No no no no no. That’s not good! I was planning to buy a new Galaxy in 2019, and if the new S and Note phones don’t have it I might look elsewhere. :(
I think Nokia and Ericsson phones still have headphone jacks :D

Even the camera lens is now vertical too like the X. They don't even try anymore, just wait until iPhone reveals what they have and copy that a year later. And what is up with the cyclops hole on the front? You're telling me that's better than the Notch? #embracethenotch

I had the same reaction. That camera hole on the front is quite bizarre.
The camera hole is different enough that people likely won't conflate it with a notch, even if they are both functionally equivalent.

uh thats not the flagship model, s10 reportedly will have headphone jacks, that should be more made aware so ppl be more informed that this model is more like a testing bed rather than representation of the rest of the samsung's product.
The writing is on the wall though. It's not a question of if, but when Samsung excises the headphone jack from the rest of their lineup.

We’ll have no more posts like this throwing cold water on the fanboi circle jerk.

Latest rumors are saying the Galaxy S series, the flagship, should still be sporting a headphone jack next year. We will know for certain then since this isn't one of their flagships and just another in the sea.
Too late.

Funny. I would rather that neither of them kill it, though.

Looks nice and probably a fraction of the price of an iPhone.
You get what you pay for with these. Lots of bloat and spyware, difficult updates. Google made their own phone because they were so fed up with the Samsung nonsense.

Forget the headphone jack part. That may be funny but it isn’t the real story.

The story is the pinhole and what it means for the S10. This has potential until the full under-screen technology is ready in a couple years.

I’m buying a new phone in 2019 and am willing to consider Android for the first time in, well, ever—since ditching my Blackberry over a decade ago. Love seeing some different options. This is a pretty cool idea.

samsung has been killing apple in the design department since the s6 edge. I'm glad Samsung is not following this stupid notch trend cause the camera punch out is a lot better looking. the status icons will just be pushed off to the right of the camera. if the s10 looks like this with no chin, I'm all in!!!

I have had an iPhone 7 for over two years now, and I still think it was asinine to remove the headphone jack in favor of the Lightning connector.

At least Samsung is using a standard port - USB-C, so one adapter (or one pair of earphones) would work with any other standards based device. Apple is now eliminating the Lightning port in favor of USB-C, so now you have to have three different ways to connect headphones to a device in the Apple ecosystem. This is just dumb and sloppy.

Lightning was a transitional connector. Everyone knew it. The standard is USB-C. Apple should have waited with removing the headphone jack until they fully transition to the standards based connector on their iPhones and iPads.

I too have a an iPhone 7, and the lack of headphone port is my one gripe. What really irks me about Apple's move is that ok, I have to use a dongle, and at the time Apple even supplied one, but there are no decent dongles that support headphone and charging simultaneously. It is deplorable, that Apple didn't even think to sell one, and that all of the ones on the market are garbage.

maybe so but this is the A8 model, samsung always use mid lvl phones for testing, if the perception that this phone does badly thn samsung can analyze their market research and realize ppl do want the headphone jack.

i have no horse in this race, since i barely use headphones at all nowadays and couldn't careless if all phone goes headphone jack-less or not.

but people here should be made aware that the s10 will most likely have a headphone jack.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about technology over the past several years it’s that eventually, everyone ends up copying Apple. :)
that applies to apple as well, everyone copies everyone, including apple, iphone wasn't the first phone to have wireless charging, ip67, nearly edge to edge screen, dual sim, finger print scanner, etc.

apple just does a better job at user experience integration.

I see it more like Apple removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 - to give consumers a whole year to vent so that the controversy would be out of the way by the time the iPhone X was released the following year.

Samsung is possibly using their mid end phones to telegraph to users their intention of (eventually) removing the headphone jack. I wonder though - if and when Samsung does remove the jack from their S and Note lines, what's their rationale and selling point going to be?

For anyone who hasn't noticed, when it comes to smartphones, Apple is 2-3 years ahead and they eventually follow after they buy an iphone and tear it down and figure out how to build their version ... and of course in tech, there is NO market until Apple releases a product (smartphones, mp3 players, tablets, watches, etc ...) so no one should be surprised.
