2017!!!

All companies are making great phones it depends on us what we want so one is better than the other is just low thinking.

Well as long as I live I’ll never understand why Android or whatever fans actually make an account at Macrumors and come talk about their platform and hardware. I have NEVER been to an Android forum. Truly bizarre behavior.
Because most of us were using Apple gear back in the days where Apple made great innovative products. I still use selected Apple gear. I made my account on here when I was fully entrenched in the Apple ecosystem. I also work in the Graphic Arts industry which is Apple based. This does not mean I cant prefer an Android device for my phone, and it certainly does not mean I cant post about it on this forum.

I would not switch because I have too much invested in the Apple eco system. From my iphone, to ipads, imac and Apple TV, they all work together seamlessly.

However, I did like the notch on that guy's forehead at 52 seconds. Pretty funny.

Hey I finally found another person from South Dakota on here. 🙂 Anyhow I like my Apple stuff, but I also love my S8+.

Wow good catch at 52 seconds 😛

Because it's Macrumors NOT iPhonerumors. Most of us Android users had or still have an iPhone. And we have other Apple products.

Also ... Apple, Samsung, and Google are the main influencers of the market. So it makes sense to watch them closely and compare.

Please explain.

What you want to know?

iCloud?
- take your pick..google,microsoft,samsung

Hand-off / Continuity?
- On Samsung, they have similar (imo more elegant) and non-hardware dependent equivalent.

Home integration?
- Samsung Connect /Smartthings supports many more devices

http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/apps/samsung-connect/

iMessage??
- Whatsapp, WeChat

There is no need to be locked down and paying for over-priced hardware to have an eco-system. Everything that can be done on apple eco-system can be done elsewhere as well.

Combine the two and you’d have the greatest mobile device ever. I’m down for an iGalaxy S10

Given the fact that won't happen, you would have less competition on the market if they did combine. Competition drives other smart phone manufactures to do things differently and creates diversity for the consumer to have different choices of hardware.

Can Samsung not do any better things ?? Everytime take a dig at Apple Hype !! and the Hype that is created around an iPhone launch event ! C'mon Samsung prove us with your action ? Show us what you got ? Stop acting like a Kid !!

The clip is great and hits all the right notes.

And there in lies the bigger picture .. I have a iMac and iPad. Then there’s family and friends with iPhones, which makes the experience of having a iPhone much better.

It’s pretty all about the ecosystem! I think that’s why Samsung is trying to push its Dex along with Bixby to compete with Apple. But along with competing against Apple, they have to compete with Google, LG, HTC and others.
I have tried switching so many times but always come back to Apple. No other company has a solid offering of phone, desktop/laptop, tablet, wearable, TV, assistant, smart home with a strong offering of compatible accessories and software/services that all effortlessly mesh together like Apple does.

There are many elements other companies beat Apple but as a whole package, I’m happy sticking with Cupertino.

It’s not perfect but it Works for me.

I’m currently using both a Note 8 and an X at the moment and the 14 day return itch is getting stronger.

The X is nice to use but I can’t help feel it’s just another iPhone, I’m not amazed by the screen because I’ve had gorgeous screens before and on the note 8, unlock is just unlock.

I remember when the iPhone 4 was released with Retina display, there was nothing like it and it blew everyone away, but now OLED is old hat (perhaps not on iPhones) so I just can’t get excited for the display, it’s how it should have been.

I just find myself using my note 8 more and not wanting the hassle of ejecting the sim out of it to put it in the X. Again like previous posts, it’s all subjective and everyone prefers and requires different things.

There isn’t the perfect phone or we would all have that one wouldn’t we!

Which is best? Any phone you have on your person from the past few years is the best. Just like saying which is the best camera? The one you carry around with you.

iOS mainly. I had android for a couple of years, and windows phone too. I liked how android let you customise, but I found myself needing to customise to get the experience I wanted. These days I just don’t want to have to spend that time so the standard iOS approach works for me.

I also got annoyed at how slowly Sony provided OS updates and how quickly they stopped supporting, leaving devices on old OS versions.

So I guess a combination of simplicity and manufacturer variable support pushed me towards iOS.

Having said that, they’re both pretty much interchangeable. I have avoided buying a lot of stuff on iTunes and things like maps, messages, contacts etc are trivial to move between iOS and Android now. So if something comes along in the future I would consider switching. Damn near did it with the S8, but we had a couple of test devices in the office and I’m not a big fan of the curved edges.
