What controlled environment are you suggesting, the line outside the Samsung store?
Besides won't take anywhere near a day to go dead. Since they go up in smoke regardless if on or off, getting battery to lowest energy state is far more prudent then letting it sit somewhere partially charged. Perhaps in bathtub under several inches of water is safe. I was thinking of the safest way to get it to store to return. But go ahead carry it charged to store, seems far more moronic to me.
You seem angry fella? What's up?

lithium batteries work using only the top 20% of there voltage .when your phone says 0% dead the battery is really at 80% capacity.

the working voltage of lithium ion cells are 3-4.2 volts 3volts being dead and 4.2 volts being 100% charged.

if you discharge the battery lower it won't have enough voltage to operate the phone and it will swell up and expand or catch on fire if you draw to much load in it and get it under 3 volts.

so when your phone says it dead the battery is really at 80% capacity not anywhere near being discharged

I hope that every brand will get a lesson on this- Do not sell betas !
Present iOS 10 is a joke, every new Android OS as well. Soft and hardware somehow passes testing stage and become an unfinished product for customers, then after that we get updates ASAP for brand new phone...

So there is no safer way to keep it? Would putting it in ice pack cooler help?

Its only a "beta" on older iPhones. It runs like like a hot knife through butter on iPhone 7.Just Apple's planned obsolescence strategy at work here.Nothing new

Hate to say it but...

Burned Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Still More Innovative than the iPhone 7.

[doublepost=1476298853][/doublepost]
And Apple waits 2 years to introduce old technology in a new phone, calls it "Amazing" and millions want it. Apple will never win the "spec war".

Samsung needn't worry...This too shall pass.

Really, by having

1) The best SOC
2) Best camera
2) 3DTouch
3) Haptic feedback
4) 1 of, if not the best display display mate ever tested
5) Better ram management
6) Twice the speed. A 6s is basically twice as fast as a S7. And thats not even the new 7 with the legendary A10 chip.
7) Real touch ID

Where are those old specs? In your tiny Samsung minds?

What's wrong with iOS10? Works like a treat. In fact I was on the betas all the way to current release and now Im on betas again and no issues whatsoever. You sure it's not operator error. I've seen plenty of that.
