so why it says that Samsung lets users? is not like samsung is a browser

That sounds like a question for the MacRumors editorial staff. Samsung has a browser it preloads on many of its devices which also support tens or hundreds of other browsers, so it’s a little strange to leave any mention of this browser out of the title.

this is amazing news for all 4 samsung mobile browser users

At least Samsung always gives many choices and continues to innovate their hardware and you guys sit their and enjoy their displays and do what you do best.

This article should not even be posted because it's simply a browser addition and I'm guessing like most of us, Apple devices have bored us this year so you need Sammy right now to give you interesting conversations. If we look at true History, Apple and Microsoft started stealing and copying before Samsung and continues to do so :D BTW, Apple should steal the entire Samsing browser because it does so much more better or at least Microsoft Edge.

Samsung: "Can't innovate my ..... oh, actually no, no we can't"
Come on - as others have already stated, Apple has not innovated here either. Most of the latest iOS concepts have been the base of the original Windows phone UX, and they were chosen because they made sense UX wise.

Widgets = live tiles

App Library = swipe from right on Windows phone to see all apps installed (Home Screen only had what you needed most frequently)

Address bar at the bottom because there it was close to your thumb and your hand would not cover the entire screen

It just shows that good ideas are not always enough to turn the tides. Microsoft as a company had (has) a bad reputation, the overall system was still too buggy and power hungry, and many did not like the Windows 8 design language and the squareness.

When finally it disappeared the choices left were iOS or Android. I liked Windows phone - it made sense, even though I also used iPads and iPods at the same time.
When finally I switched to iPhone, it bothered me (and still does) how inefficient the Home Screen is, Windows keyboard had all the languages I use with equally good spelling and swipe typing, whereas iOS only does it for the main languages, such as English, French, German …

And for someone like me, who is not into all kinds of apps, but makes heavy use of web, Mail, messaging in different languages, this was a huge setback. I still hate typing on iOS.

And last but not least I would love to switch off some of the transitions and animations, because they often make the system feel sluggish.

So no, Apple is far from a golden standard across the board and doesn’t innovate in all areas.

Remember, this is the same company that decided to put a notch on the long side of their tablets (upcoming Galaxy tab S8). So when you're holding it portrait, you will have your thumb right on top of the camera, and it will block content on the screen...

I mean... why? Other than to just copy the notched Macbook Pros...

Actually the MacBook pro would have been nice and amazing in the "Apple World" this way and would have been a nice way to go against Microsoft's surface. Just imagine this design with Apples "Surface Like Keyboard Type Cover" lol and being able to use both macoS and iOS on the same device with the Apple Pencil (never happening).

SIMPLY, WHAT ALL Apple users fantasize about but will not see for about 15 or 20 years and where is the touchscreen on the MacBook pro and all that other Sammy stuff that's on Sammy high end and low end tablets but not the iPad Pro. Apples pro devices seem no longer pro enough. Sure Samsung latest tablet is a semi laptop replacement with Android but it should have had chrome os on this thing instead but it will still be bought by me at least.

I don’t care who copies who. I care that once Apple implements a inevitable feature, that “Samsung had for years” Apple is a copycat and lacks innovation. Samsung will put ads out about all these terrible Apple features, and copy it the next day. At least change it up a bit.

Hated it to begin with but stuck with it and now I’m used to it being at the bottom.

Easy to slide through open safari tabs as well.

The problem here is that Apple "copied" many other browsers that had this already. It's not as simple as some of the features (especially in hardware) that only involve Apple and Samsung. Neither company or fanbase should be complaining or pointing fingers here.

Some of these comments to such an inconsequential article are just so ridiculously toxic. It's just another depressing indictment of the internet / forums that I hoped we could have moved on from.

in the spirit of embracing change i tried the menu bar at the bottom but just couldn’t get in to. i cant even really say why exactly but i seem to prefer it at the top

The notion people have that moving the search bar to the bottom is somehow a tell if a company knows how to innovate or not amazes me. Is your bar really set that low? If so, the ability to produce bendable displays (regardless if you want a bendable phone or not) must really blow your mind and respect Samsung a ton.

Framing this as "Samsung follows Apple" is misleading when Google Chrome had this on Android for a while. And, as another member pointed out, IE on Windows Phone did as well - many years ago, in fact.

Am I the only one who switch it back to the top almost immediately?
Nope, I did as well. Titles belong at the top, just like everything else we read on or offline. Newspaper and magazine article headlines are at the top, section and chapter headings are at the top, file folders have their tabs at the top, etc… That bar/tab/whatever they call it functions as title as well as address bar entry, especially since the only place you see the page's HTML <title> these days is scrunched into a tiny tab. If I have to type into the address bar, I'm changing the way I'm holding the phone anyway in order to do that typing and it's trivial at that moment to tap the top of the screen to start that typing. Everyone who's complaining about using a second hand to make that tap, how the heck do you type and hold the phone with one hand at the same time? If I need to switch tabs with one hand it's easy to use Reachability to get to the top (swipe down from the bottom of the screen to offscreen).

All that said, I think giving users the option here is the best way to go.
