The difference is Samsung will bundle the adaptor in the box rather than force users to buy it separately like Apple now do.

Why do you suggest they stop doing this? They made fun of Apple in what, 2016-2018? Now they're doing what they made fun of Apple for, and they'll stop making fun of them. In 2016-2018, they may have sold phones because of their ad campaign.

Do you really think the average joe consumer is gonna be like "wait a minute... didn't they make fun of Apple in 2016-2018 about the lack of a headphone jack?! Samsung sucks because of that!!"

No, they won't. No one even remembers that ad campaign. Samsung buyers will just complain about its lack of headphone jack like Apple users, Sony users, Huawei users, Xiaomi users, OnePlus users, etc.

The only people that would hold a grudge against a company based on an ad campaign their marketing team came up with in the past are people on forums like this. Whether that ad campaign was effective or not is irrelevant, but people aren't going to change their minds in 2019+ because of it.

What are you on about? The entire internet was making fun of Apple for removing the jack. Thousands of memes going on for months and months. Hell, years! Everyone remembers it.

Apple also bundled it for one generation. Let’s see next year if Samsung still bundles it.

Man, I knew this would eventually happen, but that happens so close to their annoying commercials last year about the “double dongle”. This is just funny. And this is their “pro” device.

Apple shipped the iPhone 7 with an adapter as well.
The 7 series did as well as the following year with the 8/8+/X.
They didn’t stop until the Xs/Max/R.

*Note - 8/8+/X does not ship with them now either. They removed them last September when they stopped shipping them in the XS/Max/R boxes. So 2 years they shipped it.

Bluetooth is so ubiquitous now, where I think the average consumer is perfectly fine with the sound quality that they put out.

Yeah... Plus most are already listening to compressed music anyway, even with wired headphones, so it's not like high fidelity sound is all that important to the general consumer.

I get that Bluetooth earbuds are pretty cheap and all, but Sometimes I’d like to use my wired headphones with no adapter so I can charge my phone at the same time without this weird dongle mess.
that literally makes no sense. they are wireless, you put your phone on the charger, and listen while walking around the house with your wireless headphones

To be fair, Samsung is just following the trend. Same with Apple when they start creating big screen iPhones. They used to say that 4 inch screen is the perfect screen. Look what we have now....

I think the industry disagrees with you. High fidelity is provided by Apple via AAC from its Music store, and Spotify delivers their version of high quality. Qualcomm provides aptx and aptx HD. All high end compressed formats today are better than CD quality. There are uncompressed formats available, but you have to claim to have uber hearing to even want to use those. (not having uber hearing myself, I am simply skeptical that people can actual discern a difference, those who claim uber hearing, well maybe they actually can)

Samsung innovation! bigger screens! and headphone jacks, well sort of.

demand must be low. Mine cam with an iPhone X and remain unused.

:(

What are me and my headphones going to do?

Looks like I'll have to snatch the Marshall phone with 2 headphone jacks.

Here's hoping at least the regular S line or e phones will keep the jack.

When the iPhone 7 was announced with no headphone jack I thought it was a bad idea because I’d use wired headphones a lot while charging, but then I simply upgraded to Bluetooth headphones and legitimately haven’t thought about the headphone jack since.

So many jokes here about Samsung removing headphone jack, yet Galaxy can do what iPhone still can’t: split screen for 2 apps side-by-side.

Lol, someone is here for a pissing match. It’s so old and anyone can bring up small things one does over the other at this point. How’s your phone compared to Apple’s A12? Still slower? K. How’s your “facial recognition” that is both slower and less secure than Face ID? Worse? K.

See? Anyone can do it and it’s still annoying.

if it’s that big of a deal to you, then take his loss and stick around. Apple will do something stupid in a minute and you can puff your chest there.

Have you seen the S10 Note renders its way too skinny to have a headphone jack. Read it and weep apple fan boys. We all use Blutooth anyway.

El Oh El. So now that’s a valid reason. Got it.

Also
Note 10: 7.9mm thick (PhoneArena Specs)
XS/XS Max: 7.7mm thick (Apple)

Awesome. I always wanted the ability to run two Fisher Price Android Apps side-by-side.

Guess I won't be buying myself a Note device this year. That's disappointing.

Don't worry, you're not alone. The Note isn't flying off the shelves - it's always been a niche product. Now even more so.

But Apple has removed the headphone jack not because HTC did, but because of the new edge to edge display on the new iPhone X ! Difference, yes!
The jack was removed from the 7, not X. Its purpose is to make us transition to wireless accessories.
