I care insofar that their incessant whining here makes the whole forum that much more toxic and unpleasant to dwell in.
I joined this place shortly after I got my 1st Apple product, an iMac, in 2011. There were dissenting voices back then, but generally, it was balanced out by an equal number of Apple enthusiasts and there was still room for reasoned, objective debate. We disagreed, but by and large, it still felt like a fairly civil spot to hang out with.
However, the anti-Apple rhetoric in this forum seems to have rapidly grown more and more acerbic and negative in the last few years. The reasons cited have varied throughout the seasons, but the underlying theme is always the same. Apple has to do something like offer a cheaper iPhone or ape a competing product like the Microsoft Surface Studio in order to match the competition or it isn't innovating, when in reality, those turned out to not be products the masses wanted.
As a general rule of thumb, it would seem that Apple has prospered by doing the exact opposite of what the critics claimed Apple had to do. The ASPs of their phones have actually risen over the years. Hybrids and 2-in-1 laptops aren't exactly dominating, and the Surface Studio remains a very niche product with its own share of shortcomings.
I still remember the extreme negativity that seemed to have taken over Macrumours last year when Samsung hinted that iPhone X sales were lacklustre, citing a drop in the sales of their OLED screens. This resulted in all the haters coming out of the woodwork to gloat that Apple was getting its comeuppance for daring to charge $1k for an iPhone. As it turned out, the iphone X actually sold very well, and the dip in screen sales was actually due to a disproportionate drop in the sales of Samsung's own mobile products.
Yet do I see any apology or reflection from them for being wrong? No. They just burrowed deep and waiting for the next piece of negative clickbait to surface so they could launch their assault renewed.
Should I not care?
