What Samsung calls a 'compact' phone is a joke. The last true compact android phone was the Sony XZ1 Compact. The iPhone 13 Mini is amazing as well as a compact. Too bad there's so many Android phone manufacturers that haven't got a clue on how to make a phone that can actually fit in your pocket without sticking out like a sore thumb and making you look like a weirdo.

The S22 Ultra will be good. Looks like it will be a true successor to Note 20 Ultra. Nice that S pen can be kept inside instead of carrying it separately like in Fold 3

I had a Galaxy Note once and I loved it. Would buy one again but will not because I think no phone is worth $1200 to $1500.

While I agree with you but Samsung usually has generous trade-in offers that brings it down to ~$900 with free pre-order bonuses like wireless earbuds, case and charger that I got with the S21 Ultra. I'd still lean towards putting that $900 towards something more practical like a gaming/rendering Lenovo Legion Slim 7 laptop or mini-ITX PC.

Samsung have too many good phones and that’s a problem for consumers trying to decide which phone to buy. With samsung right now the choice is do you get the S21 with a great camera and a zoom lens which is unmatched or do you get a foldable display and put up with a decent but not the best camera. At least with Apple everything comes down to the size of the device you want and how much you want to Spend. It’s not like there are 2 pro version phones with wildly different features to choose from.

Options are always good.

The flip didn't do it for me.. At the end of the day, it's still a candy bar.. The fold is on another league, imo.

Yea, the battery on the fold 3 is no where near the iPhone 13 PM or the Pixel 6/Pro, or even the S21U.. but that's offset by the diverse functionality it offers!

I still get around 6ish..hrs SOT with the Fold 3 which serves my purpose.

For my needs, I really hope Samsung delivers on the dual sim activation promise with this device!
The thing I like about the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is that it is probably the most indestructible current smart phone, because it has no glass panels. With Galaxy Z Fold 3, the front screen uses glass to prevent scratches, which is of course vulnerable to cracking if you were to drop it.

I actually have this phone. It's not really a compact phone... its a BIT big, but it's still the very best last compact'ish phone made... and the weird thing is; Samsung did a LOT of things right with it;
  • Side power button is also the fingerprint scanner. WHY is this not an industry standard?! This makes SO much sense!!!
  • Headphone jack
  • MicroSD card slot
Unfortunately, the phone has bloatware. And unlike the Sony XZ1 Compact, one of it's speakers is downfiring where the USB-C port is (lame, both speakers should be front facing). There's also no LED notification light, which sucks because you wont know you have any notifications just by looking at the phone. Also, the dedicated camera button on the XZ1 Compact (and i think all other Sonys) is actually an AWESOME feature when taking selfies; really difficult taking a photo and touching the screen's shutter release button.

Benchmark figures on Apple silicon are a lie. The M1 chip and the A1 chip are poor in real-world performance like how M1 Mac lags even during web browsing.

this is a /s right? if it's not, is this a blanket statement across the M1 line, or just the M1 base?

Not personal opinion, according to Google reviews the S21 Ultra has a 4.6 rating with 54k reviews, compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max which also has a 4.6 rating but only 4k reviews.
S21 came out one year ago. 13PM just three months ago.

The s21 ultra is not pocket friendly but the s21 plus and s21 are believe me they are thin for the screen size and well built. The s21 vs iphone 13 mini is not much difference only ounce heavier same thickness only height where s21 is taller but you get a bigger screen so the s21 overall is better.

With a Samsung phone, you know that they won't intentionally try to cripple your device.
I still refuse to update my 13 Pro, because I know Apple is just looking to cripple my phone.
If Apple wanted to cripple your phone, what makes you think you need to update for them to achieve this?

Because if it gets crippled without an update, it would piss off their users more than if an update did it.
At least with an update, iPhone users can "one up" Android users about software support as they cry themselves to sleep as their $1000 phone turns into a laggy POS.
