I bet apple just introduces "features" just to see if Samsung will do it too. I can't way for the bottom notch or volume buttons on opposite sides of the phone.

Whoever did it first doesn't matter

Speaking from a UX perspective, two interesting things happen: 1. Muscle memory (or how everything works) vs 2. How our hands actually work

It is undeniable better to have the bottom address bar, nobody has 6 inches thumbs, most people, will feel more confortable with this change.

On the other hand, some people do prefer to use their muscle memory, and of course they are perfectly "fine" with it.

It is optional and apple made the right move here.

What bothers me is that people don't realize that not everyone has two hands, so please stop making it a duality when it fact you're speaking from a confortable position. There is a lot of people who will benefit from this, not just you, regular joe.

I'm probably one of the 4 people on earth that use Firefox for Android and they've had the bottom bar for easily a year or more. It makes sense and should have happened a long time ago.

Been using the address bar at the bottom in Firefox for a year now. Don't think I'll ever go back.

this is amazing news for all 4 samsung mobile browser users
Ya and hasn't Chrome and or other browsers that people actually use or at least probably should use vs. Samsung's mobile browser already had the address on the bottom before apple? Pretty snarky tweet by Dan about something Samsung users could have done just installing another and again probably better browser.

this may be a dumb question, but if the address bar is at the bottom, where's the keyboard when you're typing? Higher up? One thing moves down and another moves up?

The keyboard now rests just below the notch.

But seriously, keyboard is where keyboard is. You tap the bar and it shows above the keyboard. Like everything else. Like iMessage or anywhere we type. Nothing changed there. :)

I don't think the 'movers and shakers' at Samsung have an original idea between them.
Umm as far as smart phones go I'd say they're the most innovative brand when it comes to hardware. Or did we forget about them creating foldable phones and I think possibly the first to use oled screens? curved edged screens? At least beat Apple to higher than 60hz refresh rates? Way more innovative than Apple with it's external hardware at least. Not all the of them have been winning ideas but the movers and shakers at Samsung seem to have a lot more ideas external hardware wise then Apple generally has.

So let’s get this straight, Apple wasn’t the first, and you admit it, yet you bring attention to some clown who’s making a big deal out it, why? ??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️

There were numerous browsers on Android with address bars at the bottom for years now, and unlike iOS, Android permits different rendering engines. Samsung phones are in fact less restricted on this front.
They know this, they are just trying to bash Samsung for some sick reason ??‍♂️

Samsungs browser is actually quite OK, with adblock too, but I prefer Opera browser (with bottom nav bar of course) and have been using Opera since my 2013 Galaxy S4. Always thought most browsers had this as an option, so I'm surprised Apple and Samsung are so late.

Samsung do copy Apple though. Can't say Apple copy as much from Samsung. (but all tech companies copy of course)

Am I the only one who switch it back to the top almost immediately?

I was but it’s really one of those things that other than habit doesn’t really matter to me at least.

Also in the end a bit easier to reach when you actually need it

This is so dumb. Samsung had said they were going to put the address bar at the bottom since late spring and they finally did with this beta. This has nothing to do with Apple at all. Also, several other browsers had bottom address bars since a long time ago. This sounds like a hater piece.

I have small hands and like the bar at the bottom, but I don't like my eyes having to dart back and forth from what I'm typing to the search results that are generated as I type. I've kept it at the bottom since day one to get used to it, but I still don't love that part of the UI. Not sure there's a great solution, although having search results go from bottom to top is one idea I've had. It might not make sense at first, but maybe I'd get used to that, too...
