Tech YouTuber Unbox Therapy recently shared a video looking at reputed dummies of Samsung's forthcoming Galaxy S22 lineup, corroborating earlier leaks that suggest it will again consist of three sizes to compete directly with Apple's latest devices, the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13/Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max models.

Now removed but since re-uploaded by others, the video pretty much confirms earlier reports that Samsung's flagship S22 and S22 Plus smartphones will sport a glossy design that retains the rounded Contour Cut Camera housing seen in the S21 and S21 Plus, while the S22 Ultra will boast a new, more rectangular Galaxy Note-style design with rear cameras that are flush with the case, and a matte finish.

According to a leaked spec sheet, the S22 will have a slightly more compact 6.1-inch display than its predecessor (6.2 inches), while the S22 Plus is expected to come in at 6.55-inches (previously 6.7-inches). Both are said to include triple-lens camera arrays featuring a 50-megapixel main camera alongside ultra-wide and telephoto lenses. (Apple plans to add a 48-megapixel camera lens to this year's iPhone 14, followed by a periscope lens in 2023, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.)

Taking things up a notch, the more squared-off S22 Ultra is expected to come with four embedded cameras, including a primary 108-megapixel sensor with a Super Clear lens, which should provide reduced glare and reflections in shots, along with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto, and 10-megapixel 10x periscope lens. Unlike the S21 Ultra, this year's model is also expected to come with an S Pen stylus holder built into the side.

Last year, after initially mocking Apple for not including a charger with the iPhone 12, Samsung followed its rival's lead and didn't include a charger with the Galaxy S21 series. The same is expected to apply with the S22 lineup, although Samsung is rumored to be upping the charging speed of the S22 Ultra with a separate 45W USB-C power adapter, up from the 25W maximum supported by the previous generation model.

Samsung typically announces its latest flagship smartphone lineup to rival Apple's iPhones in January or February, but there's been no confirmation of a media event yet, and given the global chip shortage and other supply-limiting factors, Samsung could well opt for a later launch this year.

Aww, great! Let‘s rewatch all the Samsung ads, especially the „ingenious“ ones to see, what Samsungs real values are... wait?!

Impressive specs for sure but there’s no chance I ever go back to Android.

But maybe this will convince Apple to step their game up even more and I’m all for that!

To each their own, but IMO, these are better designs than the current iPhone offerings. I just don't understand the camera square on iPhone and Apple advertises/emphasizes it as if it is good design. I personally think it is the wart on an otherwise very nice design.

These from Samsung have a bump of course, but there just seems to be more uniformity.

Bwahahaha. It looks almost exactly the same as the previous generation. Same thing with the S21 FE.

I wonder what gimmicks they’d going to push down people’s throat to make them go “man I’m so bored of my iPhone because that new Samsung can find studs inside my walls with the new laser sensor” ?

What Samsung calls a 'compact' phone is a joke. The last true compact android phone was the Sony XZ1 Compact. The iPhone 13 Mini is amazing as well as a compact. Too bad there's so many Android phone manufacturers that haven't got a clue on how to make a phone that can actually fit in your pocket without sticking out like a sore thumb and making you look like a weirdo.
Yes, there is no way one can say the 6.1" screen Galaxy S22 can be considered 'Compact' or a direct competitor to the Iphone 13 Mini. Right now, the only flagship Android phone that can be considered 'Compact' is the Asus ZenFone 8, which has a very nice 5.9" 120 Mhz screen OLED screen actually.

Samsung has always made awesome phones (that galaxy note battery issue aside) and would probably be my first choice for a non iPhone.

Although I'm an iPhone user I've always appreciated the phones that Samsung has put out.
Samsung S line is great, but they usually are not awesome, on an aesthetic point of view.
This time it seems to be different.

They look good and as always have specs to match.
I’ve owned a couple in the past (s7 / s9 +) but always without fail give up on them in less than 1 year and switch back to iPhone (I just think the iOS/iPhone experience is just more my thing).

I am in the market for a phone, so I need Samsung's latest models for comparison with latest iPhone models. I am not going to compare the latest iPhones with a one year old Samsung S21 released on January 2021, one year ago. Sooner Samsung releases it, the better it will be for the market. If Samsung waits too long, Apple will have or will be close to releasing two iPhone models.

But my god, Samsung is bad at keeping releases secret, unlike Apple.

First of all, those phones are ugly. Second, they run Android. And thus I’m not interested. Have a great day.
Do aesthetics really matter that much to a consumer when they put a case on the phone anyways? I highly doubt it.

Secondly, ‘running Android’ is really a ridiculous reason to not purchase the S21. Android used to be slow, laggy and have a choppy U.I. experience, but that has completely changed with performance.

[Just for the record, I’m a devoted iOS/iPhone user, so I’m not even close to being biased to Samsung, but I see both sides of the spectrum.]

If the S22 Ultra ran iOS I would be very interested in purchasing one.. My girlfriend is a huge Samsung fan and pretty sure the Ultra will replace her Note 9. It's nice to be able to have some seat time with a competitor's devices without owning it for comparison.

The S22 Ultra will, no doubt, be a heck of a device ( similar to the S21 Ultra )..But, my recent acquisition of the Z Fold 3 has been nothing short of an amazing UX! It's really turning in to a multii purpose workhorse!

Every time I pick up the iPhone now, the UI and UX feels.. dated!

I had a Galaxy Note once and I loved it. Would buy one again but will not because I think no phone is worth $1200 to $1500.

Interesting you should say that because I was looking at the Galaxy Z Flip 3! Battery life is a turn off, though.

The flip didn't do it for me.. At the end of the day, it's still a candy bar.. The fold is on another league, imo.

Yea, the battery on the fold 3 is no where near the iPhone 13 PM or the Pixel 6/Pro, or even the S21U.. but that's offset by the diverse functionality it offers!

I still get around 6ish..hrs SOT with the Fold 3 which serves my purpose.

For my needs, I really hope Samsung delivers on the dual sim activation promise with this device!
