I'm not convinced that the S7 edge does not have a better display than the iPhone 7 plus according to display mate.

The iPhone 7 is low res and doesn't even come into it.

I've not owned the note 7. I had the S7 edge for one month and used it alongside my 6S plus. The S7 edge probably had a better display but there wasn't much in it. My 7 plus has a better display than the 6S plus.
Yes,
You believe that. But displaymates review of the 7 plus screen was after the review of the s7.
You touted displaymates review yourself with the note 7 display, that was after the review of the iphone 7. You concluded from these facts that the note 7 has the superior display.
I think your reasoning in this was solid and sound. BUT you should be consistent . The same displaymate however reviewed the 7 screen as the best screen , AFTER the review of the s7.

That , for me, doesn' t mean that the iphone 7 has a superior screen.

But, your way of determination and debating of which phone has the best display, should be consistent.

But we live in a world where alternative facts exist.

I will accept that the 7 plus could have a better display than the edge. But not the 7. It's illogical.

Yes, i know that too. I actually believe it.
To use alternative facts as an excuse just doesn' t cut it.
At first you try to inforce your opinion by using a source and measurements , that is pretty objective. But when you throw these same facts and measurements out of the window in a different case, because it doesn' t fit your opinion, is just not consistent.
I was just stating that. It is not about your opinion, i even agree. It is the way you use facts and "alternative" facts, that makes you less credible.

I think most in the industry would agree that the S7 edge has a superior screen to the iPhone 7/7 plus. Display mate are not the only people who can review a screen.

Display mate may have said that the iPhone 7 has a better display but that is not the prevailing opinion of the industry and that is why I would question it.

My own personal preference is the iPhone but the prevailing opinion would be the S7 edge.

Oh look, another samsung bloatware over outdated android special.

Haha, this is true lol. I like Samsung phones don't get me wrong but this is the biggest reason why I hate Samsung.

I'm on my Android year this year so I'll likely get a Samsung S8 from my iPhone 7 Plus until the end of the year when I go back to iPhone.

Grow up seriously, what happened with the note 7 was disappointing but let's not act like that's the norm. That could of happened to any company.

The S7 was perfectly fine in terms of being safe. How about you compare what the S8 is likely to do. All the new features the iPhone 8 is going to have is basically a Samsung phone with IOS on it. There is nothing junk about what Samsung brings out. It's arguably the best devices out each year and this year will be no different
YAWN!!!!!

No, it could not have happened to any company.
Because it happend twice! After the first reports of exploding or catching fire notes 7' s, they had the chance to correct it, but even the newer revisions had the same problems.
For samsung it was all about competing with apple, and they put that first vs the customer and consumers safety.
So if it happens once, ok.
Twice? After they had the chance to correct it? No! That could not have happened to any company.

Yes, it says something about the superior tech of samsung displays. But... you can' t get a galaxy note 7 . It is not a real product.

Of course it could happen to anybody. Samsung problem was rushing it out the 2nd time due to pressure from customers when really they should of found the correct cause for the issue.

There was no issues with the S7 and I can't expect there will be any issues with the S8. Samsung I'm sure have learnt from their mistake.

Yes, and 2nd time " under the pressure of customers" is the one i have problems with.
First time, ok, could happen to anybody.
2nd time, no ! that could not and should not happen at any company.

Well, hindsight is always 20-20.

It's understandable that no one would dream that a different supplier would also have (totally different) manufacturing problems... especially after it seemed that batteries from the different supplier had already been working fine in other regional models.

It's like when Apple had to replace millions of laptop batteries. Do you think they tested tens of thousands of the replacements? Extremely doubtful. Why would they expect another problem?

Likewise, I don't recall anyone here at the time of the first Note recall, saying that Samsung should delay for more testing. On the contrary, many here were saying the exchange to units with the different batteries wasn't moving fast enough!

The good news is, now it's likely that both Samsung and Apple will test incoming batteries like no one's business :)
