Why not? The delay seems amicable.

I agree. Claiming either side as right or wrong would be premature. What we do know is that both have agreed to these terms, so it isn't entirely Apple's or Samsung's fault.

Didn't see this coming. Not like Samsung's constantly pushing the line of too-far-ness in terms of copying with every product they release.

Just to make it clear, I'm not an Apple fanboy or anything, I'm actually probably going to buy the 10.1 for my dad as I think he'll prefer it to the iPad I got him recently, but I mean, look at the dock connectors for example!

I do like Samsung, I just wish they could keep going with products like the Galaxy S2 and actually take their own deviation off the path, instead of just mirroring Apple.

EDIT: Might even keep the 10.1 for myself. He has an android phone, so the iPad compliments it well - I think having an iPhone and the 10.1 myself works well too, perhaps.

Isn't it simply a PDMI connector? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDMI

EDIT: Here is a PDMI cable from a Streak.

Looks the same as my old Dell Streak's cable.

Apple > Samsung

iPad 2 > Galaxy Tab 10.1

Fanism aside I would say the Galaxy Tab is better.

Yeah the iPad has the app count.

But the reason I am getting an Android tablet is because of the widgets, it's the killer feature for me. I can understand no widgets on a 3.5 inch devices but 9.7? It's just unused spaced

And have you seen it's screen? It looks amazing!

Quite possibly, but then the graphic on that page I recognise as a cable I also have ( a third party iPod cable) so even then Samsung's still copied the aesthetics.

Grasping at the straws I see.

Nope, I included a photo in my original post because I was questioning the looks of the cable, not the format. Otherwise I'd have said "Oh my god they even copied Apple's cable interface!"

EDIT: Totally agree about the widgets though, thats one thing my dad doesn't like about his iPad so far, that and the lack of flash content and not being able to download youtube videos, for some reason this is important. But I wasn't aware that the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 was even out yet until I read this topic, otherwise I'd be buying one now.

Yes, the Dell and Belkin models come to mind. :) Have you seen any other PDMI connectors that look like the Apple and Samsung ones in my pic?

Perhaps the connector for the Dell Streak that ChazUK has posted?

And can you explain me why do you say the Samsung looks more like an Apple connector than others?

Look, you didn't know about PDMI. It's ok, no one is going to hate you for it. Just drop it, you were wrong in that instance.

Look at the UI. I fail to see any resemblance to the iPad. Honeycomb's UI has completely leapfrogged iOS and Apple can't compete.

Apple: When you can't innovate, litigate.

Well Chaz has now let us know that the Dell uses a similar one too. Put simply, its using the slim profile of the Apple connector in terms of design, thats all. I've seen other PDMI cables that are bulky, this Samsung one looks very similar to the Apple version (except for the colour and logo) and thats my point.

Nice, useful set of widgets on that Samsung homescreen.

Apple really needs to let the iPad have such things. It's got a much bigger battery than a phone, and its screen real estate should be used for more than a grid of static icons.

Not everyone finds Widgets Useful, and quite frankly Samsung needs to innovate their own hardware. (let's see the Silicon Architecture, eh)?

If they are smart they are working on The Galaxy Tab 11 Redesign. Cause it's not going anywhere as 10.1. :apple:

It's about what is under the Hood. Not the Color of the Paint. Despite all the talk of "Copy Cat". It's more about "Copy Cat" Architecture on Silicone, IMO, and Samsung knows what's going down.

Were not talking LCD TV's here people. :apple:

And you're wrong, as others have posted, any PDMI connector looks similar to Apple one

I disagree entirely.

Here's the Belkin version I mentioned earlier.

If you really think the Belkin model is as similar to the Apple one as the samsung is, you need an eye test.
It's obviously using the same interface but the actual design is quite different. Its bulky, it doesn't have the slim design of the apple connector.

Oh, c'mon people! There were tablets that looked exactly like the ipad BEFORE the ipad was even announced. Sure, they were not high-end tablets, but that does not really matter.

The iPad's design is NOT innovative. At all.

Now, if Samsung can not really do something that stands out and just follows Apple on their tail, it does not matter how many HDMI ports they add to it, its not gonna sell (as) well. I also think it does not make sense to make them stop sell it just because of the similar looks, thats absurd iMHO.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; de-de) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

that UI looks actually like something id expect in 2011 ;)

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, except in business, then it's just stealing.

Samsung is one of the more egregious second moving copy cat companies. Copying and manufacturing cheaper versions of better products doesn't do anything for consumers. If anything it leads to an innovation aversion.

Samsung makes some good products, but they're wrong for just how much their products are directly derived from Apple products.

Still you're wrong in you assumption that Samsung copied Apple with this connector, look at Dell, G2 tablet, etc
