, dozens of people rush in to point out how Tim Cook is incompetent, people are going to stop buying Apple products, Apple is going downhill, etc. You don't actually have to use the word "doomed" to convey the exact same sentiment.

And sorry for the poor wording, I know that Samsung never made an ad about the S6/Edge not bending- I was referring to those same comments made at the phone's introduction. And really, is it worth pointing out that one of the two phones didn't bend? As if that somehow makes his premature statement any better? Again, Apple got skewered for a small percentage of their phones bending, yet as you demonstrate, when Samsung has the same problem it gets downplayed.

The only reason why I'm commenting about this in the first place is because I know tons of people would be fuming if Apple did the same thing that Samsung did with this video. Anybody who would dare to say "it ain't that crucial" would be sharply ridiculed. Yes, I agree that the ad itself is minor in the grand scheme of things. But only because the shoe is on Samsung's foot and not Apple's.

"... Carving from blocks of aerospace-grade aluminum, ..."

The person speaking is just trying to mimic an English accent. Samsung just HAS to copy everything Apple does... down to design videos, and the accent.

You realise that's the proper way of spelling aluminium?

I don't know... sounds to me like you might be the one getting a little emotional over a fairly benign comment.

Ive has such an annoying voice with the ultra-calm tones and extra long pauses. When I watch one of his videos I always think, speak a bit faster you could convey that information in half the time. Actually one thing that puts me off Apple is their infomercials made for 6 year olds.

I like playing apple videos back at 1.25 to 2 times speed, sounds like a normal person speaking and you get through it faster.

Here's the problem with your argument. You're taking criticism that comes mainly from Apple fans (and you know this is true) and transferring their complaints to Samsung to bolster your argument. It doesn't work that way.

And sorry for the poor wording, I know that Samsung never made an ad about the S6/Edge not bending- I was referring to those same comments made at the phone's introduction. You have nothing to be sorry about bud. It's called passion. I think it's misplaced on this topic but hey, you care. Can't fault a man for that. It just seems that you're bundling a lot of different frustrations into this one issue when those frustrations would be better addressed individually. I'm not downplaying Samsung's phone issue. I am presenting the entire picture. The EVP spoke about 2 phones. Should I have only mentioned the one phone that bent because it supports your position? That's a little disingenuous isn't it?

Be honest with yourself. Do you really think this is true? Or is it more likely that if Apple copied the style of a Samsung ad, most likely, no one would even know? Samsung makes tons of ads. The only ones that get notice on this forum are Apple related, some directly, some tangentially. The vast majority have nothing to do with Apple. Here's one of their best. Not only is it one of their best, it's one of the best ads I've seen in a really long time.
Warning: Your eyes will get misty. Not kidding - misty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrvaSqN76h4 You've been warned.:D

Desperate attempt to change topic noted.

How so? You presented a pic from 2012 showing Samsung making light of the headphone jack on the bottom. Fast forward, they now have the headphone on the bottom. Ironic? Some would say yes. I would say so what, they changed their mind. I presented a pic from 2012 showing Apple implying iPhone was the right size because the thumb can reach the corner of the phone. Fast forward, they now have phones where, for most people, that's not possible. Just like Samsung. Ironic? Some would say yes. I would say so what, they changed their mind.

I said it's all stupid. That's been my point from post 1.

Again please tell me how I changed the topic.
