I gave it a few days at the bottom, but my brain refused to get used to it. As I always use 2 hands anyway I put myself out of my misery.

I appreciate the option of having the bar at the bottom. However, if what I type in it is a search term and the top hit is accurate in predicting what I want, I still have to reach to the top of the screen to tap it. The results should’ve been redesigned to take this into account.

There were numerous browsers on Android with address bars at the bottom for years now, and unlike iOS, Android permits different rendering engines. Samsung phones are in fact less restricted on this front.
so why it says that Samsung lets users? is not like samsung is a browser

Remember, this is the same company that decided to put a notch on the long side of their tablets (upcoming Galaxy tab S8). So when you're holding it portrait, you will have your thumb right on top of the camera, and it will block content on the screen...

I mean... why? Other than to just copy the notched Macbook Pros...

It’s actually pretty great. Make sense in this form factor. I get used to all gestures by now. And when the menu shrinks it does’t interfere with the content anymore like when the menu was on the top. People just doesn’t like change that doesn’t has much impact that’s all.

Wait. What? Doesn’t Samsung usually put out a commercial mocking Apple and its users for features like this BEFORE copying it?

If the industry copies from each other, we call it bad. If they don’t, we end up with jarring experiences and maybe incomplete experiences.

Why is it bad that others are also providing the option now? Timing be damned. Dan is just being unnecessarily dramatic. It’s a good thing that users get that choice and people should just call it what it is - Industry moving towards bottom-located URL bars again like the decade-old Windows Mobile did.

We could interact with Tiles on that Windows OS on mobile. Information would be dynamically updated. Like Apple’s Widgets now.

Ideas are always copied if they make sense. How they’re implemented makes all the difference and ultimately serves to advance us towards something.
It isn't bad. Its how everything works, but arm chair quarterbacks want to justify their economic decisions as the correct one and create needless barriers. Giving users choice of how they want to interact with their browser just makes sense. Why someone would say "Welp, Microsoft did it a decade ago, so we gotta keep the bar at the top forever" is ridiculous.

samsung copies apple. apple copies Samsung. its called competition, they have to keep up with each other. do people really still sit here arguing over who copied who?

this may be a dumb question, but if the address bar is at the bottom, where's the keyboard when you're typing? Higher up? One thing moves down and another moves up?

I tried the new address bar recently and I must say I like it. I like that it hides away when you scroll down and pops up when you scroll up. It's a lot easier to reach the url bar as well.

as the keyboard slides up it pushes the address bar up and sits on top of the keyboard...

When you press on the address bar, the keyboard will slide up

Why do people still care who had what first? If it's something good, it would be stupid not to integrate it as well and in the end the consumers will profit.
Because "Apple people" need affirmation that Apple is the best at innovation and everything else that exists is somehow a copy of something Apple invented, despite the fact that something like this isn't one of Apple's best ideas and most people don't like it. "Hey, Samsung copied this terrible idea from Apple".

I switched months ago from the Apple crap to the Samsung crap, only to face now the Apple crap on the Samsung crap. Crappy days are just ahead of us?

Address bar belongs at the bottom with these biga** stupid phones.
